Cheng Xiu smiled.
That was another thing that got conformed for her. The twins would use the Spell Books. She even suspected that it was the only way that they could combat.
Da Hua started to mutter a spell.
"Ghost Flame!" Cheng Xiu said and threw the black flame at the woman.
Da Hua dodged to the side, her spell breaking off. She glared at the Human cultivator.
Cheng Xiu observed the two women. There was something about the two that she thought was strange, and she wondered if she would offend them if she asked it.
"Can I ask you something?" Cheng Xiu asked.
Xiao Hua laughed at her mockingly. "Weak, delusional and polite. You are meant to be killed, aren't you?"
Da Hua sighed. "Xiao Hua, let the girl speak. What is it?"
"Are both of you the wives of the king?" Cheng Xiu asked them.
Xiao Hua glared at her. "So what if we are? What are you going to do about it?"
Cheng Xiu pursed her lips. "Does the king have a liking towards…twins?"
Xiao Hua froze.
Da Hua looked at her in surprise and then burst out laughing. "You were right, sister. Really a delusional girl!"
"If he does?" Xiao Hua asked instead of giving her sister much attention.
Cheng Xiu was surprised by the fact that it was Xiao Hua who answered her instead of Da Hua. She was sure that the Xiao hated her before.
"You don't need to answer this if you don't want to," Cheng Xiu told them
"Then why bother asking?" Da Hua said with a sneer.
Cheng Xiu kept her face black, not letting the two girls to see her response to those words. She just turned to Xiao Hua.
Xiao Hua tilted her head. "Ask. I will answer if I think that you are worthy of my answer.
"Then…how did you two become the wives?" Cheng Xiu asked. Seeing the two giving her a confused look, Cheng Xiu elaborated. "I mean, did the king just give out an order that all the twins in his command would become his bride? Or did your guardians decide to give you to the king after knowing your preference for a hefty money?"
Da Hua frowned.
Xiao Hua shook her head. "That…what if I told you it was both?"
Cheng Xiu cringed. "I…am sorry for you remember bad things then."
Xiao Hua gave her a mocking laugh. "Me and my sister were the children of poor common rats, we did not have the right to anything. Not even our own life. Becoming the King's wives has allowed us to wear beautiful clothes, walk on two feet like humans, eat great food, read many things and our life is more valued than it was before."
Da Hua nodded in agreement.
Xiao Hua spit to the ground. "As though I would say that."
Da Hua froze and looked at Xiao Hua in shock.
"We are nothing more than playthings for the king, abandoned after we were played with to the heart's content. Even now, we are not even allowed to do what we want to do, go where we want to go, forever stuck in the upper chambers, forced to toil away every day to reach the summit, having to deal with invaders like you. Instead, I would have liked to go back to my books if I was given a chance to."
Cheng Xiu frowned. She looked at Da Hua and then at Xiao Hua. "Your sister clearly disagrees."
"I would like to play with swords," Xiao said to her in a whisper, "she likes to play with flowers in the garden. I would like to climb the hills, she would like to sit still in a corner of the king's room, and stare at him. How can she agree to my idea."
Da Hua puckered her lips. "I…"
Cheng Xiu's mind worked. Though these siblings argued and disagreed with each other, she could sense that their relationship was different from the first pair of twins. In those, the second always imitated the first. While here, the first and the second were clearly not the same person or imitations of someone. They seemed like real siblings.
She would not be able to create a discord between them so easily as she did for the first pair. But if these two are supposed to be clues about the Queens, did that mean the queens have completely different personalities altogether? Is the spell book the only point of commonality between the pairs?
"So the Queens should be like you two as well huh? Someone who was dragged into this by their relatives or the law?" Cheng Xiu asked.
She did not think they would tell her anything substantial. She only asked it for the sake of keeping the conversation going. After all, what use was it to know if the queens came here through the law or were betrayed by their acquaintances. After all, this was just a low level dungeon, there wouldn't be too deep a plot at this level.
"How can they be like us!" Da Hua asked in an offended voice. She glared at Cheng Xiu with bloodshot eyes. "They are unnatural creatures! They are the reason that lead to the king developed such a perverted desire! We-we-we-"
Da Hua burst into tears.
Xiao Hua cringed.
Cheng Xiu was surprised by the human like moments of the sisters. "I did not mean to make you upset! I am sorry."
Xiao Hua sighed. "Really naïve. I will tell you something, little girl, we are not humans, even if we look like you all."
Cheng Xiu shrugged. "Emotions are not exclusive to humans."
Da Hua cried harder.
Xiao Hua rolled her eyes, and gave Da Hua a kick in the calf.
The girl fell to the ground and started to wail even more.
"Why are you crying?" Xiao Hua asked her.
"I am sorry," the girl said to her sister. "This is all my fault. It is my obsessive love for the king that put you in this position, brother!"
Cheng Xiu's eyes widened. "Brother?"
Xiao Hua kicked the fallen girl in the butt. "You useless thing! Look what you revealed!"
Cheng Xiu gave them a strained smile when Xiao Hua looked over at her.
"So you are a…boy."
"A man," Xiao Hua said to her in disdain. "I am 25 in human years."
Cheng Xiu raised her eyebrows. "So why do you sound like a teenager?"
Xiao Hua pursed her…his lips. "Because that was the age at which I changed from a common rat to a Rat Cultivator in a human form."
A thought occurred to her at that point. "Then the Queens…the ones who started all this…they might not necessarily be women."
Da Hua shook her head. "The real one is…"
"Real one?" Cheng Xiu asked.
Xiao Hua hualed his sister up and then looked at Cheng Xiu. "It looks like you have a strong power that can harm anything that has Qi…those like me and my sister are basically walking fuels at that point. We admit our defeat. Good bye!"
Cheng Xiu blinked in confusion as the two started to fade.
"Wait! What do you mean real one!"
The two figures had disappeared.
Cheng Xiu looked at the place where they stood a moment ago in a daze as the scene around her changed and she stood in front of San Zhe and Yaksha again.
"Brother San?" Cheng Xiu asked in a daze, "Yaksha ge?"
San Zhe raised his trident to pierce her heart.
Yaksha took hold of the trident and yanked it away from San Zhe.
"Lord Yaksha! What happ-"
"It is the real Little Sela now."
San Zhe blinked and looked at Cheng Xiu closely.
He couldn't recognise the difference between her and the one they fought with before.
San Zhe dashed towards her for a moment, and pulled her into an embrace. "You are okay! Thank god! I was so scared! When you first attacked me, I thought you were again under the control of the mind control spell! It was Lord Yaksha who told me that the you from before was a fake! Then there were two of you! And both claimed to be you! But neither was you! I was really angry at that time! We met four pairs of yous! I am honestly sick of yous now. Can there only be a you now?"
Cheng Xiu felt dizzy from San Zhe's explanation. She sorted out what he said in her mind.
The gist of it was that they were attacked by people who looked like her. And they seemed to come in pairs. Twins.
"There is only one of me now," Cheng Xiu assured him.
"That is great!" San Zhe said to her. "We found out something while you were gone though! The King is in weird mental state and he is climbing the wall. The subjects are being forced to follow his lead due to an imperial order. What did you find?"
Cheng Xiu smiled. "This King is reaching the SS rank soon. The queens might not be twins though they might look like it. In fact, one of the queens would be a fake. An imitation, like the first twins that we saw. But seeing as the imitation is of the queen it would be of a higher grade. And they might only have the spell books as their attack weapons."
San Zhe felt what it was like to be overloaded with information.
