Chapter 312 - An Inexplicable Plan For Betrayal

He knew they would eventually notice something was different about him but he also didn't want them to treat him differently. Though judging from their reactions it was inevitable.

Seeing this Rui Yewan suddenly took a step forward and placed his hand on his shoulders reassuringly, "We know.... You are not the same as that monster." He could understand what Rui Fei was feeling right now. Imagine finding out that you had the predisposition to become as wicked as the person you hate the most.

A better way to explain this would be a child of a serial killer finding out they are predestined to follow in their parent's footsteps. The stress and anxiety that comes from that are hard to imagine especially when society already stigmatizes them for being the spawn of such a demon.

Rui Fei probably didn't want Ji Yao to find out which is why he lied to him. Rui Li smiled at her brother and said, "Don't worry brother, your secret is safe with us. Now cheer up."

But as she said this they heard someone from behind them ask, "What secret?" The voice was unmistakably Huishe Yue's but as to when he got here, no one knows.

"Aaaahhhhhh," the two siblings screamed as they jolted in fright.

"You.... are you a fucking ghost?" asked Rui Li patting her chest. These two could never sense his presence but Rui Fei was a different case. He should have been able to sense Huishe Yue coming unless his uncle deliberately concealed his seraphic energy. If he could do it then Huishe Yue could also do it.

"How much did you hear?" asked Rui Fei as a glint of maliciousness flashed in his eyes.

Huishe Yue didn't shy away, in fact, he stepped forward and said, "Everything." The two of them looked at each other for a while without speaking. Rui Li and Rui Yewan felt like they shouldn't be here so they silently slipped away rushing over to be by their saozi's side just in case a fight broke out. At least their in law would protect them.

Huishe Yue's expression suddenly relaxed with a genuine smile on his face. He draped his arm around Rui Fei's shoulders and asked, "Why are you so serious? Am I the type who would backstab my family?"

Rui Fei didn't say anything allowing Huishe Yue to lead him away.

Walking at the back of the pack Huishe Yue soon addressed the matter at hand. He cleared his throat loudly and said, "Your father... I,... I never asked you about it because of what he did to..." Once he opened his mouth he suddenly realised how difficult this subject was for him.

His hand on Rui Fei's shoulder tightened slightly before loosening again and he said, "What kind of seraphic energy did he possess?"

It wasn't Huishe Yue's fault that he didn't know details about the self-proclaimed emperor because he actively avoided the subject. They only talked about him in passing the first time they met but that was it. It was because the subject concerned his twin sister.

His beautiful Huishe Xiyue didn't deserve such treatment. That cheerful girl, the precious treasure of their clan didn't deserve to be assaulted by that bastard. In fact, none of his victims deserved to be treated that way.

Rui Fei clutched the side of his robe with his head lowered as he thought of all his half siblings he watched die in their father's hands. After this, he vowed to finish him off. The last time they clashed he was still weak. Now that he had united with his true form he had the ability to kill him.

"He has various kinds," replied Rui Fei his voice taut, "uncle need not worry about this.... I will take care of it. I will hunt him down and kill him once we are done collecting those stones."

After saying this Rui Fei took a step forward to leave but Huishe Yue grabbed his wrist and whispered something to him. Rui Fei sharply turned to look at him with a blank expression but his eyes showed a ripple of emotion.

What was it that Huishe Yue said that needed to be whispered? It had something to do with opening the portal between the two worlds and the Huishe clan leader. The matter with Huishe Xiyue's death involved the entire clan and for a long time, Huishe Yue had been considering it.

This is the reason why he delayed personally hunting down that vile man and torture him for the rest of his life.

A more satisfying punishment involved implementing special torture methods in the Huishe clan which Huishe Yue's father would be a part of. His precious daughter was not only defiled by a vile man but she was also murdered by him so how can he not want to make the perpetrator suffer.

The only problem was that Huishe Yue's plan meant Rui Fei would have to betray Ji Yao which he was disinclined to do especially after being given the silent treatment for days. The feeling was like his soul was being torn apart and he didn't want that to happen to him again.

Maybe this time Ji Yao would directly dump him. That alone would drive him to do something he wouldn't dare dream of doing.

He would never agree and besides opening that portal would only result in interference in his relationship with Ji Yao so why Invite trouble. He took a step forward and outrightly expressed his refusal in the most polite way possible before walking on ahead.

Huishe Yue who had just been threatened by his nephew showed a fake smile before taking a step forward. He knew that opening the portal was inevitable. There was a lot of pure Nocru walking on this land and once word gets out that someone had managed to assemble the one thing that had kept them from their motherland it would eventually happen.

He knew even Qilin Hao had the same thought in mind. Mentioning this to his nephew was simply to test his attitude and make him weary of it. He couldn't wait to drag that bastard to his clan and torture him for the rest of his life. Death was too easy for a person like that.

As for the matter of what clan Rui Fei's father could possibly belong to, he had no idea. The Nocru were especially protective of their cubs regardless of clan. Be it Huishe or Qilin they would never breed just to kill their offspring. The thought of it was too absurd.

He also had never heard of someone having an empty aether. It was about as impossible as humming while pinching your nose though there were plenty of undiscovered and forgotten clans over the years.. This made him even more curious about this man who had the balls to sully his twin sister.
