88 I Just Hated My Blood

They stood on the side watching the men pull Jacob into a kneeling position.

Amber knew full well that this person loves his life more than anything else.

So with a threat he started saying I'm sorry, as if it was a chant.

She couldn't help but sigh, she was still mad, very very mad. But just as she had said a while ago, his life is nothing compared to Carl's.

The gun shots she had inflicted in Jacob's legs were mended during the travel. She didn't want him to collapse due to blood lose.

She'd rather have them mend his wounds than for him to stop kneeling.

A few minutes later, she received a call, it was from Luke Edwards.

"I don't know if this is significant or not but, once a year, Jacob would meet Glenn Price. It looks like a normal partnership but they met a couple more times before what happened to the weapon company."

"And just as the company was starting."

The guys watched her as she suddenly marched towards Jacob who was still apologizing. She took out her gun as she slowly made way towards him.

Jacob was terrified upon seeing her approach with such a deadly look.

Upon reaching him, she stood right in front of him and pointed the gun right before his eyes.

"Wh- What do you need?" he stuttered due to the pain and fear.

"I just have one simple question, answer truthfully before a bullet would pierce through your eyes making your brain explode."

Blake and the others looked at her confusedly. They were a bit far and she was speaking in a low voice, so low that only Jacob could hear her.

She moved even closer and asked, "Glenn Price, was it him who planned this out with you?"

Jacob was stunned, his back broke into cold sweat. He felt his heart jump into his throat.

But he didn't speak.

Amber smiled sweetly and menacingly at the same time.

"Could you be scared of him? I say, I am the one infront of you right now. Should you be scared of him or me?"

She pushed the gun to his left eye, the men holding him, take hold of his head allowing the knozzle to remain in contact with his eyelids. He can feel the pressure coming from her pushing.

Jacob winced in pain but he was still being held down by the guards. The pain from his wounds were already too much and now the fear of the gun being right in front of his eyes was more scary than when it was behind his head.

"Now speak, yes or no?"

His breathing became heavier, he can see clearly that her finger was ready to pull the trigger.

He swallowed a mouthful of saliva as he stared back at her eyes, her eyes were so cold but at the same time they were like a pit of fire ready to burn him alive.

"Still nothing? Do you really need me to push it through your eyes?"

As she speak, she pushed the knozzle even more to his eyes and pain shot through him as he felt like his eyes would be crashed by her strength.

"Yes!! Yes!! The answer is yes!!"

Jacob blurted out, Amber pulled away her hand.

She looked like, life just left her. Her face turned pale and her eyes that was cold became a complicated myriad of emotions.

She first looked at Ashton before looking at Cedric then turned around looking at Carl's name on the tombstone.

"Hideous, they truly are hideous aren't they?"

She then looked back at Jacob and gave him the strongest punch she could give. She wanted to shot him and make him bleed but that would be too fast for him.

She could only punch him twice and make him continue his apology before going back to where the others were standing.

Upon coming close to the others, she leaned on Ashton with her eyes closed.

"An eye for an eye. A tooth for a tooth. The debts of life, I will collect it ten more times."

Ashton looked down at her upon hearing her words. He didn't know why but there's something else she found out for her to react this way.

*****

After watching Jacob for a few more minutes they decided to go and have something to eat, no one asked what it was that Amber have found out.

They knew she would tell them eventually once she knew it was time.

But even during their meal, she remained silent and somehow she looked lifeless.

"Where do you stay?" after bidding the others goodbye, Ashton asked her while starting the car.

When she gave the address, he couldn't help but frown. He fished out his phone and made a call for someone else to go there and take all her things.

Amber who was already leaning back with her eyes closed opened them and looked at him.

"I'll bring you to my place, you were staying for a month in such a small apartment with little security? Aren't you worried that they might already know who you are?"

The car moved as he reprimanded her.

"Grandfather assigned more guards to me."

He wanted to keep reprimanding her but seeing her tired look, he remained silent and focused on driving.

Amber removed her wig and contact lens before heaving a sigh of relief, "I really hate this kinds of things."

After tossing them on her bagpack, she once again closed her eyes and left him to drive on his own.

The past month was truly very tiring for her and now that everything was settled she just wanted to rest and sleep for the whole day.

She knew she'll have to explain things to them, what she did, how she did it, it may not be to everyone but she must tell all these to Ashton.

*****

She felt herself floating but her eyes remained close, she was too lazy to know what was going on. She trusted Ashton and that was all.

When she felt her back touch the soft bed, she finally opened her eyes. He was ready to stand up straight and walk out when she reached out her hand and held unto his arm.

"This may sound weird but could you lie down with me?"

Ashton sighed but still did what she had asked, he was stunned when she suddenly hugged him by the waist after lying down.

"Whatever I'm going to tell you, promise me you'll stay here and won't be too rush."

She wanted to get this off her chest, she would only be able to rest well if she finally told him.

"I won't be able to leave even if you didn't ask me to, you're hugging me too tight," Ashton replied.

His hands on his side as he allowed her to hug him.

"He was just a pawn."

He looked down at her after hearing her voice that was filled with sadness.

"Pawn?"

"Jacob was just a pawn, someone else initiated the plan of pulling you down."

"What do you mean?"

She looked up and her eyes were teary, she somehow hated the fact that her blood is somehow the same as that bastard's blood. She hated how much they were blood related.

"Who initiated it then?"

Seeing her looked at him guiltily, he could only reached for her hair and caress it as he asked with a much gentler tone.

She looks so scared to him right now.

"Glenn... Price."

His movements stopped the moment he heard the name, Amber hugged him tighter afraid that he would suddenly jumped out of the bed and run to where Glenn was.

She haven't fallen in love with him yet but he was already important to her, the time she spent with him was far longer than the others.

Her once piqued interest turned to genuine care and attachment.

Ashton looked down at her, "Why do you look so guilty?"

"I just hated my blood," she replied honestly.

"You really can't choose who your family are but you must not hate your blood especially since the ones who are directly related to you, loves you dearly."

His hands cupped her cheek and touched the area below her eyes that was also exposed from the mask.

"Why don't you go to sleep now?"

His fury was there but seeing how she truly didn't want him to go berserk again, he couldn't help but to soften for her.

"But..."

"I won't leave, I already promised. I'll accompany you and remain here, we can get back to that person together."

"I still don't have the power to go and confront him, that is the greatest slap I received during this ordeal. His image in the outside world was a good one."

"While mine was currently completely tarnished. So don't worry, not until I've got the power and the means to confront him, I won't do anything. So sleep now."

Her eyelids were already heavy anyway, so after being reassured she finally closed her eyes but she remained hugging him.

It didn't take long before she finally fell asleep, Ashton caressed the area beneath her eyes, dark circles were completely visible.

'You've really went out of your way for my sake. I'll make sure that someday, I will instead be the one who will get back at the people who have wronged you.'

After declaring in his mind he bent down and planted a soft kiss on her forehead that was still with band aid.
