Chapter 145 - Baby Cage

Ji Yao had never been this frustrated in his entire life. The best way to describe it would be like babysitting two siblings who can't stop fighting. To them, they were fighting a fierce battle but in truth it was like a couple of drunk guys fighting, uncoordinated and senseless.

Now imagine all that plus a weird-ass creature that gave him the shivers each time he looked at it chasing them around like a cat playing with a mouse before the bloody slaughter.

Ji Yao finally reached his limit. He had to regain control over the situation otherwise he will start to lose his strength and fail to outrun this Hundun. As before he grabbed these two as the bear paw approached them and ran.

With the paw's shadow looming above his head he tossed the two out of the danger zone and drew his sword. The Hundun didn't expect this so it didn't stop its leg from descending on Ji Yao in time. Ji Yao turned sharply with his hair flipping along with his motion and stabbed into the paw like a kabab.

The Hundun, "....."

The sudden attack had it teary with no eyes. It wasn't sure whether to pull back or stay put just like humans when they get stabbed. At that moment they aren't sure whether pulling it out will mean instant death hence the panic.

For the Hundun it was its paw which was far from a fatal wound but it still panicked. It shook the earth in displeasure but not daring to move its painful paw. It was Ji Yao who stabbed in deeper causing the beast to erupt in anger.

Ji Yao drew back the flaming sword and the Hundun stumbled backwards with its injured leg curling under the knuckles. While it was retreating, Ji Yao rushed over to the two people who seemed more stupid than confused.

He directed them to stand in one spot and drew an array on the ground. This was one of Xunshi Zhe's tricks that he picked up. He created a temporary barrier to keep them in place.

He had seen Xunshi Zhe use this trick on a kid that kept running around the island. He called it a baby playpen but everyone knew that was more like a baby cage. Well, at least the kid stopped making trouble.

Now Ji Yao was using it on two grown men. If they wanted to fight it out they could at least do it while out of harm's way. As soon as Ji Yao turned to face the Hundun that was healing its paw but failing, Rui Fei started making trouble. He seemed very upset that Ji Yao had locked him up and left without him.

Ji Yao was forced to ignore his senseless rant and rushed over to attack the Hundun. The beast had been limping trying to heal the wound but it wasn't happening as it should. Frustrated it began to raise dust making that awful sound without a mouth.

Ji Yao looked down at his sword and furrowed his brows. A theory appeared in his mind and he was compelled to find out what was going on. He walked around to where the wing on the Hundun had been severed only to find the initial cut he made hadn't healed.

The wing had been put back and reattached like nothing happened but that laceration was still so apparent. He looked down at his sword that was vibrating in his hand in excitement as though saying, "Praise me."

Ji Yao had never been this grateful to his mother in his entire life. It was obvious whatever this sword was forged with was a thorn in the Hundun's nonexistent eye. Opening the palm of his hand he gazed at the intricate hilt with the Qilin family crest and couldn't help but admire it.

He had initially refused this sword but it turns out they were destined to be together. While he was a little distracted the Hundun launched another attack and this time it was venting out its anger for the wound on its paw that wasn't healing.

Taken by surprise, Ji Yao leapt up in the air dodging the attack. He swung his sword at the beast marking the beginning of an endless battle. The Hundun finally caught up and realised the sword was the problem.

So it changed strategies. The plan was to separate Ji Yao from that sword and end his life but that was easier said than done. The two were like a pair of scissors, you can't use one without the other for the intended purpose.

Ji Yao wouldn't let that sword out of his hand. Even what he used to do before like letting it hover around him performing a series of attacks was not happening today. He couldn't give this beast a chance.

The fight was so intense that Ji Yao managed to sneak in some cuts but the price was awfully high. Ji Yao was banged up a couple of times but it wasn't anything serious that he couldn't carry on. He was able to keep up but the more cuts he made the more agitated it became. He had to find a better way to bring down this beast otherwise he would tire himself out without dealing much damage.

It seemed the universe had heard his plea because he finally managed to catch a break. While fighting this mighty beast he realised something. This Nocru turned beast loved chaos and one can only beat chaos with chaos.

With the Hundun charging towards him, Ji Yao held on to his sword as he hovered above the ground. Closing his eyes he concentrated on his aether as a wave of calmness washed over him. A powerful surge in seraphic energy stirred up in his aether like a raging storm. The two kinds of seraphic energy blend into a Purton, a potent mix of fire and lightning, before gushing out into his aetherial veins like the floodgates had been opened after heavy rainfall.

The Purton burst forth out of his body creating a storm made of a substance that is considered as the brightest and has the burning power of the sun.

This powerful phenomenon came to light right before the Hundun reached Ji Yao. As soon as it stepped into that storm the chaotic vibrations from its body and the Purton clashed resulting in a massive explosion sending both of them flying in different directions. It was like a massive asteroid struck earth causing an explosion that stretched on for miles.

A smog of dust rose like a sand storm covering the sun. The sunlight-blocking dust was so thick that one could barely see their hands when they raise them in front of them.

The explosion also managed to break the baby cage barrier that Ji Yao had put in place for those two. Because the Hundun was knocked away by the explosion the hold it had on them vanished and boy did they feel stupid.
