277 I Will Give You A Chance

Russel looked around and could see that its security was of top notch as well.

"This is a five star condominium and its security is truly among the top," seeing her look Amber started speaking as she prepared some coffee.

Russel just looked at her as she sat down on the sofa.

"I think we have something else to talk about other than the security of this place," Russel then said.

"But I think you do need this kind of place," Amber said as she placed a cup of coffee in front of Russel before sitting opposite her.

"Why should I?"

"You are after all trying your best to survive by staying in the lime light, by staying in the crowd in order to not allow them to get to you and take you while you were alone."

Russel's eyes grew wide, "Who are you? Could you be one of them?"

She stood up ready to leave.

"Oh please, if I am one of them then you wouldn't be sitting here leisurely. It was also your fault, didn't even try to fight your way out of my grip," Amber rolled her eyes as she took a sip from her cup.

Russel glared at her, "Don't you know your strength? I tried but I can't your grip was too strong."

"Then have a sit now, we can talk about this with a cup of coffee," Amber was nonchalant as if what Russel said was trivial.

Russel felt exasperated, she really couldn't get just what kind of person this is.

Defeated, she returned to her seat and sip from the cup Amber handed to her.

"You're too trusting, what if I placed a poison in there?" Amber suddenly spoke up causing Russel to choke up.

"Of course there's none, I was just showing you something."

Russel stared at her as she wipe her lips with her handkerchief.

"You were planning of teaching Ashley of the life lessons out there and how society works when you allowed her to follow you. But look at yourself now, you can't even keep yourself safe," Amber turned serious, but compared with how she treated Russel days ago.

The coldness was no longer there, just the seriousness.

Russel didn't speak, indeed she was careless this time and allowed herself to go with Amber's pace.

"You, who loves being in the crowd but couldn't trust most of the people and thinks highly of yourself, won't be able to properly teach others unless you teach yourself first," Amber added.

Russel remained silent, she really didn't know what got into her, for her to take Ashley when all along she didn't want to be with anyone.

"Adding to that, you did learn some basic self defense didn't you?" Amber once again asked no longer lingering on the other topic.

"What about it this time?" Russel asked.

"Have you not noticed then? Or was your training lacking?"

Russel furrowed her brows.

Russel's eyes grew wide, not a hint, not a single hint. She didn't feel anyone following her at all. She was always vigilant and at times she'd feel it but the past days she didn't, even a while ago.

"Seeing your look, you must not have. Oh well, they too were not being careful. They tried their best to hide from you but if one were to look closer, they would see how their actions were suspicious enough," Amber started explaining.

She put down her cup and looked at Russel seriously, "I can help you. But that doesn't mean I am doing it for free."

"You want to get it as well?" Russel asked but she was more vigilant.

"Don't be too vigilant towards me. I am unlike them who are asking it for free. I already told you I will help you."

"How can you help me? With Natan?" Russel didn't want to believe anyone who offers her help but knew about that thing.

"I didn't intend to rush this one as well, but seeing how many were tailing you a while ago and the way they tried to close in. I don't think we have that much time of playing get to know each other," Amber answered.

"So you had Simon Peterson took me in because you found out who I was," Russel finally had the answer of the questions she had in mind a few nights ago.

"Yes."

Though expecting it, she couldn't help but to still feel shock at how honest Amber was in answering.

"To the outside world, it was that woman who had it. But they all knew who really has it. And that is why they are after you, they wanted to take it but they didn't want the others to know about it. It shall remain inside," Amber continued.

"Just what are you? How did you know about all of these? It was well hidden and out of reach for people outside. How did you get all these information?" Russel asked.

"I already told you the first time we met, I am not a simple person. I just used that and got hold of every information I needed. Though I should thank my intuition for it also helped me have a feeling that you are not a simple person."

"I don't get it, what are you doing? Why would you want that?" Russel was still confused.

"Oh, you don't know what I need, I don't only want it but I need it. If helping you would allow me to get it then I would willingly help you get rid of your enemies," Amber answered.

Russel looked at her both with confusion and disbelief.

"You may have gotten ahold of a lot of data but that doesn't mean that you can go against them," Russel finally said.

"How many times must I tell you? That I am not a simple person?" she asked in return.

"I get it okay, you found me, you found everything about me. But they are big, what can Natan do? It is just a hatchling, it can't do so much," Russel felt exasperated she felt like Amber was just doing things on a whim.

Amber sighed, she can tell that this person will never believe that she does not only have Natan behind her.

"Then do you plan on just running away?"

"I am not, I am doing my best to grow and become even more famous. Maybe by then I would be able to really get away from them," Russel answered.

"You will never get away with that kind of thinking from those vultures," Amber answered.

Before Russel could speak more, she continued, "Let's do it this way then. We can continue as if this talk never happened, do our work like normal. Let us wait, wait until they make their own move."

Russel just furrowed her brows, "They are patient, it's been going on for about five years now."

"Yes five years but that doesn't mean they have no limits. We can wait then we will throw a bait. "

"A bait?"

"Yes a bait but that would be a talk for another day, for now let us act that this talk never happened, shall we?" Amber said with a wink.

Russel could only shake her head, this one is truly something else, how can she act as if this talk never happened? She just found out that her identity was very much known by a complete stranger. And that same stranger was telling her to forget she said anything?

And that stranger was drinking her coffee in a leisure manner as if the current problem at hand was not so big.

She then sighed tiredly.

"Come on, just relax. I don't know why fate brought us together but don't you think we are lucky? Simon was the only one who could take you as his apprentice at the same time he was someone under me."

"That's fate you know, we were meant to meet each other to help each other's problems. So stop sighing now, this is a wonderful encounter," Amber finished with a wide grin.

Russel does not know whether to laugh or cry at meeting this person who can change her attitude with a flick of her finger.

But she was the first person who lent her help.

Others who found out about her problem would advice her to just give it to them and live her life.

But that was not what her father said, he said, "If you can't use it make sure you get the best out of it."

That is why giving away just like that was not an option for her, she witnessed how hard her father worked for this and she has no plans on putting that to waste.

She looked up at Amber and a different resolve appeared in her eyes, "Fine then. I will give you a chance. If you could help me out then I would willingly help you as well."

Amber's smile deepened, "And I shall make sure to live up to your expectations of my help."
