Raylene clapped her hands in astonishment that her child had been summoned to the Palace so that she might attend a party hosted by the Royal Princess.
She had seen the Princess a few times and every time, she felt that the young girl was an admirable person.
She was pretty and sensible, and despite not being able to leave the Palace grounds, she was someone who had many friends among the young girls of nobility.
Not knowing that most of the girls who approached the Princess had done so with ulterior thoughts in their hearts, Raylene wished that her daughter would also become a good friend of the Princess.
Therefore, to find an invitation coming from the Princess for Yvonne, she was ecstatic and was already thinking of how she could dress her child up for this special event.
Yvonne on the other hand had the face of someone who was not interested in accepting this invitation in the least bit.
However, after noticing the gleeful smile on her mother's face, she knew that her pleasant and free week would not remain the same.
An invitation from the Royal Princess had thrown a wrench in her plans and even if she desired to stay at home, her mother would send her to the Palace without fail.
She might even do it herself if that was necessary so Yvonne only gulped her saliva while staring at the letter.
The Earl and Howard could sense her disheartened mood but they did not try to go against Raylene who had already decided that her daughter would attend this party.
The Countess had to attend the Jorbin tea party in the evening but for the next few hours, she had planned her schedule in such a way that she could help Yvonne prepare for tomorrow's special event.
"You only have to get dressed and leave tomorrow, Vonny. Mama will take care of everything for you!" She announced, assuring her child that she would ensure that everything was satisfactory for her visit to the Palace.
Yvonne was speechless while facing her enthusiastic mother who no longer cared about preparing for the Jorbin party this evening but was focusing her energy on the one that was scheduled for tomorrow.
Before she could even express her disinterest in this party, her mother hurried to finish her meal and rushed out of the dining hall.
Rutherford shook his head at his wife's hasty attitude but did not chide her after seeing how happy she looked when she was striding out of the room.
"Stay safe in the Palace, Vonny." Howard was the only one who wished her luck for what she might face tomorrow morning.
The little girl glanced down at the food remaining on her plate which had now become tasteless after the news she had heard earlier.
The men no longer disturbed the child who appeared to be deep in her thoughts.
Yvonne's mind was occupied with her thoughts about what was to come tomorrow but her body was urging her to eat.
Her training with the Captain required her to eat on time and until she was full, only then would she be able to keep up with his rigorous practice sessions.
Therefore, even when she appeared to have lost her appetite, Yvonne forced herself to empty everything that was on her plate.
Only when she had finished it did she excuse herself and head outside.
As she exited the room, she found only Jax waiting for her while her two maids were missing.
"Madam has asked Mrs. Jacinth and Roselie to accompany her." He promptly explained the reason for their absence.
Yvonne did not have to work too hard to decipher why her mother must have called for them.
'To prepare for the Princess's party.' She shook her head in dismay and walked towards her room.
Here she was trying to finish her assignments before their family could leave for the Valente estate but there were obstacles popping up to hinder her progress each day.
The entire last week she was busy with the tea parties hosted by different noble families.
This week she had been given the rare opportunity to stay back at home but that too was disrupted with the letter that arrived today.
Jax, who had been following after his Boss, knew of the letter that had come from the Palace but did not know who it belonged to or what was written in it.
Therefore, he observed the child walking before him, attempting to figure what could have caused her demeanor to shift from the last time he had seen her before the breakfast hour.
The two entered the corridor leading to her room and just as she had inferred, her mother and the two maids were found in the room next door which was meant to store her clothes.
The entire room housed numerous attires that had been prepared for Yvonne St. Claire, the precious daughter of Earl St. Claire.
The outfits in there ranged from daily wear to leisure, nighttime clothing.
Her riding outfit, her training pants, the dresses her mother had gotten tailored for special events, and also the simple and lightweight dresses she preferred to wear.
Yvonne only peeked through the open door before walking past it, without entering the place where a number of outfits were being assessed whether they were worthy to be worn to the Palace tomorrow.
When Jax glanced into the room, he was only glad that he was not the one who had to wash and fold those numerous outfits belonging to his Boss.
He too did not stay around for long but hurried to enter the room next door which was where his Boss had gone.
There he found the child sitting next to the window, before the table where a pile of sheets was placed.
These sheets were the assignments given by the Marquess, her tutor, and considering how the pile had diminished by a lot compared to what he had first seen, Jax was sure that she would be done in no time.
While this might be true, Yvonne had initially planned to use her assignments as an excuse to not visit the Palace.
However, her mother's enthusiasm had ruined the plan which she had not even been able to think of entirely.
Therefore, right now, she stared at the sheets with a thoughtful look on her face.
'Who else might have been invited?' Her mind began to work on something else that might keep her safe tomorrow since she could not escape the party hosted by the Princess.
Yvonne could only think of one man who was capable of possessing this information and without delay, she requested Demon to connect their mental link with that person.
'Yes?' She rolled her eyes when she heard the gruff and sleepy voice of her tutor coming from the other side.
'It is already morning, Marquess.' She reminded him, glancing at the tiny birds fluttering in the bright sky.
In response, she heard a groan and some incoherent mumbles which made her narrow her eyes.
'Did my pupil forget that our summer vacation has already begun?' Marquess Samed scoffed and his sarcastic retort made her sneer at him.
'Oh my! The amount of work I have been doing to finish your assignments made me forget all about it.' She smirked when she heard him coughing from the other side.
However, she soon stopped trying to argue with him because as much as she enjoyed seeing him lose in their battle of words, she had something that needed her attention.
"Marquess, find out who else was invited to the Princess's tea party." She instructed him without wasting too much time.
Since he had promised to share his information with her as atonement for lying to her back then, she wasn't too shy with what she wanted from him.
The drowsy man had shot up from his bed at what he had heard from his favored pupil.
"Tea party? When?" He inquired as he had no information about such a thing taking place.
The Royal Tutor had no clue about an event taking place within the Palace grounds?
How could the man who loved to gather information about those around him be calm after hearing that he was oblivious about this party being hosted by another one of his pupils?
"Give me some time." He replied, sitting up in bed before cutting off their communication as he had a lot of work to do in order to give her a satisfactory answer.
Yvonne knew that the gossip-lover would work passionately to gather the information she was seeking thus did not focus on this matter any longer.
"Tell Mama that I will not wear anything pink.." She turned and commanded her butler who nodded and left the room to complete the task assigned to him.
