Yu Yingyi staggered as she leaned her arm onto the walls of the palace, it was already past afternoon when they finished hanging out. She could never understand how people had so much energy.
Entering Song Feng Mian's room, her vision was filled with three figures, their eyes said that they were expecting her.
"What took so long?" asked Song Liya.
"Unexpectedly, that girl is cunning. She was asking me to repay the favor since I was also asking her for favors," said Yu Yingyi releasing a tired sigh.
"Not everything in life is free," said Song Feng Mian. "So? How did everything go?"
"I was able to get her to agree, though she might ask someone to help her pass them out since there's a lot," said Yu Yingyi.
"Do you have any idea who she's asking?' asked Song Feng Mian..
"Nope, I was the one who suggested it anyway. It isn't like she's untrustworthy." Yu Yingyi replied.
Song Liya narrowed her eyes at Yu Yingyi feeling a bit suspicious. "How is she trustworthy then?"
Yu Yingyi was about to answer when the words were suddenly caught in her throat. She tried thinking of reasons why Mei Xiang was trustworthy, but she couldn't come up with anything. Saying Mei Xiang liked her wasn't enough.
"I don't know, I never thought about that," said Yu Yingyi.
Song Liya let out a sigh. "You shouldn't trust people so easily, there's a chance they're hiding something you don't know, or possibly things even royalty don't know."
"I know, but she isn't a bad person. She's helped me a lot." Yu Yingyi protested.
Song Liya rubbed her temples, there was no point arguing about this. Yu Yingyi could trust anyone she wanted, if they dared betray her, they weren't going to see the next sunrise.
"Whatever, there are more things that we have to talk about," said Song Liya as she nodded towards Jia Yi. "Tell her."
"Okay. While you were gone, we finished everything you told us to do. All that's left is the event and discussing with Jia Xin Yi." said Jia Yi.
"I see, that's good. We basically have almost everything finished right?" asked Yu Yingyi.
"Yes, but before we continue any further. Are you planning on using the plaza near our palace or the plaza in the city?" asked Song Feng Mian.
There were two plazas, one was near the palace, one was in the city. Although there wasn't much of a difference between the two, one of them was more pleasing to the eye and attracted a lot of citizens.
"That's why we're going with the plaza near the palace. Although the plaza in the city seems like a nice idea, there isn't enough space," said Yu Yingyi.
"I thought so," said Song Feng Mian.
"Hmm? Why did you ask? Did you make a mistake on where the event is being held on the jade?" asked Yu Yingyi.
"Nope, I thought it would be dumb if you held it at the plaza in the city. Thankfully, it wasn't being held there," said Song Feng Mian.
"Alright, is there anything else?" asked Yu Yingyi.
"Yes. How are you going to attend the event and talk to Jia Xin Yi at the same time?" asked Jia Yi.
"That's why Feng Mian is here. Since the plaza is close to the palace, Feng Mian can turn into me and we can switch places so I can talk with Jia Xin Yi."
"So you're going to talk with them while the event is happening? I thought you were going to convince them to let this happen."
"I was originally going to do that, but I figured them letting this event take place would be meaningless. So what if I tried talking with Jia Xin Yi to convince her to tell the empress to attend too? Imagine two empresses attending the event that would eventually pave the path to the legalization of same-sex marriage?"
Jia Yi's eyes went wide when she processed what Yu Yingyi said. If two empresses attended the event, that would mean it would become one of the most important events. The empresses weren't just normal empresses either, it was the empress of the famous Jia Empire and the Song Empire.
"I have to say, you've certainly gotten smarter when you started coming here," said Song Feng Mian.
"That's cause all your books were well written, the information was very detailed but it was never hard to understand," said Yu Yingyi.
"Don't forget about me, I'm the one who taught you everything you know now." Song Liya added.
Yu Yingyi playfully rolled her eyes at Liya. "Sure, sure. Maybe I should start calling you my teacher from now on."
"That actually sounds kind of interesting, I could teach you a lot of new things." Song Liya teased.
Both Yu Yingyi and Song Feng Mian deadpanned Song Liya, there she was again with the perverted lines. They were just talking about something serious.
Yu Yingyi sighed, at least Song Liya said it after they were finished talking. Then, the figures she saw in the carriage earlier crossed her mind, she still had no idea who they were.
"By any chance, do you know anyone that's coming into the city by carriage?" asked Yu Yingyi.
"By carriage? No, I don't think so. There's nothing planned any time soon except for the event you're going to hold." said Song Feng Mian.
"Did you happen to see a carriage coming to the city?" asked Song Liya.
"Yep, I saw the carriage past by when I was eating. I thought you would know something about it," said Yu Yingyi.
"Did the figures you saw look like they were part of royalty?" asked Song Feng Mian.
"They did, but at the same time, they didn't. Although they were dressed in normal clothes, I felt like they had an elegant and noble atmosphere around them," said Yu Yingyi
Song Liya and Song Feng Mian exchanged confused looks. If someone part of royalty were coming to the city by carriage, they would've known.
"Are you they weren't just passerby's? Carriages sometimes pass by the city to drop off goods for merchants to trade or sell," said Song Feng Mian.
"I'm sure they weren't carriages that sometimes pass by. Moreover, their carriage was decorated traditionally, a design I haven't seen anywhere around the city," said Yu Yingyi.
"That's interesting, I wasn't told about carriages coming to the city," said Song Feng Mian.
"Same, I doubt our mother knows anything about that since we don't know anything about it. There's no way she could hide something like that from us," said Song Liya.
Yu Yingyi watched the two sisters talk, they were the smartest in the room currently so it was hard for her to join their discussion.
"Jia Yi, do you have any idea who they might be?" Yu Yingyi asked.
"Nope, I don't have any idea who they are. However, there's a possibility my mother might know," said Jia Yi.
"Hmm? Your mother might know?" Yu Yingyi asked curiously.
"Yep, my mother has guards all over the city, she can easily get any type of information she wants. Did you forget she was a former assassin?" asked Jia Yi.
"Right, but there's no telling if she would even tell us anything about it, and my curiosity is killing me," said Yu Yingyi.
"I think personally think you should stray away from the idea of trying to find out who the people in the carriages were and focus on what you're supposed to be doing right now," said Jia Yi.
Yu Yingyi stopped for a moment to listen to what Jia Yi said.
"That might be the best thing you've ever said to me, Jia Yi," said Yu Yingyi.
"What're you trying to say?"
"Nothing, I guess I've just been so caught up with everything I couldn't focus on what was happening around me anymore," said Yu Yingyi.
"Yingyi, you shouldn't tire yourself out. It'll be bad if you suddenly get sick when there's an important event coming," said Jia Yi.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine," said Yu Yingyi as she snapped her fingers to get the two sister's attention. "Let's focus on what we're doing right now. We can find out who they are when we need to."
"Alright, we weren't getting anywhere anyway. There was nothing that would give us clues on who they were," said Song Feng Mian.
"I'm not surprised," said Yu Yingyi. "Liya, can you get someone to deliver the jades down to Antique Architecture? Mei Xiang is waiting for the jades to be sent over.
"Consider it done, it'll arrive there by tonight," said Song Liya.
Even after being with each other for so long, Yu Yingyi still couldn't figure out how Song Liya got things done so quickly. Maybe she was just a genius at everything she did, it was possible.
"Well, let's all get some rest, we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow," said Yu Yingyi.
"Huh? We're starting tomorrow?" asked Jia Yi.
"You didn't know?"
"Of course I didn't, I thought it was going to be a few days later."
"Well, you better get ready cause everyone except for you is prepared.
"Ugh."
Yu Yingyi hoped that everything would go the way she wanted it to.
'Well, we'll see how it goes tomorrow.'
