Chapter 171 - Double The Effort

The two freaks that were known as Qiless attacked the golden shields in front of them with a renewed gusto.

Cheng Xiu created a cracked opening in the golden shield in front of her.

San Zhe created another large gash into the shield.

Cheng Xiu cracked another place of the shield.

San Zhe created another hole in the golden surface.

The two worked tirelessly as their attacks reached a point of continued grind.

Yaksha leaned against the wall, just staring ahead.

Though it was just simple actions, somehow, the two people were able to show such a sychronized attack that it made him wonder if they were twins. Though that shouldn't be the case, considering the fact that Cheng Xiu had talked to him about her family background when they had played the Primordials before.

'I have a mom, a dad, and a crazy grandma. A'Xing! What more do I want, Ah? You should go back to what ever great calamity you came from. I don't want a big brother!'

Yaksha's lip curled into a smile as he remembered those words of hers.

He focused on San Zhe and Cheng Xiu again.

The two of them were attacking the shield with great determination.

San Zhe's speed started to increase.

Cheng Xiu kept up with his momentum.

San Zhe tried not to think about the fact that a Level 3 player was able to keep up with the speed of a Level 6 player, which was a very unscientific thing that he had ever seen before. Better not to focus on that. He had better just concentrate on destroying the shield in front of him faster.

San Zhe and Cheng Xiu continued to attack for a 3 minutes straight.

The NPCs just glared at them, not doing anything else.

"Why are they not attacking?"

"Maybe using the Spell Book restricts the number of spells that they could use," Cheng Xiu guessed. "They must be giving the shield a continuous supply of Qi which is not possible if they are also trying to use other spells. It would maybe weaken the shield, and that would destroy the purpose of having a shield in the first place."

"And maybe them being of a Low Level Dungeon also was a factor."

Cheng Xiu nodded at San Zhe words.

At the 4th minute mark of the activation of San Zhe's skill, Cheng Xiu destroyed the shield in front of her.

"Brother San! Stop attacking!" Cheng Xiu screamed.

Though he was unwilling, San Zhe listened to her. He put down his weapon and backed away. He was still not half way there.

The NPC in front of Cheng Xiu opened her Spell Book again.

Cheng Xiu weaved the swords around her to attack on the NPC as she raised her own sword to attack the woman.

Though unwilling, the woman closed her eyes and created a second shield around her.

Cheng Xiu attacked the shield with the Ghost Flame coated sword.

Ting—

The sound of metal meeting metal could be heard easily.

The black flame in Cheng Xiu's control moved as though it was agitated by a great wind. Cheng Xiu felt her control of the skill loosen a bit.

Cheng Xiu smirked. "A shield targeting my Ghost Flame in particular? How very rude."

San Zhe blinked. Why did Cheng Xiu's words seem like she was reading out a screenplay or something? What was her purpose of doing this? Why couldn't he attack?

The golden shield in front of him flared and then broke into many crystaline particles and disappeared.

San Zhe blinked. What just happened?

A Blue shield appeared in its place.

San Zhe looked at the shield in front of him confusion. "What is going on?"

"Didn't you notice it?" Cheng Xiu asked with a smile.

"Notice what?" San Zhe asked.

Cheng Xiu chuckled. "The second NPC can not use the Spell Book on her own."

San Zhe blinked at her in confusion. "Huh?"

Cheng Xiu smiled. "She will always use the spell set that her sister is using, regardless of the situation. No matter if it is right spell to use or not. She also does not know about the spells in the book. She has to wait for her sister to use it to know what she should use as well."

San Zhe nodded in understanding. "I just have one question."

Cheng Xiu tilted her head. "What is it?"

"Why is there so much of details for a Low Level Dungeon?"

"Aren't you the expert between us?"

"Nope. I don't think I am qualified anymore."

Cheng Xiu shrugged. "I honestly don't know. Yaksha, do you?"

Yaksha blinked. "What happened to the Ge you used to add to my name?"

"Is this any time to be asking such questions? Just tell me."

Yaksha looked towards the two NPCs who were grinding their teeth. He knew what they were thinking. They had never met players who would be so casual about fighting them before.

Yaksha smiled behind his mask. It really was an interesting way to play the game.

"There might be two reasons...though both are my own speculations," he said to them.

Cheng Xiu waved her hand. "That is fine. Just tell us."

"First, the Clock Tower of the Viridian Forest is too old an existance," he said to her. "Which means that the NPCs in it would have a bit different stories to the ones that we are used to in the other towers."

Cheng Xiu nodded her head. "What is the second guess?"

Yaksha tilted his head. "The entire Vixia Kingdom has been upgraded to S Rank. That means that all the Quests in it would be readjusted to meet with the rank of the Kingdom that they are in."

"Could it be a combination of both?" Cheng Xiu asked him, her brows furrowing under the mask.

Yaksha nodded. "I think it is a combination of the two. The Clock Tower is old, giving the NPC world a far richer experience and the world of the Clock Tower has also increased its difficulty."

"We are facing a double whammy," San Zhe muttered. He looked towards Cheng Xiu with a complicated look.

"What?" the girl asked.

"You have really shitty luck," he told her.

Cheng Xiu's eyes were dull at his words. "Thanks."

"You are welcome."
