After issuing his order, Ji Yao made his way to the tent only to bump into Rui Fei by the entrance. He was well dressed and his lustrous hair was arranged neatly. That's when Ji Yao took notice that the silvery grey ends on Rui Fei's hair had spread half an inch up.
Most people wouldn't notice that subtle change but this was Ji Yao. He knew they had a big issue to handle but he just had to ask him, "Are you feeling okay?"
Rui Fei no longer looked sickly mostly because now he had to stand up and fight to protect Ji Yao. He had sensed those creatures heading in their direction and immediately got up to find Ji Yao.
Because of the hatred engraved in a Huishe towards a Qilin, he could sense the changes in his body when Ji Yao engaged his aether. It was like a wave of violence crept through his bones but it stayed there. The beast was tamed and had no way of coming out.
Seeing that it was true, he was no longer prone to violent outbursts he stepped out only to bump into Ji Yao. "I am fine," replied Rui Fei placing a coat over Ji Yao's body..
Ji Yao watched on as Rui Fei fixed the coat for him. He wanted to tell him it wasn't necessary but his actions made him feel a little warm inside. It wasn't necessary because he would be fighting and will feel hot but to please Rui Fei he would wear it.
"Your hair..... its changing," said Ji Yao trying to dispel the awkwardness lingering in the air.
It seemed even Rui Fei hadn't noticed it as of yet. He brushed the fur coat a little ignoring the chaos behind Ji Yao as he said, "Do I still look handsome?"
Ji Yao, "..."
That's it! Dealing with this looney was an absolute waste of time. He turned to walk away intending to storm off when he was suddenly pulled back. He was about to ask why Rui Fei stopped him when a large growl caught his attention followed by a loud crashing sound like something had been thrown from quite a distance.
Rui Fei had pulled him back to prevent him from getting hit but in truth, Ji Yao would have been fine. Let's not burst his bubble and let him enjoy being the hero.
Because the tug was unexpected Ji Yao directly bumped into Rui Fei's chest. And before he knew it he was being enveloped by those strong arms as though in a secure cocoon.
Ji Yao felt a little ashamed being held like this when they had a crisis going on but he also like this thing called a hug. He only got to embrace his father once in a while and even then his dad was terrible at hugs. Being embraced by Rui Fei there was a huge difference. It felt more natural and intimate making his insides warm.
He was about to break free when Rui Yewan rushed after the half-beast trapping it with his dark seraphic energy. He had just grasped it into his hold when he saw those two hugging.
Rui Yewan, "....."
He felt his eyes were going blind from all this PDA at IM, public display of affection at inappropriate moments. He was so shaken that he accidentally loosened his reins on the beast resulting in a little accident. The beast freed itself and began to blast flames from its foul mouth. Rui Yewan managed to dodge but his hair got burnt a little.
He anxiously put out the fire as Rui Li approached with her sabre and slashed at the creature's chest which sent it flying to the barrier. She casually placed the sabre on her shoulder and said, "Haha, why are you so careless?" with a hand on her hip.
"I..... damn it. Look for yourself," he replied before turning her by the shoulders to see the two that were just separating. Actually, it was more like Ji Yao pushing Rui Fei away but who cares about the technical details, right?
Rui Li's eyes were as wide open as light bulbs. She was so excited she almost screamed. Hugging in the middle of the night? How scandalous. Their presence ended this beautiful scene. Rui Fei wore such a proud smile you would think his lover had told him they were pregnant.
Ji Yao on the other end looked like someone owed him millions striding over with a ready for battle expression his thoughts unknown. It was then Lady Ching Sei rushed over tearing apart the beast with her ribbons spreading like vines.
When Rui Li slashed at it the force was too powerful that it hit its head against the barrier and passed out hence it was easier for Lady Ching Sei to end the creature. They might have played around with the creature passing it along like a balling ball but there was an even bigger problem outside the barrier.
The creatures were especially violent blasting flames towards the barrier and using their own bodies as an enforcer ramming against the barrier like they would die if they don't get what's inside.
Xunshi Zhe was reaching his limit so in a last-ditch effort, he decided to eliminate these crazy bastards before they break his barrier. He said an incantation that most half breeds wouldn't understand and three spheres of light appeared in front of his face rotating in a clockwise direction.
This was his seraphic energy and attaching itself to the circular array it amplified his attack. The spheres struck the array in different directions and suddenly a burst of energy outside the barrier surrounded the creatures disintegrating their bone, skin and flesh.
But even as they approached death's door they still made it a point to ram against the barrier. Cracks started to form on the barrier but it was at that point the light burst forth killing all of the creatures.
With that type of deadly attack, it was lights out for Xunshi Zhe. His head slowly tilted to the side as his body followed suit.
But the expected thud didn't happen. That's because Ji Yao caught his body before it fell.
