With his stray strands partially covering the distinct palm print on his cheek and blood seeping at the corner of his lips, he looked like an ethereal beauty born to destroy mankind at the snap of his finger. His Adam's apple moved slightly as he let out a throaty chuckle that made Xiaoyu shudder in fright.
Indeed she had a very good reason to be afraid because in the next second Rui Fei grabbed hold of her neck and pushed her body slightly overboard. That smiley young man that walked around deck following Ji Yao like a tail was gone. He was replaced by a vile demon who took pride in tormenting his victims.
At that moment, she saw her life flash before her eyes as she grabbed his hand that was strangling her. A powerful breeze from the sea swept past her body giving her the illusion of weightlessness like she was about to fall.
She glared daringly at him with her red-rimmed eyes with the veins on her temples throbbing under her skin. "I-if you, you ki-kill me he wi-will never... forgive... you," she said with great difficulty as the corners of her lips quirked up.
She suddenly felt like dying wasn't such a bad thing after all. If their relationship gets ruined by her death then wouldn't it all be worth it. She should have died in that vile prince's mansion but had been granted amnesty and now she was going to die in his son's hands. At least this would show Ji Yao's his true nature.
"Go ah-ahead..... show hi-him..... how you are just, just like your father," she said taunting him with obvious intentions.
As expected Rui Fei got even angrier. As an evil seed grasped his heart he tightened the grip on her neck till she couldn't speak anymore and said, "Let's get something straight so we don't misunderstand each other... That man in there belongs to me and I won't let anyone take him away from me... Just remember I don't have to kill you with my own hands to get rid of you."
He then tossed her harshly to the side and she came crashing down to the ground. Rui Fei stood tall fixing his robe at his wrists as he nonchalantly said, "I don't hit girls not unless they threaten to take what is mine." Fixing the lapel of his robe he said, "Just remember that."
Xiaoyu who lay on the floor half rose from the ground and coughed as she held her sore neck. "*Cough *cough..... once he *cough knows what you are..... *cough he will never like you," she said in a brittle voice. Rui Fei scoffed as he crouched on the ground with his elbows lazily resting on his thigh. "Then you obviously don't know Ji Yao," he said before unfeelingly patting her head insulting her.
Xiaoyu angrily dodged but Rui Fei didn't get angry. With an amused expression, he stood up and calmly took a step back. Just then his tummy that had been suppressed by the rush of adrenaline painfully jerked reminding him of his crime earlier.
With a twisted expression, he picked up the pillow and tray he had tossed away in anger before walking back to Ji Yao's door. Putting on a pitiful expression he knocked on the door ignoring Xiaoyu's intimidating glare brimming with defiance. With his forehead resting on the door he knocked softly. Five minutes later a freshly bathed Ji Yao dressed in a thin loosely tied robe opened the door.
He was having a quick bath when the door was suddenly knocked. He had a sneaking suspicion that it was Rui Fei and he was even had a little excitement to see him. But what he didn't expect was the boy to be standing there seeming pitiful with Xiaoyu's distinct fragrance on his body.
Ji Yao was initially planning to stick to his decision and send Rui Fei back but now.....
He stared at him for a while before walking back in. He felt a sudden twinge in his heart as he walked into the room. He wasn't at all happy about Xiaoyu's fragrance being on Rui Fei's body no matter how innocent the explanation was.
Noticing his anomaly Rui Fei followed him inside.
As though having figured out why Ji Yao wore that expression he tried to explain himself. With a bang, he closed the door and Xiaoyu who lay on the ground lowered her head as uncontrollable tears came flowing out of her eyes.
Clutching her chest she cried like she had lost something. It hurt so much that she couldn't contain herself. Why Rui Fei of all people? Granted he was good looking but she was also good looking and wasn't lacking in any way. But Ji Yao chose that stupid kid over her. How could she remain calm after that?
While Xiaoyu was trying to get herself together Ji Yao was bustling about looking for something in his storage ring ignoring Rui Fei's ranting. Actually, he was listening though it didn't seem like it.
"Yao-ge, I had a stomach ache and then I met her outside. She, she saw us and we argued... look, she slapped me," said Rui Fei as he suddenly placed his hands over Ji Yao's stopping him from whatever he was doing.
Ji Yao finally raised his head and looked at him for a while. Of course, he knew there had to be an innocent explanation but he couldn't stand someone's scent being on Rui Fei. The slap mark on Rui Fei's face made his heartache. He wanted to have a serious discussion with Xiaoyu tomorrow and ask her what gave her the right to lay a hand on his person. For now, he could only express his displeasure towards Rui Fei.
His annoyance was evident in his tongue as he said, "I leave you alone for two minutes and you already smell like someone else," while shaking him off. The sourness in his voice was obvious causing Rui Fei's heart to jolt up in both excitement and guilt.
Rui Fei was about to move closer to him when familiar bottles of elixir and pills were placed on the table. "If you want to stay here then go and take a bath," he said before walking over to the cupboard behind the folding screen to grab a clean set of clothes for him. He tossed them at Rui Fei before closing the doors of the cupboard.
Having heard what Ji Yao said Rui Fei went to the other room in hurried footsteps to take a quick bath. He had to quickly wash away this scent and hurry back before Ji Yao changed his mind.. Such a good thing had come from a terrible experience so how could he not take advantage.
