Ji Yao might not have grown up with his Qilin mother nor had he been exposed to any of the clan members but because of the Qilin blood running through his veins, he could still connect with his ancestry.
These talismans looked ordinary from a single glance but after studying them for a couple of seconds he could see a pattern foreign to this world. For him to fully grasp the pattern he had to engage his aether.
His seraphic energy could act like a filter translating the patterns in a way he could easily understand but the problem was the two Nocru behind him. If he so much as releases a minuscule amount of his seraphic energy the two will go bonkers like a pair of Tasmanian devils.
Well, at least one of them that is Rui Fei. It seemed this long lost uncle was able to control himself, unlike a certain someone who almost choked him to death. He turned around and found Huishe Yue harassing Lan Wu. The poor guy looked like he had been bullied till he couldn't speak anymore.
The funny thing was that Huishe Yue didn't necessarily do anything apart from looking at him. His filthy face covered in blood and dirty clothes were enough to terrify anyone. Ji Yao was about to rescue him when the other two finally woke up.
Unlike Lan Wu, Zhang Li and Lady Ching Sei weren't as chilled. The moment they became lucid they were eager to pick a fight with the school bully and put him in his place.
They assembled faster than the avengers shielding Ji Yao while threatening Huishe Yue with fierce gazes and Zhang Li's foul speech. The funny thing was that while Zhang Li was spitting poison his legs were trembling in fear. He recalled how this ugly Nocru attacked him from behind and knocked him out.
The douchebag even screwed with his mind before that intruding into his deepest secrets which was quite upsetting. Never in his entire life had he been this humiliated. Whatever clan this nocru was from was powerful enough to scare this man but he still had to save face and pretend to be courageous.
Ji Yao had been watching them from the sidelines and couldn't help but chuckle. When the corners of his lips rose slightly it was like Rui Fei's heart was shot by an arrow. He wanted to explain to these two idiots that there was nothing to fear but watching Ji Yao smile he couldn't speak properly. He was like a little piglet lying on fluffy pink clouds.
This sweetness made Huishe Yue dry heave. His family's cub was simping over the enemy. Fine, Ji Yao was more like half enemy but still. Half or pureblood he was still an enemy and his nephew was drooling over him. If they were close he would have smacked him upside his head. Since they weren't then the only thing he could do was roll his eyes.
Just when things were escalating Ji Yao had seen enough so he stopped them and explained. Yes, Huishe Yue was a douche but he was a douche with a sad backstory. Since their misunderstanding had been resolved there was no need for this pissing contest.
The two people who had just been enlightened repeatedly glanced over at Huishe Yue then back at Rui Fei. Their expressions seemed, even more perplexed the more they looked. With furrowed brows, Zhang Li shook the beehive by saying, "I don't see any resemblance. Are you sure you are related? I mean one looks like a ten out of ten and the other probably a five. Hahaha just kidding... let's say a two."
It was such nonsense that got people's tongues cut out but Huishe Yue had something far worse. "I see... at least I didn't steal this lovely miss' perfume on the last concord meeting and sprayed on my body-sized pillow pretending it's her," replied Huishe Yue completely selling Zhang Li out.
Everyone, "...."
"You bastard!" yelled the livid Lady Ching Sei wishing she could strangle this pervert to death. She had no idea he harboured this kind of thought towards her. Yes, the idiot would pick a fight with her at any given opportunity but he also picked fights with anyone willing to take the bait.
Who knew that when he started something with her he was behaving like those preschool boys that pull on girls pigtails because they like them. Unfortunately, Zhang Li fell for a tough nut that was hard to crack. Lady Ching Sei was especially brutal with her fine silk ribbons strangling him.
It took so much time and strength to hold her back. Ji Yao had known Lady Ching Sei since birth but she had never been this pissed off. The culprit who caused all of this was laughing in amusement enjoying the good show. It seemed joining this crew was going to be more entertaining than he thought.
Ji Yao pulled Rui Fei's wrist without thinking and requested, "Fei-er, can you get them out of here while I figure these out," not too pleased with the noisy argument between these two. He spoke to him absentmindedly but to Rui Fei, it was like they were getting married. He could already see them bowing to the heavens and the earth in red gowns.
But as soon as Ji Yao's hand let go of his the beautiful dream was shattered. He was suddenly pulled back to reality and met Ji Yao's back. He was staring at the talismans with a studious gaze making him look especially handsome.
"I can't leave you alone..... with him," he said with the last part said while glancing over at the only person who couldn't leave a.k.a his uncle. He knew what Ji Yao was thinking from the moment his gaze shifted to the talisman.
If he stayed behind with him and Ji Yao activated his seraphic energy then a repeat of what happened last time would happen again. But he also didn't want to leave Ji Yao alone. If anything happens to him then he won't be able to forgive himself.
He could just drag Ji Yao out of here and leave his uncle behind but he also needed to know more about himself and the only person who could further expand his knowledge was his uncle.
Conflicted he pursed his lips while walking over to him. He stood by Ji Yao's side looking at his side profile with a doting look on his face. "Nothing will happen... now stop worrying and go," replied Ji Yao before pushing him away with a slight smile.
As the heat on Rui Fei's chest from Ji Yao's hand dissipated he decided to leave. The earlier he leaves the faster he would get Ji Yao back. He reluctantly pulled Zhang Li out while Lan Wu was trying to calm the vicious Lady Ching Sei.
