Yu Yingyi, Mei Xiang, and Qing Shan followed Nian Zhen into the restaurant. Once they entered the restaurant, they started looking around to see if there was anything special to it. But to no surprise, there wasn't anything eye-catching.
"I would've thought there would be at least something valuable in here that would make the intruder come to this place, but it seems they were only here for the rumor," Qing Shan muttered.
"Indeed, this restaurant is plain, the atmosphere feels a bit dead too. Yet, there still seems to be people coming here, perhaps the food is good," Mei Xiang added.
"Respect the restaurant at least a little, we're guests here today, we shouldn't slander this place because it's plain," Yu Yingyi scolded.
"Yes, your majesty. Your wish is my command," Qing Shan teased.
"Don't say it again."
As Nian Zhen spoke with her co-workers, Yu Yingyi could see glances coming their way and they were slowly becoming the center of attention. The quiet murmurs turned into loud chattering and the dead atmosphere was lifted.
"Princess, it seems with you here, the once plain and dead restaurant became lively again," Qing Shan said.
"Tsk, you act like I'm the one who's the most eye-catching. Look at what you're wearing Qing Shan, you're the one who stands out the most," Yu Yingyi said.
"I agree, the white hair, the clothing that matches your hair, and the sword at your hip make you the one who's drawing all the attention," Mei Xiang added.
Yu Yingyi nodded. "Exactly, the rest of us are wearing casual clothing while you're still in the clothing you wore the other day."
"I can't help it! This is my uniform and wearing this is mandatory."
Yu Yingyi shrugged. "Just endure it."
"Let's go in now!" Nian Zhen called out to them. The three focused their attention back on Nian Zhen and followed her through the restaurant.
As they were walking through the hallway that had multiple rooms on each side, Mei Xiang grew curious and decided to ask a question.
"If you don't mind me asking, why do people still come here when the restaurant is plain and the atmosphere is dead?"
"Although the restaurant isn't as lively," Nian Zhen continued. "The food here is delicious and they're all authentic. Moreover, we have beauties here."
The lady who was leading them suddenly coughed, it seems she was embarrassed at what Nian Zhen said. Yu Yingyi sighed, Nian Zhen doesn't even know that she complimented someone.
After turning another corridor, Nian Zhen suddenly stopped and then entered a room. Yu Yingyi followed behind Qing Shan as they entered and the lady seemed to be holding the door for them.
"Thank you," Yu Yingyi thanked.
A smile could be seen on the lady's face. "No, I should be the one thanking you."
"Hmm?"
"Without you, I don't think I would've been able to out to my parents about my girlfriend who's now going to be my wife," the lady explained.
Yu Yingyi smiled. "May your love and happiness last forever."
With that said, the door closed behind them and there was another lady looking through documents.
"It seems you're already here Nian Zhen, I've already prepared everything about what you wish to know. They're all in the documents," the lady said.
"Thank you," Nian Zhen replied.
"No problem, just remember to lock the door before you read it. I don't want the information about the rumor spreading," the lady said before exiting the room. Nian Zhen followed behind to lock the door.
"That...that was easier than I thought," Mei Xiang said.
"En, I spoke to her earlier so we wouldn't have to go through a troubling process," Nian Zhen said.
"Then what the point of making a plan in the first place? Couldn't you have said that at the start?" Mei Xiang asked.
"You were too resolute with the plan so I decided to not tell you. There's no point in arguing over something trivial, let's focus back onto the document," Nian Zhen said as pieces of paper spilled out.
"Come on, read it out for us," Mei Xiang urged.
"Calm down, be patient," Yu Yingyi said.
"Alright, I'll read it out loud," Nian Zhen said before continuing. "In the basement of the restaurant, there were once jades that were made with raw materials. These handmade jades were said to have priceless value, just having one of these would bring their social status to almost the highest. To this day, it was said that those ancient jades were buried in the basement which was under the restaurant."
"Is that it?" Mei Xiang asked.
"Yes," Nian Zhen replied.
"It wasn't interesting at all, I thought it was going to be something cooler," Yu Yingyi said.
""Agreed.""
"Now, should we head into the basement now? There isn't anything else we need to know right?" Yu Yingyi asked.
"En, that was it. Let's go into the basement, but be careful, the stairways are a bit slippery due to the water leaking from above."
****
As they were walking down the basement, Yu Yingyi suddenly slipped on a small puddle of water that formed on the staircase. Before she fell, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist.
"Be careful, I don't want the princess getting hurt," Qing Shan said.
"Thank you," Yu Yingyi replied, that was when she felt something soft on her back. "Are you perhaps hugging me to your chest?"
"Ah," Qing Shan released her. "I did it unconsciously, I was worried if I didn't pull you back enough, you would keep falling."
Yu Yingyi shook her head. "It's fine."
She was more surprised about Qing Shan's bosom that was hidden under her clothing. Complicated thoughts started entering Yu Yingyi's mind. How did her bosom fit? Was the clothing tight and stretchable enough? She stopped thinking about it before she got a headache.
Once they reached the ground, the lights flicked open above them as everything came into view. There were refrigerators lined up against the walls. Yu Yingyi guessed they were there to preserve things.
"There isn't anything here, are you sure it's in the basement?" Mei Xiang asked.
"I don't-" Yu Yingyi stopped talking when her eyes caught something shiny. Although it was her first time seeing it, she knew what it was.
"What is it?"
"Come look at this."
