Chapter 665 - Jax's Reports

At first, Yvonne had misunderstood who the weeping voice was trying so hard to warn her about.

However, that changed today as she was now well aware of who exactly that wailing phantom in her room had been referring to.

'Grand Duke Draco Roschester,' She recalled the name of the person that the phantom was trying to warn her against.

She had been under the misconception that those words were in relation to the Prince she had saved on that day but now she realized that it was because of the presence of the Grand Duke in the same estate as her.

She did not know who that weeping phantom was or why it had come to her.

However, what she now acknowledged was that the phantom had been trying to warn her about the future she would experience if she got close to the Grand Duke.

'Not that I had any plans of doing that.' Yvonne scoffed while huffing to catch her breath.

She had just awoken from her dream which was a reminder of an event from the past which she had forgotten.

Now that she knew what it truly meant, she was all the more determined to stay away from him.

Making slow movements to sit up in bed, Yvonne glanced at the window only to find that it was already dark outside.

The maids were supposed to wake her up for evening tea but it looked like they had failed to do so.

The little girl's stomach grumbled in hunger as she shuffled to make her way out of bed.

Before her feet could touch the ground, she heard a knock on the door, and judging by the familiar method of knocking she was able to grasp the identity of the person standing outside her door.

"Miss, have you woken up?"

She heard Mrs. Jacinth's gentle voice before the door was pushed open.

Walking into the room were two maids, one old and the other young, both of whom had been serving the young miss of the St. Claire family for years.

Behind these two maids was one in the uniform of a butler.

Yvonne nodded at Mrs. Jacinth and Roselie before her eyes fell on her competent butler, Jax.

He had been waiting outside the door for her to wake up ever since they had come to pick her up for evening tea.

"Miss slept well today. I suppose she had a pleasant dream." He muttered as he stood before the child.

Mrs. Jacinth and Roselie were ready with a bowl of water and had already gotten to work, helping the child freshen up right where she sat.

This allowed the other two in the room to converse freely.

By now, these maids were used to watching their Miss and her butler interacting with each other so they did their job while the rest did what they were supposed to.

"Did I?" Yvonne muttered in response as her dream wasn't one that could be called pleasant.

Hearing her doubtful words, Jax did not try to decipher what she meant but revealed what he knew of this matter.

"Mrs. Jacinth had tried to wake you up but Miss just turned around and continued to sleep." He disclosed the reason why she had been unable to attend the evening tea.

With the young miss refusing to wake up, the Butler could only inform this matter to the Earl who ordered them to let her sleep for as long as she wished.

Whenever it was that she woke up, they could bring her down to get her something to eat.

Luckily, the Miss had awakened at the right time for dinner so they could just escort her down there right now.

Having received a report on what had taken place from her Butler, Yvonne nodded and sent him away so that she might change into clothes more appropriate for dinner time.

The next time Jax saw his Boss was when she exited her room and met him in the corridor outside her bedroom where he had been waiting for her.

Yvonne did not know why she felt this way but there was a pricking sense of foreboding anxiety that encircled her mind and heart ever since she had woken up to a darkened sky.

'Is it because I met so many members of the Royal family earlier today?' She tried to figure out where this strange feeling was stemming from.

Unfortunately, before she could dive deeper into her analysis regarding this matter, Jax had asked for her attention by calling out to her.

"The servants who had accompanied the Viscount and his family to the Capital have been assigned rooms in the servant quarters as per the Countess's orders." He continued the report from earlier.

Yvonne snapped out of her thoughts and nodded for him to keep going.

Therefore, as they walked towards the Dining hall of the St. Claire mansion, Jax filled her in about everything that had taken place while she was still asleep.

The twins and Howard had gone to spar without her after hearing that their little sister was too tired and wished to sleep for longer.

The Countess had arranged for everyone's tea in the garden and even promised to take her sister-in-law Trisha to the Commercial District for a shopping spree tomorrow morning.

The other matter was regarding the servants who had followed the Valentes to Amarthea.

The Viscount and his entourage had reached Amarthea late last night and had sought lodging in a nearby hotel meant for traveling nobles who had no estate in the Capital.

While the Viscount's family had entered the Palace to meet the King, their servants and their luggage remained at this hotel.

The Countess had invited them to stay at the St. Claire estate so those who remained in the hotel were also summoned to the place where they would be staying for the next few days.

Yvonne nodded at him as Jax's report of the happenings in this mansion had come to an end just as they had reached the Dining Hall.

Announcing her arrival, Jax pushed the door and held it open for his Boss to enter.

The maids bowed but did not follow her in as this was a family dinner and there was no requirement for servants to remain here.

As soon as Yvonne entered the room, all eyes were on her.

The dinner had not yet been served and they were waiting for the servants to bring in their food which gave the little girl more than enough time to greet everyone and take her seat.

Marcus sat at the seat next to the Earl who was at the head of the table.

The St. Claire family sat on one side of the table while the Valente family sat opposite them.

They had been engrossed in conversation when they heard the news of the child's arrival so after she had taken her seat, they resumed their conversation.

Raylene was busy naming the stores that she felt Trisha would love to visit and the twins were listening to the conversation that the men were partaking in.

Sitting by himself was Howard who smiled at his sister but she could sense that something was amiss.

"What is it, Big Brother?" She investigated the cause of his gloomy expression which was a stark contrast to the happy faces all around.

Howard shook his head at first, unwilling to let her in on what seemed to be troubling him but under her unblinking gaze, he had no other option but to give in.

"That fool sent a letter." He whispered, leaning closer to her ear.

Yvonne was quick to grasp who her brother was talking about because there was only one person he would address in that casual way.

'So what if Brother Taylor sent a letter?' She blinked her wide and slightly confused eyes at him while waiting for him to explain what was so wrong with that.

Howard groaned at her oblivious behavior and chose to expand the answer he had just given to her.

"He wants to spend the day here tomorrow." He disclosed the reason for his pained expression through gritted teeth.

The little girl needed no further explanation as she had understood why he looked so unhappy to receive a letter from his best friend.

Her two brothers always fought for her attention but what she did not know was that their two cousins also planned to do the same.

Howard had already thought of how to tackle their cousins but those plans would not be sufficient to curb the shameless one who would go to any lengths to get closer to his little sister.

Therefore, he had been miserable ever since he had received a letter from the younger son of the Tanner family, revealing his itinerary for tomorrow.

Shaking her head at her brother's strange ways, Yvonne decided to cheer him up even if it was just by a little.

"Did you forget that my classes start early tomorrow morning?" She chuckled while reminding him that even if Taylor was arriving, she was too busy to spend time with him.

Howard's face brightened at her words but in the next second his curved lips and his shoulders drooped at the same time.

If his baby sister was going to start attending classes from tomorrow then she surely would not have time to meet Taylor.

However, wouldn't that also mean that she would have no time for him as well?

Thinking in this way, Howard fell into a dilemma of whether he should be happy or sad that his sister had classes.

Yvonne had no clue about the conflicting thoughts in her elder brother's head as she was focusing on a certain thought that had popped up in hers.

'Looks like I finally get to meet with my betrayer tomorrow..' She sneered as a glint of fury flashed across her amethyst eyes which none of the rest at the same table with her had noticed.
