That evening, Liu Longwei talks about going for a check-up with Chen Lihua.
After her doctor confirmed her pregnancy, she hasn't gone for another checkup, and Liu Longwei was worried about her. He was afraid she would suffer during childbirth just like in Taio's case, so he wanted her to be strict with her checkups.
"I'm truly worried about you and the baby." Liu Longwei said with a worried look on his face.
Chen Lihua was currently sitting on the bed. She could tell her husband was very worried about her.
"Darling you need to stop worrying, I will book an appointment with the doctor now. Everything will be fine." Chen Lihua said as she took out her phone.
"When you confirm the time, let me know because I would like to go with you." Liu Longwei said to her.
"Okay." Chen Lihua said in agreement as she dialed a number and put her phone close to her ear. After the first ring, the call was answered.
"Hello, Dr..." Chen Lihua greeted the doctor and they exchanged a few pleasantries, then she went ahead to book an appointment for tomorrow while Liu Longwei watched.
"Done. I'm going to see the Doctor by 3 PM tomorrow, is the time convenient for you?." Chen Lihua asked after the call.
"It's Sunday tomorrow, and I don't have anything on. We will go to see the doctor tomorrow." Liu Longwei replied as he came to her side to sit beside her.
He took her hands and kissed the back of her palms.
"I love you." He said to her in a gentle tone as he slowly looked up at her.
"I love you too." Chen Lihua said to him with a smile.
Liu Longwei smiled and hugged her. They stayed like that till Chen Lihua's phone rang.
"Who is disturbing us?." Liu Longwei g.r.o.a.n.e.d as he slowly let go of her.
Chen Lihua chuckled softly as she replied and picked up her phone. "It's a reminder I set earlier today. Come, we need to play games with Taio."
"What kind of games?." Liu Longwei asked as he helped her get off the bed.
"Maybe, the puzzle or and building blocks." Chen Lihua replied as she walked towards the door in excitement.
"Don't you think Taio should be sitting by this time?." Liu Longwei asked as they left the bedroom together. He was still looking for an opportunity to spend more time with her.
"It's past his nap time, he should be awake now." Chen Lihua replied without thinking twice. She didn't know the reason her husband was finding excuses, but all she wanted to do was to play with her son.
She felt that Taio was still young, and even though he had someone to take care of him, he still needed the attention of his parents.
Liu Longwei finally stopped giving excuses and followed her to Taio's bedroom, where they found a servant arranging the room, but their son and his Nanny were nowhere to be found.
"Where is my son?." Chen Lihua asked the servant.
The servant bowed as she replied, "The young master is playing in his playroom."
"See, he is awake already, let's go and find him." Chen Lihua said as she dragged Liu Longwei and left the room together.
When Chen Lihua and Liu Longwei stepped into what was supposed to be an indoor playhouse, they saw the little guy seriously, scribbling something with a pencil.
"What's he doing?." Chen Lihua asked in a hushed tone.
"I think he's writing or drawing something." Liu Longwei replied, not so sure of what their son was doing, but he looked so serious.
The Nanny followed her gaze to the little guy, who was still very busy and hadn't noticed his parent's presence. Understanding the situation, she nodded before stepping out of the room.
"Let's see what he's writing." Chen Lihua whispered to Liu Longwei in a hushed tone before taking quiet steps towards Taio.
Taio was sitting on a small desk meant for his age, and he looked so serious while writing things down.
Peeping from behind him, Chen Lihua was surprised with what she saw, so she beckoned on Liu Longwei to come and see for herself.
Liu Longwei took light steps over in other not to distract the little guy. Copying Chen Lihua's actions, he peeped from behind Taio and saw what he was writing, and he too was surprised.
"Is that not the Chinese alphabets?." Liu Longwei asked.
Chen Lihua was about to shush him, but it was too late. But surprisingly, Taio did not turn to look at them, he continued to put down the Chinese Characters he saw on the carton of one of his latest toys.
He didn't know what he was writing, but because he memorized some of the letters he saw, he decided to scribble them on the paper, so he could show his father and ask him the meaning.
Taio knew his parents were behind him, but he didn't react and wanted to finish putting down the words he memorized, so he wouldn't forget them.
But it looks likes, he wouldn't be able to achieve his goal.
"Taio, can you tell Mum what you are writing?." Chen Lihua asked in a plight to test him.
"I don't know," Taio replied as he put his pen down helplessly.
Liu Longwei noticed the expression the little guy had, so he squat beside him and asked in a gentle tone, "Did we disturb you? Mum and Dad are sorry."
"It's okay, I wouldn't have remembered everything," Taio replied, sparing his father a glance.
"Taio, answer Mummy, what did you write?." Chen Lihua asked again.
"I have no idea. I wanted to ask Dad about it." Taio replied in his baby voice.
Chen Lihua and Liu Longwei exchanged glances. They looked surprised and had a lot of questions to ask.
"Taio, where did you see these words?." Liu Longwei asked as he pointed at his scribbles.
Although the handwriting wasn't so pretty and was about messily, still, it was easy to recognize the pure Chinese characters written on the paper.
