Rui Fei couldn't stand that smug look on the kid's face. Yes, he was well aware that it wasn't a kid in that body but he still hated it. It was like he was being looked down on. This was the same exact expression his father used to look at him with as he slowly killed his siblings in front of him.
That look was like a ceaseless taunt calling him weak and helpless. For a very long time, he was tormented by that look each time he closed his eyes while strung up in that dark dungeon. His fist clenched with his lips twitching as he looked up in annoyance.
Just then a loud explosion attracted everyone's attention. The huge gust of wind came from the direction on the cliff where Ji Yao and Rui Fei had just been having a private lovey-dovey session. Ji Yao didn't need anyone to tell him what was going on.
It seemed this beast had brought with it some backup and they had clashed with Lady Ching Sei and Zhang Li. Clouds of dust swept past them bringing along broken down branches, rocks and splinters. One of the flying splinters actually got stuck in Rui Li's finger but she didn't immediately notice.
She was busy glaring daggers at the supposed brother she had found and wanted to befriend. She had thought her brothers were overreacting just now but seeing those cold glacier eyes she couldn't help but get angry. It seemed in this world there were very few people she could trust.
She would never approach people out of her own initiative ever again from this day henceforth. Wanting to vent her anger she took a step forward only to hear Ji Yao bark out orders. "Everyone go help Lady Ching Sei... You too Li-er," he said before leaping into the air with his whip sword swirling around him. With the flames dancing along with his weapon he looked like a diety within a tornado. He looked dazzling with his hair flattering with the cloud of dust sweeping past him.
But Rui Li had no time to admire his saozi because a second explosive force blew past her sending her pigtails flying messing up her hair further. Before her eyes, a creature partially covered in a dark fog rolled on the ground a couple of times before coming to a stop.
"Do you guys have to fight messily," she mumbled tidying her hair as she walked over to the creature lying on the ground like a lifeless corpse.
This creature was unlike something she had seen before. It was like a dragonfly and a snake blended together to form an abomination on steroids. The creature was thrice her size with its folded two pairs of wings covered in patterns that looked like closed eyes.
One of the wings was torn as something had sliced through making it difficult for it to fly the way it normally should. The elongated tail had canines along its back like that of a shark with sharp and jagged edges.
Rui Li took out her sabre intending to slaughter the creature and vent out her pent up frustrations. Actually, the person she really wanted to skin alive was that boy but since her saozi had told her to back off she could only obey.
Raising her sabre with a resounding shing sound she said, "Your head will look pretty good on a spike... or maybe we should just roast you on a fire and see how you taste." The dim moon rays trailed up the blade of her sabre as she raised it in the air with a malicious glint shining in her eyes.
Her expression resembling the joker she powerfully swung down the sabre but before it could touch her target the creature suddenly vanished and reappeared behind her swatting at her legs with its tail.
Rui Li was quick to react jumping up performing a perfect round-off like a pro gymnast but instead of landing in a standing position she reappeared in the air and swung her sabre her expression vicious.
A bright orange beam shot out of her sabre as she swung the sword at an arch. The razor-sharp beam accurately struck the mutant creature but it deflected the attack by crossing its legs. Despite having deflected the attack it didn't mean it was left unscathed. There was a visible crack in the armour of its leg as it was pushed back by the force.
Rui Li playfully spun her sabre with a taunting smirk provoking this creature only to freeze when it made this sound, "ptha crtsh trssh!!!!!" Yes, they were random insect noises but this little girl didn't think so.
"Are you cursing at me? Well, fuck you too," she said steadying her sabre in her hand.
Creature, "..."
All of sudden the creature that had been struck dumb by her response was blown away by powerful ice shards shredding its flesh followed by a dark force smacking it into a tree trunk till it resembled a squashed bug.
Someone had just stolen her prey and she wasn't happy about that. She scanned around only to be met by a pair of guncles (gay uncles) standing nearby. One was grinning like a fool while the other was yelling, "Language little miss missy."
"Fuc- who are you calling miss missy," she said getting down to the ground with an expression menacing enough to send bears running back into hibernation. She stomped over ready to confront Lan Wu.
It's not that she didn't respect her elders but this elder had the balls to not only rob her of her prey that the heavens had blessed her with to vent out her anger but also called her miss missy. As to why she was offended by this way of calling she had no idea. Maybe it was because she felt like she was being belittled or something.
Before she could even confront Lan Wu, Huishe Yue placed his hand on her forehead preventing her from advancing forward. No matter how much she struggled she couldn't get past that arm of steel. Her failure to succeed was inevitable when her opponent was Huishe Yue but she was so angry and wouldn't back down easily.
Exhausted she stood limply supporting her entire weight on Huishe Yue's hand on her forehead. She looked like a dejected pup with her gaze lowered. Struck by this sudden cuteness overload Huishe Yue let go and bent down to match her height and said, "Your temper is much better than Fei-er... Now that you accepted me as your uncle it is only right that we discipline you."
Rui Li who had no idea how the two things had any correlation stared at him blankly.
"I called you uncle, not captain Lan," she refuted but she was suddenly stuffed with a bucket load of dog food out of nowhere.
