Xia slowly let out his breath and whispered, "let me rephrase it, have you seen my mother in recent years? Has she told you anything about me? Why did she leave me?"
The old man jerked at his sentence. "She left you? That's impossible. That woman was crazy about you. She kept uttering crazy things like how her cute little crayfish was so innocent for the world and that he should be under her umbrella for all his life. It's not possible for her to leave you," he shook his head and went about sorting few herbs on the shelf.
Xia cheered up. He held Long's hand and gazed up at him. "Hear that Long, my mum never left me. She never wanted to leave me alone," he exclaimed and hugged him tight. He never once believed that his mother left him voluntarily but..... there was an inkling of doubt still lingering. Now that this doubt was clarified, he felt light and cheerful.
"Long, she did not leave me. Then some must have really abducted her. Oh god, what should we do. Should we give out a missing person report with a reward? Would that help?" Xia said.
Long held his anxious love's should and whispered, "First, we should gather more information about the kidnappers. And where she was last kidnapped. As far as we know, she was not kidnapped in Nevada and Juikal. She would have probably been taken from here," he conducted.
"Yes, probably. We should find as many sources as we can." he went on blabbering on about his plan while the old man watched him from the sidelines.
The old shopkeeper was just twenty years old when he met Miss Yukiya she was beauty he had never seen before. His heart went out to her, but one day she said that she has a child and she never plan on marry anyone. This broke his heart.
Later on, as age took away his youth, she was still young. That's when he knew that she was not the same species as him. She used to always talk about this young master Xia. She always used to say how cute her child was. Looking at him now, the old man nodded. 'He really is cute! No wonder she did not want him to go anywhere without her,' But restricting a child is not good parenting. When your fledgling is ready to fly, we should let them soar.
"Young Xia, have this," he pulled out a worn out letter from his jacket and handed it over. "This was your mother's letter to me,"
Xia took it from him with trembling hands. Taking a glance at Long, he hesitantly opened it. There were only two sentences written on it. "I Am coming over to buy herbs. Please keep aside Illuki herb if you have any,"
"My mother.... she was planning on buying this herb but did she reach here,"
The old man shook his head. One day a long time ago he got a letter saying that she would be visiting the store again. The old man was exited to meet his friend. But she never came. It was like she disappeared into thin air.
Long held his lover closer. He held the small paper and sniffed it. It had the accumulated scents from all the herbs in the shop but he could not small his mother in laws residual scent. If she did not reach here, then she could have ended up anywhere on the way. "Xia, I think it's better to post a missing person poster in every town on the way from Nevada to Suikal,"
"Yes, I think so to," Xia nodded his head vigorously. "It would be better to place a higher reward then people will definitely inform even the minute details,"
"Hmm let's do that," Long nodded towards the old shopkeeper and held his lover. They both dashed over to the magistrate's office. The same man was standing guard outside.
"Young lad, it seems like you found your friend," the man cheerfully said.
"No, we are searching for his mother and would like to post a missing person report," Long said in a hurry.
The yamen runner led him inside and helped him fill out all the forms. A small painting was painted with the vivid description from Xia. "Missing person report costs ten silver for posting all over town. But I'll give you a discount we can post it for just two silver," he said.
"I want this poster to be posted to all the villages from Nevada to Suikal." Long said.
This plunged the entire yamen office in silence. They have never had a missing report like this, and from the man's demands it would cost a fortune to post such a report.
"Young lad, it would....cost a lot,"
"I don't care about the cost," Long said he pulled out ten spirit crystals from his sleeve and dropped it on the table. "I want the poster to be posted in every small village, town and even on eth roadways to Suikal. Can you do that?" he whispered anxiously.
Xia held onto his head and gazed at the yamen runner with tears in his eyes.
The yamen runner froze. He had never seen a sprit crystal in his life before. Even a small piece would be auctioned off for millions of gold coins. Seeing so many of them in front of him, he felt faint. "I....I need to talk to my superior," he ran over to his magistrate and knocked on his door. "Lord...lord, we have a special request," he shouted.
The door did not open, but a voice inside said, "Don't disturb me. I'm taking my beauty sleep,"
"Lord....this man is willing to pay ten sprit crystals for the task," he shouted anxiously.
The door in front of him opened with a bang. "te....ten spirit crystals?" he shouted.
"Yes lord, ten," the yamen runner held up ten fingers with his eyes wide open.
The magistrate rushed over to the yamen office and helped eth special customer himself. He even used the special message sending array to send out the poster to all the yamen office around the small villages. "Any information about this woman in this painting will be rewarded handsomely with spirit stone," he wrote under it.
Just like that, a missing person poster for Yukiya was spread all across the small villages and towns.
