In the middle of rundown stone buildings that had crumbled over thousands and thousands of generations stood a myriad of Nocru from all walks of life. Some were tall, some short, humanlike with unique defining features.
The diversity of this group was in its own right special and much more vivid than the beautiful colour palette of skin tones on earth. Everyone stood further from the seven pillars as Huishe Yue read and reread the scripts left by the Qilin clan. He understood it clearly and just wanted to be certain before proceeding.
Rui Fei was also standing on the side with a blank expression. One glance at him and you would think he wasn't thrilled but for those who know him well they could tell he was a bundle of emotions. He was clenching his retractable double-bladed sword tightly till his knuckles turned white.
He just wanted his uncle to hurry up and open that portal but the man was taking too long. If he knew how to do it he would shove his uncle to the side and just take over. Seeing this Rui Yewan had to do something otherwise his older brother might end up really doing something.
"Fei-ge, I am sure uncle Yue will open the portal soon. He just wants to make sure nothing goes wrong," said Rui Yewan trying to talk some sense into him.
Unfortunately, Rui Li was the opposite. She was also impatient and couldn't help saying, "Nah, he is just being a wuss. Yao-ge didn't take long to do this last time."
Rui Yewan turned to look at Rui Fei's hand that tightened even further and glared at Rui Li telling her to keep quiet. What he didn't expect though was for Rui Li to hit him with a comeback so powerful that it spark a typical sibling fight.
"What are you staring at Goatee," she said staring at Rui Yewan, "you look like a baby just took charcoal and drew a terrible line on your chin but because it won't come off you are claiming it's a beard."
Rui Yewan who had never been this insulted in his entire life touched his stubble with an air of resentment. "Well at least I can grow one unlike...," he fired back before shutting up abruptly when he sensed a frightening gaze aimed at him.
Rui Fei who was suddenly dragged into this senseless argument couldn't help but feel bitter. He wanted to touch his chin and defend his lack of facial hair when Huishe Nan who was standing beside them interjected.
"He doesn't have one because he can't grow one. He is just like his grandfather," said the old man touching his hairless chin with a beaming smile.
Rui Fei gave his grandfather a look that seemed to say, "Oh, so it's your fault?" before taking a step forward to urge Huishe Yue on.
Out of all these people, he was the only one eager enough to go back. Just as he took a step forward he felt a penetrating gaze on his body but when he looked around he didn't see anything. That gaze was completely different from the rest. It was like being watched by a predator but he was never the prey.
What he didn't notice was that at the end of the crowd was a person standing among the others with a hood covering their face. That was the source of that gaze which vanished when Rui Fei looked in that direction.
Before he could investigate further Huishe Yue made an exclamation sound as the seven keystones hovered above his palm in a circle as though waiting for his command. "Ah-Fei, you better move back just in case your uncle screws up. I wouldn't want to lose my grandson right after I just got him," said Huishe Shushi staring at Wei Wei with a look that seemed to say, "yes bitch, I meant for you to hear it."
Huishe Yue's shoulders slumped as he cried out, "Ma, please stop!"
After saying this he closed his eyes feeling his seraphic energy exiting his body into the keystones. The more his energy they absorbed the greater the vibrations in each keystone. When his eyes opened with a bright grey light each of them positioned themselves on the right pillars.
An explosive force ripped through the air sending their hair and garments flying. A huge layer of dust spread through the crumbled stone buildings as the ground shook.
Huishe Yue smiled when he saw the lights from the individual pillars stream down before converging at the centre. Like a frisson in an atomic bomb, the luminous lights collided in a violent chain reaction. When they reached a point of saturation a powerful bright light shot up to the sky and struck the heavens.
Meanwhile, on the other side, a powerful beam tore through the skies on Ji Wen's island but none of them seemed surprised. Ji Wen had already instructed them to be on the alert since something big was about to happen.
As the beam of light broke apart and began to spread wider and wider the veil between the two worlds had vanished. As soon as Qilin Hao sensed it she strode over to the back of the Island with Ji Wen behind her.
The concord and their crews were already standing on attention waiting for whatever was going to come from the other side. When Qilin Hao and Ji Wen got to the front of the crowd the first person they saw was Rui Fei striding out from within the light with an unreadable expression.
He didn't even say any greeting simply asking, "Where is he?"
Qilin Hao scoffed while looking away. As expected their tactics were the same. "He is a grown man so how would I know?" she replied in a dismissive tone. The person she wanted to talk to was right behind Rui Fei. Not wanting to waste time she shifted her gaze towards Huishe Nan.
"Clan leader Nan, it seems your methods haven't changed... How about this. If you want Ji Yao then you would have to go through me first," she said and everyone in the Concord drew their weapons ready to cut him and his people down.
Rui Fei who could give a rat's arse about their conflict vanished on the spot followed by Rui Li and Rui Yewan. It was obvious where they were headed but they were bound to be disappointed.
"Fei-er!" yelled Huishe Yue realising something was off.
Huishe Nan had also sensed it but at the moment he couldn't break himself away from the current situation. His ferocious glare fixed on Qilin Hao he said, "You are obviously outnumbered so how about you simply surrender and I will spare all of your lives."
As he said that the rest of the clans emerged from the gateway in their hundreds and each was armed ready to attack.. Even if the Concord had the same number of people there was no way they could take on purebloods and win.
