While uncle and nephew were butting heads, Rui Fei who had been lost in thought was suddenly startled when he realised he was no longer walking alone. To his right was Rui Li playfully twirling her pigtail around her finger and on his left was Rui Yewan who was abashedly swinging his hands like a shy high schooler. He had been too distracted right now that he didn't notice immediately that he wasn't walking alone anymore.
So what sort of relationship did he have with his brother and sister in law? One was obsessed with Ji Yao's relationship with Rui Fei like a crazy fanatic who would get into a physical fight with anyone who attempts to sink her ship.
The other was reserved though he secretly wished he could be fully accepted into the boys club and be invited to meetings concerning their missions. Which little brother doesn't look up to his older brother and secretly wants to be a part of his older brother's gang of friends, right?
Overall they both liked Ji Yao but hadn't actually hung out with him alone without Rui Fei being present. Since they were destined to be family, it was the best way to get to know each other better. With that in mind, they took the initiative to speak to him but unfortunately their topics of discussion were so far apart.
What made it even more awkward was that they asked at the same time.
"So Saozi, are you the gong in this relationship....,"
"Dage, what is your plan to defeat the creatures....,"
There is no need to even mention who said what between the two. The sentence alone serves as an identifier.
Ji Yao, "....."
Rui Yewan had no idea what the word gong meant in this context but he knew it couldn't be anything good. He wanted to smack her upside her head but because she was on the other side of Ji Yao he couldn't do it.
He just shot her a warning glare which was pointless. Rui Li wouldn't back down. She smiled sweetly at Ji Yao and said, "You most definitely are the gong. I am sure of it. You are handsome, rich and you lead a gang of younger brothers that follow you everywhere," listing the characteristics of the stereotypical gong in danmei loved by most, "You also have that ice cold stay away from me aura. Just thinking about it gives me the chills."
As she said this she rubbed her arms like she was really cold. Rui Yewan knew that he had to stop this before she gets to the part where she explains the meaning of that question so he said, "Dage, don't mind her. Some of the stuff she says are ridiculous. Let's talk about the monsters, that's much more interesting."
"Who did you call ridiculous? See Saozi, he is bullying me," she said before sticking her tongue out Rui Yewan.
Rui Yewan's eyes widened his expression fierce muttering, "You!!!....."
Ji Yao who had somehow been caught in the middle of it looked at Rui Li who was staring at Rui Yewan with a provocative expression and whispered, "Don't call me that.... outside," adding the word outside after a small pause.
He had to admit being called wang fei or saozi made him inexplicably happy. Whenever he was called that a fluffy feeling spread all over his chest and the tips of his ears always turned red.
Though he liked it he was also still so thin-skinned and didn't want his crew to see him like this. But this substitute pirate king had forgotten that he already peeled his skin in front of his crew blushing and sprinkling dog food all over like it's Christmas. These two were like a gift that keeps on giving.
If you didn't like having dog food on your plate then it would be forced down your throat. So this substitute pirate king had already shocked his crew till they were numb.
Rui Li showed an apologetic look on her face saying, "Sorry Yao-ge, I forgot but you really look like a handsome male lead from a romantic novel. You most definitely are the gong though your height might be a little misleading. Dage is taller than you but a gong can be shorter as well, right?"
"Rui Li?!" said Rui Yewan itching to jump over and put a sock in her mouth to silence her.
Ji Yao, who had heard the word gong so many times finally couldn't take it anymore so he asked, "And what does gong mean in this context? From what you are saying it sounds like I would be attacking Ah-Fei and why on earth would I do that?" He wisely chose to ignore the stab to the heart about his height and take it out on Rui Fei later.
You would think Rui Li asking this question meant she fully comprehended the meaning of what she was saying but apparently not. Her knowing all these words was all thanks to that Yinying creature that showed her god knows what. Now everyone especially Rui Yewan was forced to learn the science of the species known as fujoshi.
Rui Li shrugged her shoulders and said, "I don't know but you look like the typical gong. Maybe let's think of it this way. What in your relationship would closely relate to the word attack," tapping at her chin with her finger while putting on a thoughtful expression like she was solving the most complex problem in the universe.
Like good older brothers trying to help their younger sister with her homework they seriously thought about it. It was Rui Yewan who got it first. Unable to control his reaction he swore, "Oh shit!"
Ji Yao's brow creased startled by Rui Yewan's response but immediately after that, his eyes widened not daring to look at Rui Li. Had he ever seriously thought about this question? The answer is a definite no and now because of this little girl, he was forced to think about it.
"You are banned from reading these books. Give them to me," said Rui Yewan as he rushed over to her side to grab her.
Rui Li who had no idea why she was suddenly getting chastised dodged skillfully while scolding him. "No, you can't tell me what to do. Back off... Wan Wan stop bullying me," she said moving away when he tried to grab her again.
Ji Yao who was mindblown also thought Rui Li's novels should be confiscated but it wasn't his place.. What they failed to realize was that it wasn't the books but the Yinying creature that stirred this hot pot.
