276 Who Said We Are Just Eating?

"The lady who watched you for a whole day have disappeared, I thought she would keep going for the next few days. I see that it was only a one day thing," one chef told her seeing the way she kept looking back.

"I think I am grateful because of that since it is pretty tiring to be watched in such a way," she answered.

After what happened that night, they stayed inside the kitchen and separated when it was already close to dawn.

Actually just as the dawn was about to break, Russel's helper would arrive in her place to cook and clean up for her.

She was a chef but there are a lot of times she just gets tired of cooking for herself since it was no longer her job to do so.

And she felt safer when she sees someone with her.

After another day of laboring for them, she stepped out of the restaurant and decided to have a walk for now. The place was in a location where trees are still abundant and walking around allows you to breath some fresh air.

She decided not to leave the place yet after receiving those calls that night. She wanted to see if she was just paranoid that night or if it was really them.

"Your miss Russel Bareford, right?" two young ladies approached her and asked just as she reached the park near the restaurant.

She smiled at them, "Indeed I am, do you need something?"

"Can we have your signature? We are your fan, we are students aiming for a culinary school."

Russel was a bit shock, in the culinary world, there are only a few people who would ask them for their signatures.

She smiled and took their pen and paper to give them her signature.

"Thank you very much," they happily said and waved her goodbye.

"I never thought you could smile that way with your fans," a voice came beside her and if it was not afternoon and if it was night then she would have shrieked by the sudden appearance of this person beside her.

Amber looked at her with a wide smile, "Hi."

"You- Can't you be a normal person even just for a bit? First, you were like a stalker who watched one closely for a whole day. Then, you suddenly appeared from out of nowhere while I am interacting with people," Russel complained.

"Hey, hey I was trying to understand you that is why I was watching you and I was behind you the moment they appeared, I couldn't interrupt the fan and idol meeting can I now?" Amber replied.

"Come to think of it, I haven't seen you for two days now, where have you been?" Russel couldn't help but ask.

She heard from the others that this person never left the company or the restaurant since she first arrived.

"Oh by chance did you miss me?" Amber teased.

"Come on, I was just joking. Why walk away from me," Amber rushed to follow her.

Russel didn't bother answering back to her.

"Since we already met each other here, why don't you join me?"

Amber grabbed her hand and pulled her along.

"Hey, why should I go with you?" Russel complained but somehow she couldn't pull away from her grip.

'I have learned self defense but why can't I loosen her grip on me?' she thought.

"Come on, let's get you some disguise then follow me for some errands I had been doing for the past two days," Amber grinned widely as she looked back at Russel who was having her brows furrowed.

After wearing a wig and a cap, Amber pulled her into a four star restaurant along the road.

"What are we doing here?" Russel asked as they took a seat and a menu was given to them.

"Eating, what else are we going to do here?" Amber said with a roll of her eyes as if what Russel was asking was a stupid question.

Russel turned agape, she knew Amber understood the meaning behind her question so why is she being like this now?

She decided to remain silent and left her to order whatever she wanted.

When their orders arrived, Amber started eating and Russel could only follow.

After eating they paid and left, then went to the next restaurant and even here Russel decided to remain quiet.

On the fourth restaurant, Russel was already staring at Amber with a shock look.

She was already full but Amber was still eating and still ordering.

Just as they were about to enter the fifth restaurant, she already grabbed Amber by the shoulder, stopping her from entering.

"Just what is wrong with your stomach? Is it a black hole for you to be able to eat as much as that? And you still plan to eat? Are you that hungry?"

Amber looked at her, "Who said we are just eating?"

Russel finally turned agape upon hearing her response. It was three hours ago when she said that they are eating in a restaurant. What else are they supposed to do there.

But now she is saying the they are not just eating?

"I'm out of here," she raised her hand and turned to leave.

"Wait, we are not just eating. We are trying their dishes that we also have in our restaurant. Have you not noticed?" Amber asked.

Russel stopped on her tracks and thought back, indeed everything she ordered were dishes that they also have in their menu.

"Have you also not noticed that I would ask them what was the best seller and the response of their customers to those dishes that I ordered?" Amber continued asking.

Russel nodded in an absentminded manner.

"See, we are indeed just eating but that doesn't mean we are also not doing other things. I am trying to see how much of response customers have in those particular dishes. Have you also not noticed that all the restaurants we went to were already up for so long?"

Russel was left with nothing to say.

Amber breathed out, "I will be sending you some forms where you can fill out what you tasted on their dishes. If it has any difference with our dish."

"Wait. Why me?" Russel was stunned before asking.

"As what you have said on that day when you came in, you are among the top that only a few could have you as their apprentice. That means you are indeed very good, so why not you?" Amber asked in return.

Russel stared at her as if she was an alien.

"Why are you looking at me that way?" Amber asked.

"Have you forgotten what happened almost a week ago?" Russel asked.

"What about it?"

"Well, didn't we have a bit of an argument and YOU threatened me," Russel said matter of fact.

"Correction I threatened you and Ashley, not just you. So what of it? Just because of that you are not going to help the restaurant you are currently working for?"

"I really don't get you," Russel said in an exasperated manner.

"Look, since you are already with us, why should I create trouble for both of us when we can work together instead?" Amber then said.

Russel sighed, "You know what I really don't get? It is the fact that I know Simon wouldn't have taken me in if you didn't give your permission. So why? Why did you allow him to take me?"

Amber stared at her.

"By any chance. By just a little bit of chance, do you know who I am? Not the one of today but the me in the past?" Russel kept asking.

Amber took a deep breath before glancing to the side, "Why don't we have a talk in my place?"

Russel furrowed her brows, "Your place?"

"I think we do need to have this talk in my place," Amber said grabbing her by the hand and pulling her to her car.

She pushed her inside and went around to the driver side.

"Wha- Seriously what is your problem?" Russel was stupefied by this.

"Just trust me this once and let's go to my place," Amber still said in a vague manner.

And since she already started the car and left, Russel could only dejectedly put on her seatbelt and leave it to Amber to drive back to where she stays.

"Sir, she rode a car with the lady with a mask and left. Are we to follow them?" a man stepped out of a wall and watched the car move away.

"No, let her be. There are still a lot of days ahead. We will get ahold of that," was the reply on the other side of the phone.
