246 Yes, They Would Surely Like You

She looked at Ashton with confused eyes, "They're destroyed. Are these cheap?"

Ashton smiled, he even tried his best not to laugh at her last remark, and took the pendant from her hand and picked up the bracelet that came off.

"I didn't do anything yet," she complained even more.

Ashton chuckled looking at her wronged face. His hands moved and checked the bracelet.

"Here you go," he said giving her back the bracelet.

"Aaaahhh, it's gone, the design is gone!!" she exclaimed the moment she saw that the bracelet's pendant was also gone.

She stood up and started searching for it on the ground.

"This grasses are hindrance I can't find it. Don't just stand there and help me," she said as she was looking intently at the ground.

Ashton watched her with an amused look, she was seriously looking for something she will never find no matter how hard she looks.

"Amber," he called but she was too busy.

"Amber."

"Help me look for it and hold unto that pendant tightly, it is much smaller so dropping it would be no good," she said not looking back at him.

Ashton shook his head with a defeated smile and pulled her hand, making her face him.

The moment she turned around to look at him, he inserts something on her left ring finger.

She looks down to see the design of the bracelet together with the pendant of the necklace combined into a ring.

A very beautiful ring, like the vines were on fire because of the color of the gem.

"The first ring was not a proper engagement ring, though I designed it as a kid. It was not really me who gave it to you."

Amber could only stare at him.

He smiled and raised her hands to his lips kissing it, "Too much ring is not good so I was planning for that crown ring to become our wedding ring together with what you gave me."

He held both her hands and looked straight in her eyes, "I can't give you another designed ring because you won't be able to wear them both so I have decided to create a necklace and a bracelet for it allowing you to wear them both if you wanted."

Amber once again looked down at the ring in her finger.

It was shinning beautifully and she couldn't help but to tear up.

She looked back at him, "This…"

"You said that a proposal is no longer needed but I think you deserve one and since you were adamant in marrying me I no longer need to kneel down and ask you if you will marry me."

He chuckled as he fixed her hair behind her ear, "You have asked me to marry you a couple of times already anyway."

Amber pouted after he said this, to which Ashton just gave her a peck causing her to be startled.

He smirked, "I thought you were asking for a kiss."

Ashton laughed before looking back at her seriously.

"You have given me a promise but I haven't given you an answer to that yet."

'Oh that was what I was just thinking a while ago,' she thought.

"Stop your mind from wandering for now will you and listen carefully to me," he said flicking a finger on her forehead.

"I have once said that I would never leave you but I have realized that I so easily turn my back on you. I thought I was doing it in order not to hurt you with my anger but I guess I was doing the opposite."

(Flashback)

Upon coming home the night before he could hear whimpers coming from the study room.

Knowing that she was there he opened the door and found her sleeping while leaning on the chair. Her brows were furrowed and her cheeks were stained with tears.

"Ash… Ash… please where are you?... You promised… you promised you won't leave… why did you turn your back?"

Hearing her words in her sleep he felt like cold water was poured on him. He had finally woken up.

Every time he was mad or when they fight, he would always turn around and walk away.

He didn't want her to see his angered look or disappointment or hurt look.

He thought that was something he could do to her until he cooled down but he was actually doing the opposite.

He walked towards her and carried her on his lap, she didn't wake up but she curled herself towards him even more as if finding warmth within the coldness.

"Shhh…" he whispered as he wiped her tears.

"I'm sorry," he added as he massages the area in between her brows.

"I'm sorry, I will never turn my back on you again," he repeatedly said as he planted a kiss on top of her head.

(End Of Flashback)

She didn't knew of it and he didn't need to tell her either but that moment he have decided firmly that no matter how mad he is or how hurt he is he would face her instead of turning away.

"That is why from now on I promise you, I will never turn away no matter what fight we will have in the future I will surely face you. I will hold unto you and tell you everything."

His grip on her hands tightened as Amber pursed her lips, "Just as I have said in the past, I will remain by your side no matter what happens. I will face everything with you."

"Not just as friends, not just as lovers, not just as comrades but as husband and wife, till death do as part."

Tears came as she heard his promise and the sincerity and resolve in his eyes.

She said that a proposal is no longer needed but he just did that. Even if she said that she no longer needed it, she was actually overwhelmed with happiness right now.

She sobbed as she bowed her head down her tears kept coming and she just couldn't stop them.

She had been talking about marriage with him and he had agreed but she had been waiting for it to come straight from his mouth.

He may have been the first to confess but it was her who forced him into this engagement.

They could remain as lovers if he was not yet ready to be tied down by a knot. She was willing to wait and to not force him this time.

Yet here he was vowing in front of her and she just couldn't help but be emotional.

~"Be strong, sweetheart. Remember that, even if we're not around you have to be strong and don't let others look down or bully you. You are a proud daughter of ours after all. I'm not telling you to do it now, maybe 5 years later or so. But do find a man who will love you more than we do. Someone who will cherish you for who you are and not because of your background. Live happily. We love you."~

That was her father's last words to her.

She sobbed even more as she remembered this, 'I have found him father.'

She looked back at him and could see worry in his eyes for she was crying too much but she just cupped his face and kissed him fully in the lips.

'It's not five years though I have found him instantly. We may have been apart for so long but he was here now and I am here now. He loves me for who I am and is willing to stand by my side no matter what.'

Ashton was stunned at first before one arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her closer while the other went at the back of her neck.

Amber's hands moved and hugged him by the neck.

He can taste her tears and somehow even he felt sad by it, he can somehow feel her emotion without knowing why.

She kissed him earnestly, 'He understood me very well and we could connect no matter how far apart we are. You will surely like him father. Both you and mother would surely like him for me.'

Her tears didn't stop as the kiss went on, they part when both were about to lose their breaths.

Ashton placed his forehead on hers, "Your parents are surely happy. I may not be perfect but I promise that I will love you and cherish you no matter what."

At some point he came to understand the reason behind her tears, maybe that's just how strong their connection is.

Amber sobbed even more, "Yes, they would surely like you."

Ashton was the one who cupped her face this time and wiped her unending tears.

He kissed her in the forehead then each of her eyes, then her cheeks, wiping the tears that stained them before he once again claimed her lips.
