Zhihao's face dropped colors as he questioned, "He's... Unhappy?"
His mother slowly nodded her head before shaking it reluctantly, "Not exactly..."
"Mom, you raised a homophobic husband?" Huang Zhen monotonously asked without bothering to look up from his phone where he was giving a live update of the situation to Li Ling's sister.
Huang Zhi Juan sighed as she squeezed Zhihao's hand, "Your father's not homophobic and he has no problem with you liking a man, but... He does have a problem with you liking Li Ling."
Zhihao frowned as his pupils contracted, "What do you mean, mom?"
Huang Zhi Juan shrugged her shoulders as she replied, "You know, right? That Li Ling is your father's business partner?"
Zhihao nodded his head. It was only recently that he had found out but at least he knew it by now.
"But he's just a worker at Omelas. Father shouldn't even know him that well...?"
Huang Zhi Juan looked a little stunned as she heard this, "Honey, he didn't tell you yet?"
"Tell me what?"
Huang Zhi Juan pursed her lips and squeezed his hand reassuringly, "He's not just a worker at Omelas. He's your father's direct business partner. Li Ling is the C.E.O. and founder of Omelas."
Zhihao was silent for a minute and it almost looked as if the shock had rendered him speechless, "Excuse me... What?!"
"You didn't know, big bro?" Huang Zhen asked teasingly.
"You knew?" Zhihao snapped his head at his little brother.
Huang Zhen shrugged his shoulders as he responded, "I know a lot of things that you don't."
"This doesn't make any sense," Zhihao muttered. His eyes were wide open in disbelief and he was having a hard time believing the reality of the situation.
Huang Zhi Juan smiled thinly as she patted his head, "I'm sure he just forgot to tell you."
"Wait, mom. I don't understand," Zhihao shook his head as he met her eyes, "Why would my father be against us just because Li Ling is the founder of Omelas...?"
With all facts considered, Zhihao felt that the situation just didn't add up. His father should have been more than happy to know that his son-in-law was someone impressive, so why was the situation different? Why was he dissatisfied with it?
Huang Zhi Juan sighed as she heard this question, "Let's just say that he doesn't like the way Li Ling deals with things. Their partnership hasn't really been that smooth running."
"Well, that's fantastic news!" Zhihao immediately stood up enthusiastically.
"It is?" Huang Zhi Juan asked with a concerned expression.
"It is?" Huang Zhen also looked to be shocked as he lifted his head and looked at his brother.
"Of course, it is!" Zhihao exclaimed happily, "This could be a chance for them to get to know each other better. I'm sure there's some misunderstanding between them and with this opportunity, we could solve it."
"Oh Honey... I wonder why you're so naive," Huang Zhi Juan commented with a sigh.
Huang Zhen shrugged his shoulders and looked at his mother, "Mom, it's your fault. You should've taught him better."
"Hey! I raised him to the best of my abilities!" Huang Zhi Juan defended herself.
"Sure~" Huang Zhen turned back to texting on his phone.
"We can arrange a dinner and have them meet. I'm sure father would be polite to him, considering the fact that he's my boyfriend."
Huang Zhi Juan chuckled coldly as she heard this, "A-Zhi, I like the fact that you're so optimistic, but life doesn't always go as planned. You might think that's what happens but you forgot to consider another possibility."
"Another possibility?"
Huang Zhi Juan nodded her head as she stood up, "Think of this. What if you arrange a dinner and your father flips the whole table on Li Ling? How are you going to control that?"
Zhihao's eyes widened as he immediately shook his head, "That ain't gonna happen."
Huang Zhi Juan chuckled dryly as she nodded her head, "That could very well happen. Your boyfriend just canceled the T.I.A.D. sensory room... Your father's pretty mad."
"..." Zhihao gulped as he looked at his mother with a questioning gaze, "That could... Happen?"
Huang Zhi Juan nodded her head as she gently spun Zhihao and pushed him forward, "It's a possibility. Now go and get me something to drink. My throat is killing me."
Zhihao frowned in dissatisfaction but still nodded his head as he got ready to get a glass of water for his mother, "Okay..."
After Zhihao had left, Huang Zhi Juan sighed and Huang Zhen looked at her before questioning, "Mom, is it really that bad?"
Huang Zhi Juan looked at her son and nodded her head lightly, "Your father's planning on murdering our son-in-law. Believe me, it's bad."
"Hmm... Can't say I blame him," Huang Zhen shrugged his shoulders and got back to paying all of his attention to his phone.
Huang Zhi Juan sighed as she flopped down on the couch, "I wonder what A-Zhi has in store for him..."
Just a minute later, Huang Zhi Juan got a call and she immediately attended to the urgent call.
"What happened?" Instead of a 'hello' these were the first words she asked the caller.
The more she listened to the other person speaking, the more twisted her face became.
"Got it, I'll be there in a minute!" She abruptly cut the call and got ready to leave the place, only to turn around last minute and walk back into the living room, "A-Zhen, honey, tell your brother that I had some important stuff to do. And tell him to stay away from the game."
Huang Zhen nodded his head, without bothering to lift his head up, "Bye, mom."
Huang Zhi Juan got ready to leave but once again, when she got close to the door, she turned around and walked to the living room. She picked up a post-it note from her purse and wrote the same thing on the note before pasting the note on the table, "Make sure that your brother reads this note."
Huang Zhen muttered a small "Okay" as he kept his eyes glued to his phone, laughing at something that Li Ying had sent him.
Huang Zhi Juan squinted at her son who seemed absentminded.
"Should I trust you...?" She muttered but in the end, she didn't have enough time to waste pondering over this and so, she left the place as soon as possible.
The post-it was on the table so there was no way Zhihao would miss it. This was more reassuring for her than Huang Zhen telling Zhihao the message Huang Zhi Juan had left for him.
A few minutes later, Zhihao came back to the living room with a tray in hand. There were three glasses filled with orange juice and some snacks kept on a plate.
He frowned when he could no longer spot Huang Zhi Juan, "A-Zhen, where did mom go?"
"She had some important business to deal with so she left early." Huang Zhen responded as he looked up at the tray, "Ooh~ Snacks!"
Zhihao kept the tray down on the tables, coincidentally, on top of the post-it note that he was never able to read.
Huang Zhen picked the snacks and started munching on them before conveying the rest of the message Huang Zhi Juan had left for Zhihao, "She also told you to take care of your health and not play so much. You should sleep, big bro. Stop playing on your computer all night, it's bad for your eyes."
Zhihao frowned as he smacked his brother's head, "Did you become my mother suddenly?"
Huang Zhen rubbed his head as he cried out in defense, "That's what she told me to tell you! It's a message from her, not me!"
Zhihao rolled his eyes as he made his way back up the stairs to his room.
Huang Zhen watched him go with a frown on his face, "You're always hitting me!"
"Because you deserve it," Zhihao shouted back from the stairs.
Huang Zhen stuck his tongue out and mocked Zhihao but the man was already out of sight and hence it was only natural that he didn't see it.
Huang Zhen drank the orange juice and happily munched on the snacks, his eyes glued to his phone, laughing every now and then at something that was probably not as funny as he made it seem.
After an hour, he reached out his hand to take the cookies but found that he had already finished all of them.
"Damn it..." He muttered as he picked up the tray and took it back to the kitchen.
The post-it note that was squeezed under the tray somehow stuck onto the bottom of it and was taken to the dishwasher along with the tray.
Huang Zhen wasn't nice enough to wash the dishes and hence the post-it stayed there, hidden from everyone till someone actually came to wash the dishes. Unfortunately, nobody came on time, and hence, the post-it became thoroughly useless.
Huang Zhen flopped down on the couch again and texted away on his phone.
The content written inside the post-it: A-Zhi, stay away from T.I.A.D. for a few days. There's something wrong with the system. Don't log in, okay? I don't want to put you in danger.
