Chapter 130 - Journey To The Rat's Pit

Cheng Xiu and San Zhe stood still in shock at the large machine in front of them.

It was shaped like a swan, made of gold, with beautiful peacock blue stone embedded in the place its eyes should be. There was a palanquin-like thing placed on top of it.

"What is this?" Cheng Xiu asked.

Yaksha put a small bead into his pocket and looked at the Swan Machine briefly. He gave Cheng Xiu a small smile, though she could not see it as the black mask on his face covered all his facial features.

"This is a Swan Ride," Yaksha said with an awkward smile. "My NPC sister, Diana, made me buy this. She lost interest in it after the first ride and returned the machine to me."

"Lord Yaksha," San Zhe said in a daze. "This was the exclusive ride sold in the Game Market for 50,000 gold coins."

Cheng Xiu blinked. "So cheap?"

San Zhe sweatdropped. "Where is 50,000 gold cheap?"

"Isn't it?"

"No. It isn't."

"Alright then."

San Zhe blinked at the dismissive tone in her voice.

"So this is the ride we are going to take to reach the Rock Pit?" Cheng Xiu asked. "Why not something a little less…extravagant?"

Yaksha blinked. "Diana likes these kinds of things…don't you?"

Cheng Xiu gave him a stressed smile. "I do. But the thing is…I just want to gather a regular player experience if you don't mind? Maybe…some other time?"

Yaksha sighed and waved his hand towards the machine.

Writing surfaced on the golden body, and the swan glowed completely in a beautiful light.

The machine turned into a glowing ball that was the size of a pebble and fell into Yaksha's waiting palm.

He returned it to his storage space again and looked at Cheng Xiu's waiting expression hesitantly.

"That was the most conspicuous one I had."

Cheng Xiu looked at him in disbelief. "How did you reach here so fast then?"

"Using a teleporting talisman. But those can only be used by those who are at Level 5 and above."

Yaksha, even though he had guessed the truth, was still shocked to learn that Cheng Xiu was at Level 3 until now.

"I can also use my Title in the game to transport over but the consequence is that we won't be able to enter any dungeons that are below level 10, and they would have to be B-ranked or above."

Cheng Xiu frowned. "So many conditions. What is your identity in the game anyway? San Zhe told me once that you are one of the few people who chose to be given a different race other than a human?"

Yaksha shook his head. "That is a misconception. You can become a different species later on as well. But yes, I got to choose my race in the beginning."

"Why?" Cheng Xiu asked. "What made you so special?"

"I played the beta version of The Other World before, and also started to play this game from its 1st official year as well."

Cheng Xiu's eyes widened. "You used to play the Primordials?"

Yaksha smiled. "We are losing time just staying here and talking. We should start walking if we should reach our destination quickly."

San Zhe reacted immediately. "that is right! Sister Xiu can not stay in the game world for too long!"

Cheng Xiu rolled her eyes at his words. "Don't you have something like the reptile cart or something?"

Yaksha stared at her for a moment and then shook his head.

"Walking it is then!" Cheng Xiu said with a clap of her hand and started to walk towards the west.

"Sister Xiu!"

Cheng Xiu stopped and looked towards San Zhe in confusion.

"We are supposed to head towards the east."

Cheng Xiu blushed and then turned in her direction.

Yaksha's brows knitted in worry.

San Zhe bit his lips. "She is…"

"It will be alright," Yaksha said and walked behind Cheng Xiu.

Cheng Xiu looked towards him with a smile.

San Zhe let out a long-held sigh and walked behind the two, his eyes trained on the figure of Cheng Xiu. Even though she had said that she was okay and that there was nothing wrong, he felt worried about her mental balance and also worried that being in the virtual world would mess with her mind even more.

They had started their journey at 10 in the virtual world and it was nearing noon already when they finally saw the peaks of the mountain range.

San Zhe also could not help think…this was the quietest tracking that he had done with anyone.

Cheng Xiu was far too busy looking at everything around her curiously to even consider the fact that she should give a face to the others, even though yaksha was the person who had ultimately saved her.

San Zhe cleared his throat.

The two in the front turned their faces towards him as they continued walking.

"This is one aspect of the game mechanics that I hate about the Other World," he said in a squeaky voice. "The time it takes to travel from one destination to the other is so long."

Cheng Xiu looked to the front again. "It depends on the player. Some like the long walks. And don't forget, they can teleport over to where they want."

"That is true," San Zhe said.

"After you reach level 10, you can access teleportations that will take you directly to the task place automatically for a price at the Quest Pillar Halls," Yaksha said to her.

Cheng Xiu looked at him in surprise, so did San Zhe.

"What?" the two Qiless said in shock together.

Yaksha looked at San Zhe in confusion. "Did you not know this?"

San Zhe shook his head. "I am only at level 6."

Yaksha sighed. "I see."

"You know," Cheng Xiu said after a moment of contemplating, "What I want to know is, why are almost all the mechanics starting at Level 5 or Level 10?"

Yaksha sighed. "Because after Level 10, you completed all the minor realms and are entering a new Major realm called the Foundation Realm. And your Qi roots…the Qi veins in your body is finally able to handle a lot more Qi distribution. You will find such restrictions in every game…The Other World just has a more…detailed restriction."

"I see," cheng Xiu said.

She felt the hair at the back of her neck raise as her eyes fell on the river that was flowing a few meters away from their position.

It was red in colour.
