264 Don't Sister Me, What Was With That Attitude?

Among the top culinary person of the country even winning some awards in Celestial Country.

But twenty years ago, at the height of his career, he suddenly disappeared.

Rumours of what had happened were spread.

That he was backstabbed by his closest colleagues.

That he was left alone by his lover for another man.

That he was old enough that his tasting was already deteriorating.

Among them, the third reason was the closest to the truth.

He once had a lover but they didn't last long, he also had a trusted friend but they too had a fall out.

That is why when he was at his lowest there was no one beside him, something he regretted so much.

If he just loved his lover more or if he just took care of his friendship then maybe when those jealous people poisoned him, he had someone he could turn to.

But alas, there was none and seeing the way Jackson acts, like he can do everything on his own after being bullied so much. He knew this child might end up just like him.

Someone who was all alone and had nothing other than his talent in cooking.

Even his fame has completely disappeared. And those who were his so called fans forgot about his name.

"I don't know how to thank you. You were pulled into this and still kept going," Amber said looking at him seriously.

"I never told you about this didn't I? The reason why I still kept going despite that child standing on his own already?" Simon chuckled.

"What is it?" Amber asked.

"Those who ruined my career were closely affiliated with the Price Empire. I had been thinking whether I should get back at them or not. That is why when you gave me the opportunity, I need to think it over and over again."

Amber was shock, she didn't expect this.

"Then it came to me, why can't I? Why must I stop myself from getting back at them I admit I had so much pride back then but I never trampled on anyone."

"I was bossy and all but I never hurt anyone. That is why I am still here. Why I am still willing to be your hand, it is because I too have some grudge to pay."

"Just how many did the Price went up against in order to reach the place they are currently at?" she couldn't help but ask.

"Who knows, maybe there are more who chose to stay in the dark," was his answer.

"Who was it then? The one who did this to you?" she asked.

This is the first time that she actually asked him about his circumstances. She didn't try in the past for they were not close and there was no connection between them.

Who would have thought that they really have something in common?

The have the same enemies, the Price Empire.

Amber knew who that was, he was the husband of Silvia Price. One of the daughters of Katelyn White, her grandaunt.

To be precise husband of her father's cousin.

No wonder they got away with poisoning such a prominent person and no wonder it was poison.

"The Price truly are hideous people," she clenched her hands into a fist as she said this in gritted teeth.

"That is why, I am not doing this just for you but I am also doing this for myself. I resigned to my fate and lived my life in silence for almost twenty years, then in the most unexpected way. You came to me."

"An opportunity opened up for me. I am no longer longing for my sense of taste to return to the way it was but all I am wishing now is to see them crumble down as well."

Amber could see the tiredness in his eyes as he spoke of what had happened to him.

She can see that he really just accepted his fate and just wanted to live his life as a culinary teacher.

But she can also see that deep within them was a newly lit fire.

"An eye for an eye, are you willing to see that outcome?" she asked afterwards.

Simon smiled, "I like that. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a talent for a talent."

"Yes, I have heard of it. One of their children have some strong talent in culinary. If I was not mistaken it was Diana."

"You really did do your homework didn't you?" he said amusedly.

"Well, if I want to get my revenge, I need to learn everything about them. Every single thing I need to know."

"Very well, I'll help you make this restaurant prosper in exchange I want to see their looks once their pride hit rock bottom the way I did," he answered.

"A deal it is then," Amber reached out her hand and shook his.

In the past, she has no idea what she can do for him for helping her out in establishing Natan. But now she knew, her revenge could help him as well.

"By the way, I heard that you got married," Simon changed the topic and asked.

"Oh yes, I have, did Jackson told you?" she asked in return.

"You know that kid, he looks strict with the staff but he was actually a very talkative person. Too talkative at times actually," he shook his head.

Amber could see though, the doting look in his eyes. Jackson have become quite precious to him, well he became precious to her as well already.

When she told him that she got married in one of their calls, he actually threw a tantrum that they didn't invite him to be the one to handle their food.

"Well it took me a bit of coaxing in order to ease his anger of not being the one to cook for the food of our wedding," she said in a defeated tone.

"A child will always be a child," Simon commented with a laugh.

"Hey why are you guys dissing me behind my back?"

Just then the door opened and came Jackson.

"Other than that, did you ditch work?" Amber said brushing off his complain.

"Other than that?!?" Jackson stared at her like a hurt child.

"You guys are dissing me behind my back and you are brushing it off just like that?"

"Indeed, a child will always be a child," she said looking at Simon.

Simon laughed and nodded at her in agreement.

"Hey, stop that will you. I am already old enough," he kept going.

"Old enough? Since when is a 16 year old kid old enough?" she asked again.

"I am a working person now, despite not being 18 yet," he argued back.

Amber nodded, "Indeed that took us a whole lot of trouble because you were just 16 and you are already working."

"That's..."

He has no retort, 16 could do part time jobs but he was already working full time. When they started, this part is indeed the most troublesome part.

"Anyway, what happened with my sister?"

Seeing as he has no chance of winning this argument, he decided to change the topic.

Amber's look became serious upon the mention of his sister.

Jackson Philipp, the only half brother of Hayley Coleman.

She first saw him back during the birthday celebration of their grandfather.

He was but an 8 year old kid who was acting too mature for his age.

When Hayley and her family left, this kid showed up in front of the hotel. At first, he was searching for his sister but after finding out that she was no longer around.

He decided to search for Amber instead.

He was that kid whom they left alone in front of the hotel until he himself comes out and introduce himself.

The way he sneaks around back then was truly a sight to remember when comparing to the him right now.

"Why do you look like you are about to laugh?" Jackson asked upon noticing her look.

"I just suddenly remembered that 8 year old kid trying so hard to hide his identity and wouldn't come out no matter what. You snooping around like a thief when a lot of people are watching you is truly a sight to behold," Amber said as she started laughing.

Jackson's face turned red, he still remembers that and as much as possible he no longer wanted to remember it.

"Enough with that will you? It was already 8 years. It was too long already," he complained.

"Oh no no no, you're wrong about that. No matter how long, that is something worth remaining in one's memory."

"Amber!!" he finally exclaimed.

He always calls her sister but when he just wanted her to stop teasing him, he'd end up calling her by her name.
