Karma indeed. If it weren't that Rui Fei was half Nocru he wouldn't have been able to remove those thorns so quickly. What was funny in all of this was that Huishe Yue could see this legendary beast coming after them but he still had time to gloat. He was like that one person who would still find time to say, "I told you so," even after a car accident.
All jokes aside, he knew the seriousness of this situation so did the other two. Rui Fei and Ji Yao engaged their aether and launched an aggressive attack at the horrendous beast. Huishe Yue dashed over activating his death inducement ability that is the power to disintegrate a life form.
This was the highest level of the Huishe clan's abilities and the fact that he chose to use this high energy expulsion method from the get-go meant this creature was tough to deal with. With an eerie black fog enveloping his arms he leapt up into the air and attacked the Hundun.
The Hundun was especially sharp despite it not having ears or eyes. It turned its hind leg forming an arch on the ground with its bear-like paws before stomping on the ground.
A large cloud of dust shot up like a missile as though being uprooted from the ground and Huishe Yue was sent flying a dozen meters away along with the half beasts' carcass which piled up on top of him.
The Hundun's body shook as though delighted at his misfortune. It seemed its rumoured sense of humour in chaos was also true. Its body shook like a baby's rattle toy while it swatted away Ji Yao and Rui Fei. It was as giddy as a pig rolling in mud to keep its body cool.
Pissed off he disintegrated the corpses as he rose from the pile with a dark expression. He had been confined in a hell hole for fifty years because some idiot got lucky. Now he was being made fun of by a pig. I can tell you now he wasn't so pleased about it. The Hundun stopped laughing when it sensed his rage.
Its wings spread apart blowing a gust of wind as powerful as a full-blown tornado. But Huishe Yue stood his ground going against the wind etching closer to his breaking point. Ji Yao took the opportunity while it was distracted by Huishe Yue to swing his sword and slash at the joint of one of its wings.
The cut was deep but there was no blood coming out of the wound as the flames had burnt the Hundun's thick skin. Enraged the Hundun made a bellowing sound coming from within as though expressing its displeasure telepathically.
Rui Fei didn't waste any time transforming his seraphic energy into flying daggers cutting the Hundun's wing off at its joint where Ji Yao had wounded it before. This time there was blood spatter everywhere with the Hundun pulling back in rage.
All jokes were over and things had escalated to fatal levels. The beast created a barrier around itself struggling to look at its beautiful wing that had been severed but it had no eyes. Using its internal energy it assessed the damage while the trio attacked the barrier constantly trying to break into it.
But the Hundun wasn't at all concerned about them healing its beautiful wing that had been severed by these heartless creatures. It couldn't wait to bury them in the ground's core where no one would ever find them.
After trying to break through the barrier a dozen times, Ji Yao retracted his sword and turned to Huishe Yue asking, "What now?"
Huishe Yue who was normally chilled and approachable was as cold as ice scowling as he folded up his sleeves.
"From what I know when it's healing like this it's at its most vulnerable. And as soon as it's done expect it to be much more aggressive.....," replied Huishe Yue before turning to Rui Fei, "We need to transform."
Rui Fei who had only done it once underwater couldn't wait to give it a shot. He nodded his head in agreement and turned to look at Ji Yao. "Isn't it safer for you to be a bit further?" he said earning him a demerit in Ji Yao's book. What did he mean by safer? Just because these two could harmonise with their aether and transform didn't make him any less weak.
Ji Yao just gave him a warning look as he moved away a few feet. Him moving didn't mean he was going to take Rui Fei's advice. In fact, he was preparing to prove a point. He wasn't going anywhere.
Huishe Yue felt a little sorry for his nephew who had no idea how offensive that was to Ji Yao. He was just a bystander in the peanut gallery watching his nephew dig a pit for himself.
Hey, don't blame him, he gave the kid a sweet chilled drink to make amends. To get it that cold he had acquired assistance from Lan Wu after much much persuasion.
Okay, it was more like manipulation than persuasion but he would never admit that. He helped enough for his twin sister's sake and if the great Huishe leader was ever to find out he might kill him for this.
Anyone from other clans was fine apart from the Qilin clan and he just helped his nephew get with one. He surely hopes his father never finds out otherwise he is a dead man.
Rui Fei could sense something was off but he didn't have time to explain himself because Ji Yao had walked away. He was about to follow him when the Hundun stomped its leg before pawing with its forefoot, sending dirt flying behind in a clear display of aggression.
Its faceless body was facing Rui Fei's direction as though threatening him. He was the one who ruined its gorgeous wing which meant he was its first target.
Rui Fei scoffed with the gentle expression from earlier was now replaced by a darkly look that could scare a corpse. The pair of nephew and uncle leapt up in the air and their entire bodies were enveloped in a bright light shaped like a serpent. It was truly a majestic sight to behold but no one had time to appreciate this beauty because the Hundun was getting impatient. The presence of a much greater opponent got it all excited that it wanted to fight immediately.
The transformation was fairly quick and Rui Fei roared in excitement before showing off his might striking the barrier over and over again. The two fully transformed Huishe, one big and one small, viciously attacked the barrier intending to end their fight sooner rather than later.
Ji Yao didn't wait around for these two to handle everything so he engaged his aether at its highest threshold and began to tear down at that shield. He might not be able to transform like them but he was still his father's son and his father didn't raise weaklings.
