'Who would have thought that my one question would give me such insider information?' Marquess Samed was impressed with what he had achieved today.
All he had wished to do was provoke the Earl to gain some entertainment during lunch.
However, luck had shone brightly upon him which had allowed things to escalate to this extent.
'I struck gold in the first attempt.' He snickered to himself at what he had achieved with just one question.
Thanks to his curious nature, he had discovered what had taken place in the Merchant's Guild, a place where he did not have much connection with, and also the insider information from his brother-in-law's estate.
This caused him to be in a pleasant mood as he urged his nephew to speak up further, not keeping them in suspense any longer.
Not only Marquess Samed but the rest of the people seated at this table held similar expressions while they focused their attention on the elder son of Duke Tanner.
Topher did not wish to keep them waiting as that would only earn him the ire of the scary Earl who was already not too happy with him.
Therefore, he cleared his throat and revealed what the member of the King's Council of Ministers had informed his father just last night.
"Minister Leopold informed us of quite a few things that we were unaware of earlier." He mentioned, getting straight to the point.
Yvonne's fingers tightened around her silverware while paying attention to what the heir of the Tanner family was about to disclose.
According to Topher's narration, Minister Cosmet Leopold had entered the Duke's mansion with the purpose of discussing what had taken place during their visit to the Palace.
"In fact, he had said that many other noblemen had gathered together to do the same." He added but that was something they had already expected.
After the St. Claire and the Valente family left the Palace grounds together and reached this place, many other families had done the same later on.
They had received such an explosive piece of information so it was a given that there would be ripples formed in their society.
Thus there were small groups of people who had met to discuss their opinions regarding what they had heard and also to decide what their next step would be.
Whether they would be accepting of the child's accomplishments or condemn her for sticking her nose in a place where she had no purpose.
However, Minister Leopold's objective for asking to meet the Duke seemed different from the rest.
"I did not know that Miss Yvonne was so talented." Topher praised the child but these words sounded sarcastic to Yvonne who had seen a glimpse of his true personality today.
"Oh, spill it already!" Marquess Samed chided his nephew who was spinning his words instead of revealing what that other man had said yesterday.
Topher did not mind being reprimanded by his uncle who was eager to hear more and nodded his head.
This time, he did not deviate from the topic and explained exactly what that man had said to his father in his presence.
The Minister who had arrived spoke once again of the matter that had been revealed in the Palace.
"Miss Yvonne not only helped with the policies but also in the spread of the guidelines meant to be followed for a healthy environment." Topher glanced at the child whose amethyst irises trembled as he said those words.
What he had just mentioned was regarding the Opera groups that had traveled through the entire Kingdom, educating the commoner citizens about the importance of leading a clean and healthy lifestyle.
Except for Marquess Samed and Yvonne, the only other person who knew about this was none other than the King.
Therefore, the child knew who had leaked this information to Minister Cosmet Leopold.
While she was busy cursing the King, now free from any guilt as that man only had the same features as her father but wasn't the same person, the rest were staring at the child with wide eyes.
"Is that true Vonna?" Rutherford inquired, puzzled about this new matter he was hearing for the very first time.
While he and the rest of their family had heard about the aid she had given in respect to the policies concerning the plague, they had absolutely no idea about this matter.
Thus he had turned to his child to seek for her confirmation which she gave without hiding anything from them.
"Marquess said that the Royal Medical Association was planning to distribute pamphlets among the people so I gave them a better suggestion which could save them a little money." The little girl tossed the blame on her tutor while also explaining why she had interfered once again.
This statement made everyone turn towards the one who had been enjoying the show until now.
'I blame him!' Rutherford narrowed his eyes at his neighbor for being the root of everything happening to his daughter these days.
If he had not come over to Yvonne and demanded that she help with the policies then she would never be criticized by so many people now.
While his daughter had done the right thing and even helped save so many lives that could have been lost, what was the use of it all?
Weren't there people who were speaking ill of her right now?
He did not mind being called cruel for thinking this way but he would rather have it so that she did not help them out in the first place.
'If they cannot appreciate the good deed she had done for them then they better not ask for her help ever again.' He scowled in his heart at the other noblemen who were against her.
His animosity thus even extended to the man who had brought his daughter into this hot mess.
Marquess Samed gulped his saliva and shuddered when he found himself at the center of the Earl's ferocious glare.
His eyes sought for the one who could help him escape from this scary man.
'Don't look at me now.' Yvonne shirked all responsibility as he was the one who had provoked the Earl earlier and even the reason for this entire mess.
Ignoring his pleading eyes, she diverted her attention elsewhere.
The people around her were surprised that she was the one who had suggested that an opera troupe be utilized for the spread of the guidelines put together by the Royal Medical Association.
"I watched that play, Vonny!" Taylor chimed in and pursed his lips when he thought of the show he had watched in the Royal Academy.
The Dean of the academy had invited one of the opera troupes and asked them to present that same play for their pupils.
Thus the three boys, Topher, Taylor, and Howard had all watched this play and Taylor had even sobbed during the climax of that heartwrenching yet thought-provoking play.
Therefore, to learn that this little child was the one who had suggested this method for teaching the citizens proper hygiene etiquettes was astounding to him.
In response, Yvonne smiled but on the inside, she was sighing that this was all they knew.
'At least they do not know that I was the one who wrote that play.' She was grateful that this was not yet spread in their society.
After all, she had not only suggested the use of this method but had also written the entire script that the opera troupes had practiced diligently and portrayed in every corner of the Kingdom.
Being reminded of this, her mind went to the musical piece that the male protagonist of that play, Theo, would perform while drowning in sorrows after the death of his child.
{Tears Of Our Love}
This piece held a special place in Yvonne's heart and was also one of the reasons why she had suggested this method to the King through the Marquess's mediation.
She had an ulterior motive in mind which no one, not even Marquess Samed knew about.
Thus she would rather not have people knowing about her involvement in this matter, at least not right now.
Therefore, she only smiled at Taylor when he revealed how moved he was while watching that play.
The entire Valente family agreed with him and did not feel that he was exaggerating about it as they too had watched the play when a troupe had arrived in their fief.
This left only Yvonne, her parents, and Marquess Samed who had not had the opportunity of witnessing the stellar performance which had been raved about in their Kingdom.
After all, this play was to teach the commoners so the noble families had not shown much interest in it earlier.
However, her parents were now aggrieved as they would have even gone as far as to purchase a ticket and watch this show if they had known about Yvonne's involvement in it.
The little girl was shocked to see the St. Claire couple sulking for not being informed of this matter, making her panic as she tried to coax them.
However, luck wasn't on her side as Young Master Topher Tanner had more to say.
"Miss Yvonne wrote the script so I am sure that the troupes would be willing to perform it once again for us." The young boy seated on the other end of the table mentioned in passing, making their heads whiplash in his direction.
Until now, they had only known that Yvonne had suggested using an opera troupe to educate the populace.
However, this was brand new information, enough to stun them all over again.
Yvonne too was staring wide-eyed at Topher whose innocent smile appeared devious to her right at this moment.
'What did I ever do to you!?' She growled in her mind and her animosity was vivid in her eyes.
'You should have let me speak earlier..' Topher's sneering voice echoed in her mind using the mental link formed by their etchers.
