While Xia having a day out with his new demon friend, Long was frantically searching for him. The weird scents in the house almost numbed his nostrils. "What is this fragrance why is it so overpowering," he said whist running around. He saw a man dusting the paintings on the wall. "Oy, have you seen my lover?"
The butler nodded, then he shook his head.
"Then do you know who this scent belongs to? It's too overpowering.." Long wiped his nose continuously. 'Someone should have taken him away,' he vigilantly glanced around.
"Oh, that's Coco Chanel," the butler mumbled.
"Whatever. I don't care about that. I just need to know where Xia is RIGHT NOW!"
A fine line of sweat rolled down the butler's forehead. 'ah should I tell the truth. His master had told him not to reveal their location to this man. But...it looks like he will annoy me more if I don't,' he thought gulp. "It—it looked like master Xia was extremely upset. So.... master, he....he took him for a ride." He mumbled throwing the duster on the table.
"That bastard. I knew it; he had a thing for my Xia. So he just whisked him away. Ah, this is so frustrating. Where did they go?" Long shouted and pranced around like a caged beast. His eyes turned red and his small horns popped out.
"to the city..."
The dragon stopped his nervous walk. "City? Which way is it?" he whispered anxiously.
"Master did not specify the location..."
"Shit!" he shouted and flicked his sleeve dramatically. The nearby decorative vase tumbled down. Long tried to piece it together, but the vase was beyond hope. "sorry,"
The butler closed his eyes in agony. 'That was an antique.....ah, my heart is bleeding. Please show your anger at something else.'
The raging dragon pranced around for a while. But his anger diminished along with his energy. plopped on the sofa nearby and sighed. "Do you know why..."
"Pardon, I didn't get you,"
Long glanced at him and sighed. "Do you know why Xia is upset.....did he tell you anything?,"
"I heard them arguing about demons,"
This made the dragon even more depressed. "Sigh, so it was because of those bloody demons. Why does he support them? They all have evil intent. I was just stating the truth....,"
The butler lost his calm at his statement. He squatted down next to him and glanced at him with a wooden gaze. "Mister Long, did you forget that I am a demon as well?" just after saying this his imminence power filled the room, making the surrounding bloom into red roses.
Long glanced up at him vigilantly. "you...you..."
The butler sighed and stopped scaring him. He sat next to him and handed him a lollipop. "don't be scared im not going to eat you,"
Hesitating for a while, Long plucked it from his hand and took a bite out of it. "you tell me, all demons are bad, right? That's what I was taught from when I was young. My father, he...he told me that demon would always end up hurting you in the end. Isn't that the truth, every demon I've ever met wanted to either kill me or maim me? Then how can I believe that there are some good ones in between them,"
Hearing his long-winded complaint, the butler grimaced. "sigh, it seems like you are too prejudiced in your views. Think about it this way, the ancient demon lords are almost ten thousand years old. They are more than tenfold stronger than you, yet here you are...still alive. Why do you think so?"
"I'm lucky?"
"Luck has nothing to do with It." the butler peered at him as if he was looking at an idiot. "They spared you; because you are master Xia's loved one. The little bouts you had, was most probably to test your dedication for our master. Tsk, tsk, here I thought all dragons were intelligent,"
"My brother is the intelligent one," Long admitted with a huge sigh.
"ahh so you are the brawls and he is the brains,"
"enmm hmm," he hummed and held his aching head.
"Think about what I just said." The butler patted his shoulders and went back to dusting the paintings.
Long sat there dazed, thinking about every demon encounter. 'All of them.... I thought I was just lucky....looks like they really were sparing my life. Why? For Xia? Why so?...why are they calling him master in the first place? Why are they complacent to him and why did Xia get so angry when I said something bad about demons?'
So many questions filled his head. But there was only one answer in sight. "Don't tell me...is Xia also a demon? Is that why?" he whispered.
The butler's head snapped his way. 'Finally he gets it... why didn't he understand this sooner? Looks like he really is dumb,' he shook his head and went back to his work.
The dejected dragon sat there like a frozen statue for a long time. He was not able to process all this information. 'Is Xia is a demon...he is not a bad person though. Was my father wrong? Are all demons are not evil? Yeah, that is most probably it. Why would my innocent little crayfish be evil? He is the kindest person I've ever met.'
"They are in Gg mall."
Long nodded with his hands on his chin.
"I said they are in Gg mall. Why are you still sitting here? Go to your lover."
This snapped the dragon out of thoughts. "Yes, yes, I will get my lover back," he dashed out the house. But all of a sudden he ran back in, "where is Gg mall? What is a mall? How to get there?"
The butler sighed. "I'll drive you there,"
Just like that, the golden dragon and a flower demon rode out of the house in a shiny BMW. All along the way, Long put his head out the window and continuously sniffed for traces of Xia.
"Are you a dog? Put your head inside or you might lose it,"
Long glared at him and adjusted his tossed up hair. "Minute by minute, your respect for me is diminishing. I am a prince, I could have your head for disrespecting me,"
The butler glanced at him with his eyes narrowed. "I don't have an ounce of respect for your dragon kind, beside I don't like dumb people. And...I don't care if you are a prince or a beggar."
"Dumb? Are you calling me dumb? Waa, the disrespect is going over bound," Long exhaled softly, trying to keep his anger under control. "You don't discriminate? Says the demon who attacked me for being a prince,"
The car took a short turn to the right and entered other lane.
"My master Bao might have lost his temper a little, but he never meant to hurt you.....too much," the butler whispered.
Long glanced at him and popped out his tongue, 'didn't mean to hurt me my ass! That guy almost killed me.'
The demon was too busy driving to notice the dragon's reactions.
"That's totally believable," Long mumbled and sulked. He had been mistreated by these demon lords for the second time already. 'What would Xia think of me? Mostly he might think I'm a weak chicken,' he thought, combing through his tangled hair. Just the thought of lover made him remember his recent doubts. He glanced at the demon riding the car seriously and whispered, "tell me, is Xia really a demon?"
"What would you do if he is?"
"I—I don't know."
Long glanced out the window and sighed. He really did not have an answer to this. All along he grew up being taught that demons were bad, and now he learnt that his lover was one. It was quite a shock, but he was coming around. "I love him so much, though. I probably would accept it....eventually..... it is a harder to get used to,"
The butler glanced at him with a glare. "What is? That Xia is a demon? Waa, you really are a bastard. What is so hard about it? If you love him so much it should not matter,"
The car went silent after this. Long silently glanced at his hands. Hands that still held Xia's warmth. He softly sniffed his scent as well. 'Even if he was a demon, I can't stop loving him. He is mine and I am his. What difference does it make if he was demon or if he was a cultivated beast?'
"You are quite wise," Long whispered after a long while.
"You are just wet behind the ears. As centuries pass, you will learn to prioritise your loved ones rather than this race and all the other differences," the butler whispered and took a sharp turn to the left.
They entered the same bridge that they had a huge fight that morning. It looked like it was brand new without any traces left behind by war that happened.
"I am five thousand years old," Long whispered with a pout.
The butler chuckled and peered at him. "I am two thousand your senior,"
