Earlier in the evening, Xiaoyu had heard that there was a heated argument in the captain's cabin with Ji Yao at the centre of the storm. She heard that the place they were about to go was dangerous and that everyone didn't want to go which was understandable.
Thinking she could go and cheer him up and let him know she would go with him even when no one else would she walked over to his cabin. But who would have thought the second she reached the stairs of the stern deck she would witness an unbelievable scene.
Ji Yao the germaphobe, mysophobe and stern person kissed Rui Fei's cheek with an expression so tender you wouldn't believe it was the same person who walked around acting like someone owed him millions. Her entire body froze on the spot unable to make a single sound. Her soft heart was suddenly surrounded by a deadly chill with frost spreading like an infectious vine.
She had the biggest advantage of the two of them as she had spent a considerable number of years with him. Ji Wen liked her very much and treated her like a soon-to-be daughter-in-law. The crew respected her and even called her madam. The Concord members were already anticipating receiving red bombs (slang for wedding invitations).
Under her bed, she had an all inclusive wedding plan with everything from the decorations to the shoes she was going to wear. This secret book clearly expressed her intentions towards Ji Yao. The only thing left was to win his heart.
But all those dreams and hopes she spent years complying within her book were now under threat. Everything was hanging at the edge of the cliff because of this vixen who sprung up from nowhere. Why couldn't he just stay in his own lane like regular people? Why did he have to go on and rob her first love from her?
As more and more of these meaningless questions flew about inside her head the storm brewing within her was upgrading to critical levels. Her chest felt stifled like she had a heavy object weighing down her heart.
With her jaw clenched tightly she met Rui Fei's gaze glaring daggers at him. Rui Fei was stunned for a moment as he wasn't expecting to see anyone. That beautiful smile from before was wiped off his face replaced by the look of a bull ready to attack.
His insecurities stemming from Xiaoyu's presence around Ji Yao had gradually cooled down over time after seeing the way Ji Yao responded to her. There was no doubt in his mind that she didn't stand a chance with him. The only problem was that this little miss couldn't see it. She blindly believed she had a shot trying some simple tricks to grasp his Yao-ge's attention.
He didn't do anything about it because she hadn't done anything excessive. Besides she knew nothing about his intentions towards Ji Yao as everyone who knew purposefully refrained from telling her this. But now that the cat was out of the bag it was about time he marked his territory lest she decides to act willful.
Rui Fei took a step forward but his stomach suddenly churned twisting in pain. "Fuck," he whispered looking away. Imagine you are trying to maintain a domineering attitude but you suddenly get an awful tummy ache coupled with a nauseous feeling. Wouldn't that domineering appearance be hard to maintain?
Xiaoyu who had misunderstood his reaction thought he was ashamed of himself. She grasped on to this weakness and ran with it. With a look of revulsion on her face, she snorted coldly before saying, "Aren't you ashamed of yourself? After all Ji Wen did for you, you dare seduce his son in his absence and for what? What can you give him?" in an almost drawling voice.
Rui Fei who hadn't expected the conversation to go in that direction soon forgot his tummy ache as he walked towards Xiaoyu in unhurried steady footsteps surrounded by a sinister aura. With a horrendous smile like that of a devil, he approached her. Xiaoyu initially stood her ground as she strongly believed Rui Fei wouldn't dare do anything to her on this deck right outside Ji Yao's door but the closer he got the more terrified she was.
She unconsciously began to take steps backwards her face turning ashen with each step he took. She clenched her fists till her knuckles turned white trying to prevent herself from letting her fear take over.
The pain from her nails digging into her skin helped her maintain a calm facade with the only thing showing her true emotions being her pale complexion.
Ji Yao kept walking forward stopping only when she had nowhere else to go. He had actually led her further away from the captain's cabin door without her knowledge. She only realised this when half her body was leaning against the railing of the ship. Her blood ran cold when she realised what he was doing.
Rui Fei could silence her right here and toss her into the sea. With his kind of strength, she wouldn't have time to scream before she vanish into the sea. Rui Fei noticed the ripple of emotion in her eyes and his smile grew wider.
"I can most settling give him more than you ever will.....," he said before a resounding slap echoed across the deck. Pa!
That slap was so powerful it could make anyone who heard it shudder. She was very generous with her seraphic energy making it the most painful slap Rui Fei had ever experienced. She gazed at him as though looking at a piece of trash. Her eyes were inky expressing the heavy emotion she was feeling inside.
With his tongue, Rui Fei licked the wound inside his mouth after accidentally biting himself when he was slapped. With his head tilted to the side, a drop of blood seeped at the corner of his lips.. With his fingers, he wiped the corner of his lips his deadly gaze fixed on Xiaoyu at the corner of his eye.
