169 To This Amber Just Laughed

"Oh you're looking straight in my eyes longer now," Amber commented as she looks away from him.

She faced her computer and started opening different files.

"Then tell me one thing, since we already are acquainted with one another. We are, right?" he suddenly became uncertain with his words.

"Oh please, if we are not then I wouldn't have brought you up here. You really don't only trust other but your emotions don't you?" she replied as her hands didn't stop from typing.

"You talk as if you know everything," he retorted.

Amber just shrugged upon hearing his retort, she may not know everything but she knew more than what he thinks she knew.

"So you were the pianist? The Pianist that had always been so aloof," he couldn't help but say after getting such reaction from her.

Amber turned to look at him bobbing her brows up and down.

He shook his head in her playfulness, "How much will I earn if I inform them about you?"

Amber just stared at him for his bad joke.

"Anyway, as I was saying. Who are you taking your revenge to?" he cleared his throat and returned to his first question.

"Before I answer that, let me ask you one thing. Assuming you know about what happened between Ash, Madison and Glenn. What is Glenn to you and Xander?" she finally turned serious and asked.

Timothy sighed. He clenched his hands into a fist.

"We… are his stepping stones."

Amber remained silent as she waited for him to continue.

"We have to meet so many people and show our capabilities, then we'll have to show this people that he is better than us. That's how it has been for so long, he must outshine us in order for him to rise even more."

"People who loves using others as stepping stones are just the worst," she finally said with a bitter laugh.

"What can we do? That's just how it is? The family had always been like that," he replied.

Amber raised an eyebrow at him, "You have your company while Xander's career was good. You don't have to stay there longer, why still choose to suffer?"

He scoffed, "I told you, you don't know everything. We just… can't leave."

After saying this, he furrowed his brows, "Why are you asking about Glenn? You're revenge is towards him? All of your preparations?"

Amber shook her head, "I don't need all these preparations if I just wanted him, I have more means to take revenge on him."

"Not only him is what you mean, then who else?"

"An empire," she simply said propping her head in her hand.

"Are you…"

He didn't whether to continue his question or if he can continue it.

Amber smiled at him, "You can continue."

He slowly shook his head as he stare at her.

He couldn't help but to remember Ashton's story of her parents being assassinated.

"The assassination…"

Amber's smile turned sweeter.

This was her most dangerous look, her sweetest smile.

Timothy could also see the dangerous glint in her eyes. He was taken aback for she looks so cold in contrast with her usual jolliness.

"Yes, it is indeed they. It was the Price Empire who killed my parents. It is the same Empire you are currently in," she continued what he wanted to ask and what he wanted to ask.

He felt like a bomb was thrown where they are currently standing, it was as if the ground was shaking and he felt his ear ringing.

This news was too great for him. It was the Empire he was in, the same blood were running in their veins.

And here he was joking and speaking with someone whose parents were assassinated right in front of her.

Assassinated by those whom he calls his relatives.

He blinked a few times, he didn't know how he was supposed to keep facing her now and he felt like he was no longer allowed to do so.

This had always been the case towards all those servant's families.

He chose to stay away from them, he felt guilty, for he couldn't stop his family from doing what they do.

He felt so powerless.

"Now, now, don't look at me like that, you look so guilty. Why? Have you done something to feel guilty about?" Amber asked, she felt a prick in her heart upon seeing his pained look.

"It was not you and your brother who killed them, you don't even know about it," she added, trying to reassure him.

"But… You…"

Ashton has told them that she buried her parents herself.

"You are the one who wants to know, why are you being like this now?" she said as she turned her chair, typing on her keyboard.

"If you look at me like that, feeling guilty for having the same blood as them. Then what am I supposed to feel? I was also with them during that time," she continued.

But it slipped Timothy's ear, the word 'also'.

This was her referring to having the same blood as them and being there, witnessing their death but couldn't even do anything to help them.

"Ah!"

As if remembering something, she turned around and faced him again after typing a few keys in her keyboard.

"Don't worry. You are exempted to those people who I am going to get back at. You cannot be included."

Timothy no longer knows how he will react or what he should feel, she was so sure of so may things, he could also see within her eyes and in her movements, there was confidence and honesty.

That he and Xander could not be included to what she's currently doing.

"Is it because we are friends with Ash?" he couldn't help but ask.

"You could say that."

"Then, does this mean that he knew of this? All about your plans? Your revenge was informed by him, how about everything else?"

He decided to sit down, feeling weak to his knees.

"Of course, he knew. He knew every single thing," she replied honestly.

"Alissa and the others?" he asked afterwards.

She looked him straight in the eyes and she internally shook her head.

'Subconsciously, he didn't know. He was now subconsciously worrying about her. Is the two of them so dense that they haven't realized this yet?'

She had this thought before she replied to him.

"They do, they all do. Eve Blake, Devon and Aldger, though Aldger only knew because he was in constant contact with the others back then."

"Then Brian, Mathew, Xander and I am the only ones who didn't know?" he asked upon hearing her response.

"Should I apologize then?" she asked with an innocent look.

"That you are now acquainted with such a dangerous person?"

Despite the mask, with her eyes looking at him innocently, her whole being exudes innocence that Timothy wished to hit her in the head.

With her look, dangerous can no longer be equated to her.

"Don't act innocent if you're going to ask me such question," Timothy who finally snapped out of his shock, finally retorted.

Amber laughed, "What? You sound like I wronged you for not telling the four of you about this. But you knew of my revenge. So are you leaving then?"

"Are you belittling our current situation? Our lives are all connected with the word danger."

"The way you reply to me now, has your back bone returned?" she teased him.

"There you go again, finding enjoyment in teasing other people," he squinted his eyes on her.

Amber just laughed before looking back on her monitors.

It was few minutes later that her movements suddenly stopped.

When Timothy peered at what she was staring at, it was Alissa's schedule for the past week.

He heard her sigh heavily, "Was I still too lenient?"

"Lenient? What? With the current scandal?" he asked as she started printing the files she has collected.

"I guess, I really need my back bone now as well?" she looked at him and asked.

"Huh? What are you talking about?" confusion filled his face by her different questions that don't seem to be connected with one another.

"You came here for Alissa right? Since were done here, let's go back now," she suddenly replied instead of answering his question.

"Why would I come here for her?" he asked.

Amber chuckled before taking everything that she printed out.

"Then why are you here?"

"It's because I need to speak with he-"

He stopped.

Amber grinned, "See, you came here for her. What are you thinking when I said those words?"

"You- Really I don't know when I'll have a serious talk with you," he brushed his hair up in frustration.

"Just admit it already, you came here because you are worried of her," she said before walking towards the elevator.

"Wo- Hey who said I am worried?" he followed after being stunned for a good few seconds.

To this, Amber just laughed.
