Left to face the music by himself he followed Rui Fei to Ji Yao's cabin for his punishment. When they got there instead of Rui Fei walking in as usual he simply shoved his uncle forward and said, "Knock," in a serious tone.
But Huishe Yue wasn't falling for that trick. If Rui Fei was afraid to even knock the door that he usually pushed open with no care in the world then what about him an insignificant ant in Ji Yao's eyes.
Unwilling to face Ji Yao's wrath head-on he moved a step backwards and shook his head. As expected Rui Fei wouldn't let him go that easy. He said, "Why are you being such a wuss? You were brazen a minute ago beating up his distant uncle.... now knock," in a loud whisper.
"Do I look like I an fuckin stupid to you? Do you think I don't know you upset him beforehand? You usually enter without even knocking yet today you decide to be polite? I am not an idiot....," replied Huishe Yue whispering but he didn't get to finish his refusal as a loud bang sound struck the door from the inside startling the two.
After the initial shock wore off Huishe Yue grinned like a fool saying, "My in-law has a scary temper. He is the perfect candidate to keep you in line," he leaned in closer and whispered, "translation you are fucked."
Rui Fei, "..."
Huishe Yue didn't hesitate to knock afterwards. It was because he knew the person Ji Yao was truly upset with was Rui Fei not himself. This was really great.
When they entered Ji Yao was sitting down pouring out some hot tea into three cups his expression stern. The entire room was filled with a sweet soothing fragrance like he had extracted the entire greenhouse of flowers and sprayed it all over his room.
The scent was indeed strong but not to Huishe Yue. He thought it was coming from the steaming cup of tea on the table but Rui Fei knew exactly what it was. He had tasted it earlier while making out with Ji Yao.
It entered his nose and penetrated deep into his arterial veins and aether calming down the agitation in his heart. His aether was instantly pacified turning him into a harmless marshmallow.
Ji Yao had just come from taking a bath where he took care of some business which meant his scent was especially intoxicating to a certain someone. His fair skin was flushed pink from the hot bath and his eyes were as sparkly and dewy as the grass in the morning.
Rui Fei's heartfelt itchy wanting to touch his sweetheart but he couldn't. Judging from the way he was thrown out earlier, Ji Yao might ban him from his cabin forever if he so much as touches him a little. Rui Fei picked up the shoe Ji Yao threw at the door earlier before walking behind Huishe Yue as a precaution.
Just in case Ji Yao hadn't yet calmed down from what happened earlier it was safer to use Huishe Yue as a meat shield. Huishe Yue who had no idea he was being used as a meat shield by his nephew walked forward trying to come up with words for an apology.
This kid took both him and his nephew in despite having no obligation to do so and how did they repay him? By causing trouble on his ship and one of them even going as far as wanting to make him his wife. Talk about being ungrateful.
After coming up with the most suitable apology he opened his mouth to speak but Ji Yao suddenly spoke. His voice was so calm and enchanting you would think he was a merman trying to lure his victims under the sea. "Please take a seat..... I need your opinion on something."
He wasn't at all upset perplexing this old uncle who turned to look at his nephew but when he turned to his left and his right Rui Fei was nowhere to be seen. It was only after looking behind him did he see the fool standing there with a nervous smile. 'Not at all like his mother,' he thought before sitting opposite Ji Yao.
With his long slender fingers, Ji Yao placed two steaming cups of tea on the opposite side of the table before saying, "You don't know the seas as much as I do but you know Niuq and things that come from it better than anyone in this fleet. He raised his alluring eyes and stared at him before asking, "I need your incite on this keystone."
The right person to ask would have been Qilin Kai but that wasn't going to happen. The creatures that dressed in his father and mother's skin must have been shapeshifters. The keystone in their possession had the ability to create an illusion that could lure prey in based on their deepest desires.
His father had mentioned a place where ships disappeared, a place sailors called Siwang zhi di or the place of death. It was an infamous place where a lot of shipwrecks were discovered but the cause of such devastation was unknown. After the incident fifty years ago there were rumours of legendary treasure in this place but after so many disappearances no one went there anymore. Now Ji Yao had found out from being inside the keystone that this place was the next location for the other and he suddenly had a headache.
Huishe Yue was glad to help. He would do anything to distract this young master from the damage in the brig. "Ahem... hem, tell me what you saw in the um... in the illusion," he said trying to steer the direction of the conversation as far away as possible from his crime.
Ji Yao, "....."
Rui Fei, "....."
What were they supposed to say? They almost got married and Ji Yao almost beat him to death. "That's, that's not necessary," said Rui Fei trying to get his uncle to stop talking.. Ji Yao averted his eyes as he sipped on his tea. Rui Fei might not be close to Huishe Yue but mentioning marriage to his uncle was a little embarrassing wasn't it?
