Chapter 144 - The Hundun's Secret Weapon 2

Ji Yao drew out his Raiju seraphic energy and summoned lightning from who knows where. The cloudless starry sky suddenly released an explosive strike of lightning which directly attached itself to Ji Yao. His entire body was above ground and his eyes were a luminous blue with streaks of lightning sparks coming from his body.

With his hands stretched out palm up he gathered spheres of lightning powerful enough to wipe out half the continent before striking it on the barrier. That hit came as such a surprise that the two Huishe took a step back.

It was clear Ji Yao had something to prove and sure enough, the barrier cracked like an egg. This was a public statement to never underestimate the power of a Raiju. Sure the Qilin and Huishe were powerful but when compared to Raiju it was power in numbers. If the Raiju wasn't such a small clan they would be contending with these two.

Unfortunately, it was already too late because just then the beast had healed and it was ready to pick a fight. The scene instantly turned chaotic with its opponents ganging up against it.

Despite their numbers, the Hundun was standing its ground. It was a legendary Nocru thought to have been wiped out of existence by the other clans so how could it not have a few tricks up its sleeve.

Sudden vibrational waves emanated from the Hundun affecting everyone around it. All three of them were pushed back by the force of the vibrations. This time they all fell to the ground and when they got up they felt intense pain in their heads like there was an intrusive force invading their minds.

Rui Fei and Huishe Yue couldn't hold their true form under these conditions. They changed to their human form. That's when things got really complicated. The Hundun had launched its specialized skill known as 'muddled confusion' on these three.

Its effect was especially strong that it would turn friends into enemies and enemies into even bigger enemies. Rui Fei was the one who got up first and what he felt in his heart made him so upset that he went over to Ji Yao in a panic. He had this odd sense that Ji Yao was going to leave him for no reason and he didn't want that. He didn't want that at all.

Maybe under the influence of this attack, his worst fear was brought out into the open and he became very desperate. Ji Yao had just half sat up from the ground when he was hugged out of nowhere.

The effects of the attack on him weren't as severe as these two. I mean Rui Fei was busy thinking he was getting dumped before a relationship even began while Huishe Yue was beating a tree for some reason. Rui Fei was lucid though he had a strong feeling that he and Rui Fei weren't on good terms.

Like Rui Fei had done something so bad that he couldn't forgive him. What they didn't realise was that the menacing Hundun had projected the feeling of betrayal they would experience in the future and confuse them into thinking it was happening in the now.

It didn't just conjure up random shit to confuse them with because it needed something that would hit hard making it difficult to extricate themselves. While this was happening it would take advantage and finish them off.

The only problem was Ji Yao in this equation. He somehow managed to stay lucid. He had to manage two people while trying to fend off this stupid Hundun. Ji Yao tried to get up but Rui Fei wouldn't let go. He was kneeling before Ji Yao hugging him tightly while mumbling, "You can't leave," under his breath.

Ji Yao was about to talk him into letting him go when he saw that gigantic bear paw twice their size coming at them. He quickly embraced Rui Fei and rolled on the ground escaping the paw that was descending on them.

He shielded Rui Fei's head as dust and debris flying all over the place from the Hundun stomping on the ground. As the dust settled Ji Yao sat up straight only to find out he was straddling Rui Fei.

Ji Yao, "...."

The distraught look on Rui Fei's face had completely vanished replaced by a roguish expression that could only mean one thing. "I don't mind but..... right here? I mean it's a little uncomfortable... ouch!" said Rui Fei followed by a cry of pain. Ji Yao had pinched him. He had pinched him real hard.

"Don't you even think about it," he said getting up. He dragged Rui Fei up and led him away dodging the Hundun's legs stomping on the ground like an elephant trying to step on a field mouse.

Rui Fei couldn't perceive any sense of danger in his surroundings. It was as though he couldn't see the giant faceless creature attacking them. Ji Yao managed to grab Huishe Yue along saving him as well from the beast's attack. He had to admit the Hundun's strategy was incredibly smart. If he wasn't lucid then they would all be dead.

What he didn't realise was that the sword his mother gave was something special. It was as though she had thought of everything and anything including legendary Nocru that can harm her baby when she made this sword.

As mentioned before the Qilin is especially protective of their cubs and possessive to their spouses explaining why that sword was specially made for Ji Yao.

Ji Yao managed to keep them out of harm's way. If only they could stay put it would make his job easier. The problem wasn't Huishe Yue but Rui Fei. Huishe Yue was happy cursing out his tree and calling it names.

Rui Fei on the other hand was upset about dragging along Huishe Yue. One might say isn't that the usual thing? Just a minute ago he wasn't happy about Ji Yao giving Huishe Yue a handkerchief. Well, this time it was worse because Ji Yao touched Huishe Yue and in Rui Fei's mind, this wasn't an emergency and Ji Yao can only touch him.

This meant a fight was about to brew especially when Huishe Yue kept giving the tree the business and Ji Yao kept pulling him back. The more touching the greater the conflict.

The confusion in Rui Fei's head escalated to 'Ji Yao is going to leave me and run away with my uncle'. Never in Ji Yao's life had he ever met a person with this many insecurities. Well, he is one to talk. Wait until he falls hard then we can ask the question who is more insecure.
