281 I Am Part Of The Board

She reached out and flip through the whole stash, it was actually a whole ream of bond paper, for every chef.

And by estimate there are about twenty of them present.

The others could only look at one another. From time to time they would see Amber in their branch. But after she arrived this was the very first meeting they will have together. And it was timed after all branches were already closed.

Amber who stood at the podium of the meeting room looked at each of them.

"I think with a glance all of you understands what they are. Yes I had been to other restaurants trying their dishes and I must say most of them are innovative and creative. And since the five branches of Natan are but hatchlings, I wanted to use them as inspiration."

"Are you telling us to copy them?" one asked like she was a fool for suggesting it.

Amber stared at him before shaking her head, then she looked at the others as if he was the stupid one. Then without answering to him she proceeded with what she was saying.

"With what was written there of what we think were the ingredients, we can do some tinkering with our own dishes allowing us to push it to the next level. I am not saying that we will just go and serve it the moment we created it, unless someone thinks I am saying that."

Simon and Russel pursed their lips trying their best not to laugh, this chefs were new but they think that because Amber didn't come from a culinary background, they could already act high and mighty towards her.

But Amber has the best come back, it was of her not responding to any of their stupid questions.

The chef named, Oscar, was about to retort when Amber raised her hand. And she exuded an aura of authority.

"You are the chef, I am part of the board, I think you do understand what that means. Stop acting high in front of me when I can kick you out of this place and of culinary world if I wanted to. I really am not fond of using my power as much as possible."

"But even I have my own limitations. Just how many times do you think I have been disregarded just because I wasn't there at the beginning? And you want to add to those list?"

She had been holding back all this time, not because she was soft, not because she needed all the people but because she just didn't care. As long as they are doing their jobs just fine, then she wouldn't care of how many times they treat her like nothing.

But then if small ones add up slowly but surely it would eventually become a big one. And right now, for her fourth company, everything have already add up.

"If you have nothing else to say then shall we continue?"

She looked back to all that are present, "Our company does not have a signature dish yet. That is why we must strive to better what we already have. I understand that you all have your own thoughts regarding this matter."

"But no, we are not going to copy them. I want you to read those files and understand how they created the dish. I am not also telling you that you should do it on the same dish but instead I want you to think outside of the box."

"This dish can be better with this ingredient. Then what if this ingredient goes with this dish? Will it be better? Will it worsen? Be creative everyone, we have grown but that is because Simon Peterson has a name."

"Yes, most of the companies started with a name that was already famous in the public. Then what if that name was to be gone or were forgotten? What would happen to the restaurant? We can't have Natan as the restaurant started by Simon Peterson."

"We can't have Natan as the restaurant where Jackson Philipps started his career."

"We can't have Natan as the restaurant where Russel Bareford stayed for a while."

"We must have Natan as the Natan restaurant. Nothing more nothing less. I want all the servers to be as polite as possible but that doesn't mean they would allow the customers to look down on them. Instead I just want for all of them to become a server that Natan restaurant could be proud of."

"I want the chefs to keep doing their best to cook not only because that would help Natan to grow but also because I want you all to make a name for yourselves. Natan is the Natan restaurant but you are you."

"Oscar Silver must be the chef Oscar Silver that was written in the history of Natan, not just the chef from Natan. All of you must make a name for yourselves from here, you are not to be chained down by the contracts you have with us."

"But instead if you created a signature dish that would appear for the first time in Natan, then that would be publish as yours and your name shall be the one attached to it not the restaurant's name. Just as this would help you then I just want you to help by inviting more customers with your cooking."

Everyone remained silent, not just the chefs or the managers but even Simon and Russel.

They didn't expect that she was thinking of the future not just of Natan but even of the people currently working in it.

She was not only doing things for the restaurant but for her people as well.

She ate all those dishes in order to help her chefs into creating something else.

"At the same time, there are marked papers in the stack that are in front of you. Be sure to review those properly and be creative on your own. If nothing else were to be said then the meeting is over."

After that she turned and left, not letting anyone speak to her. Like a queen who came to give her people the push they needed to move forward.

Silence enveloped before one by one, they checked the papers in front of them.

Then they glanced at those beside them.

That's when they realized something, all the marked dishes that they must review compared to the others were quite connected to what dish they are best at.

When Simon realized this, he checked their stacks one by one, even Russel did the same and each of them were differently marked. Some may have similarities but they are of different chains.

Russel then remembered, every time Amber watches her. She was actually not only watching her. There are times when she turns around that she would see Amber looking at a different person.

"She had been in the kitchen for a whole day or half or when she was not out there eating on different restaurants," she started looking at Simon.

Simon nodded, he understood. He was a chef so by tasting and looking he could help the others to improve their works. Jackson and Russel were the same. But Amber was different.

She can cook but that's just it, she was also not a graduate of culinary nor did she study one.

On her own way, she tried her best to come up with a way to help the people of the restaurant at the same time help the restaurant itself to prosper.

Simon went to the podium, "Indeed she was new here and she was not among us in the culinary world. She was more of the business world but you are a witness right now."

He pointed at the stacks of papers, "She was not a simple business woman. Anyone who tries to belittle her from now on are to be kicked out of the restaurant. I will no longer tolerate any kind of back talks around here. No matter how good you are with your hands."

Everyone looked at each other and somehow had a silent agreement, 'That person was a monster on her own. Better be safe than sorry.'

For just with this they could say how serious she was in whatever it is that she was doing or whatever it is she wants to achieve.

Some of them actually have some bias towards her for they think that she must all be profit and nothing more. But this one move showed that she do cares the culinary world itself.
