After a long journey, the two dragons finally reached land.
Aotian hopped off as he glanced at the gloomy-looking sky. "How long until reinforcements come here?"
"They will be here any minute now," Ki mumbled as he jumped down from their ship. "That does not look good,"
The sky was completely dark with a huge streak of dark energy forming a pillar that reached to the sky.
"I never thought I would witness the Rakshasa gate breaking in my lifetime," Aotian whispered as he casually on the shores.
"Neither did I..... But vaguely I remember mum muttering about the gate breaking in the past.... not sure about it." Long Ki whispered as they both sat on the solitary beach. "What to do now? Should we just wait until reinforcements are here, or should we scout the area?"
"Scout obviously," Aotian glance at Raijin, who was already ready to scout the area. "Take him with you." he gestured to the ghoul to follow along.
Felia pouted and sat far from them. "Hey why did you send my darling out, huh? You could have done it yourself,"
"I will go scout the area, but before that let's rest for few minutes. I think my body is still not used to being on sturdy land."
"Hump, reasons, reasons,"
"Brother, send this annoying human off when the squadron reaches here."
"Hey!!!"
"We can't have you here when the Great battle happens. Last time when my mum left you were sleeping like a pig missing your ticket to heaven's realm, you idiot."
Felia pouted, "Who was the one making so much noise that I was sleepless the whole night!!!" her cheeks blushed red.
"Are you saying that you were eavesdropping? When will you stop that perverted habit of yours?"
"I'm not a pervert okay!!!"
"Anything to soothe your guilty soul." Aotian mumbled softly as he glanced at the calming waves. In the distance, he suddenly noted a small silvery shimmer. "The Mers have been following us."
Ki curiously looked at the direction. "It's dangerous for them.. When the water Rakshasas invade, they are the ones who get affected the most, worst is that even we can't go to the depths to search for them efficiently,"
"hmm..... Even so... I think they are here to help because you are their son-in-law," Aotian nudged his shoulder with a small smile.
Ki blushed a little. "Come on, stop teasing me."
"What? I'm telling the truth."
As they were squabbling, the sky opened up into a golden portal and a huge number of soldiers marched out.
All of them were thrown from a height but they all skilfully landed on their feet one by one.
"Dario!" Aotian ran to him and hugged him. "It's good to see you, my friend,"
"Your highness, it's been a long time since I've seen you," the second squadron captain said with a kind smile. "I've had the honour to see your mate. He is gorgeous,"
"Hey, that doesn't sound right. Why are you being so formal?" Aotian playfully swatted his forearm. "What is he doing? Is he doing well in heavy? Was he looking sad or anxious?"
"Whoa, one question at a time your highness, my bird brain can't handle so many," Dario whispered, scratching at his bright midnight blue hair.
"Enough with the formalities. Now tell me how my darling mate is doing."
The stiff man suddenly chuckled deviously. "He is a feisty one, eh? You know what happened, the princess tried to send you gifts but your mate and his mother firmly rejected them. Wow, it was a spectacle to see the two get put down to their rightful place."
"Xia did? He talked back against my uncle and his children?" Long Aotian whispered in shock. His mate had always been so timid and shy, but hearing that Xia was holding his own made him quite happy.
"Yeah? That is my baby alright. Hey tell me, did he give you anything?"
The squadron caption chuckled and held a small pouch behind his back. "Oh, you have to pay the transportation price to get your special gift....."
"Come on, you used a transportation beam to get here. What transportation cost, you are just teasing me." Aotian swiftly knocked the man down and pulled the pouch out of his hand.
Inside was a small blue tassel with a dark string in the middle. Even without sniffing, he knew that it was his mate's hair strand. "It's so pretty, see my Xia is so talented." he tied it to his sword handle and made sure it was tied multiple times so that it won't slip off.
"Darn enough dog food. Unmated person here can't handle this anymore,"
Few minutes later, the first squadron captain came down as well, carrying Long Ki's gifts.
The red dragon happily took the small parcel and carefully pealed it open. Inside was a small folded white kerchief with a red dragon embroidered in the corner. He sniffed it, sensing the same scent as his mate. "It's so peaceful…"
"Stop sniffing it. So creepy," Long Aotian shouted from afar.
"Get lost. I can do whatever I want with my gift. Darn I miss my lovely wifey and my beautifully cute egg…" he mumbled, rubbing his face on the kerchief.
Just watching this made Aotian cringe. He glanced at his friend with a grimace. "I think I understand how you felt just a moment ago."
"Good that you do," the second squadron captain. Dario patted his shoulders. "I'll send for my vanguard team to check up on the area,"
"oh… Raijin is already at it," Aotian nodded.
"You mean person!! You bully," Felia shouted from afar.
Aotian chuckled at her.
"Who is that? She is cute…" Dario whistled with a wide smirk. "My fair young lady," he walked up to her whist combing through his vibrant blue hair. "I have never met a beauty lik…."
Someone gripped the back of his shirt and tossed him away effortlessly.
"Agh," he wiped at his painful butt. "Hey who are you, huh? You can just throw me like that."
Raijin glanced back with his eyes narrowed. "Dario you better stay at least ten feet from my mate, or else I might be tempted to chew off your beautiful peacock throat, pronto?"
"Y—yes!"
