Blake woke up with a smile plastered across his face. He was happy and his happiness was evident on his face as he hummed and waltzed around his room.
Maybe it was the gifts he was going to receive, or the fact that Jake was around for his birthday this year....he didn't know what it was, but he felt extremely happy.
He had spent his last 5 birthdays without his brother. It was just him and his grandfather, and he would stay at home all day and do nothing, or probably hang out with a few friends....but today was different.
"Happy birthday! I see you're in a good mood" Grandfather Beau said with a smile as he slowly walked into Blake's room.
"Grandfather" Blake chirped as he walked closer before giving him a hug.
"Why are you dressed up?" Grandfather Beau asked raising a brow, when he noticed Blake was formally dressed before taking his seat by the edge of the bed.
"Going to work" He replied, putting on his watch.
"Work?" Grandfather Beau asked with widen eyes. He was surprised to see Blake dressed and ready for work on his birthday. And the most unbelievable thing was, Blake wasn't murmuring. That was unusual.
'The heavens must be hosting a party on his behalf' Grandfather Beau said to himself.
Blake chuckled when he noticed his grandfather's expression, "Why do you have that look? Is it strange?" Blake asked with a smile.
"Mmm" His grandfather nodded. Blake must really be in a good mood to be this happy and willing to go to work on his birthday.
Blake has never been the type to feel enthusiastic about work, most especially on his birthdays. He loathed the idea of working on a 'public holiday', as he always called it.
He'd rather stay at home all day and sleep than go to the office.
'Weren't birthdays supposed to be like a public holidays?' He'd always say.
"Well I'm just being generous today. We don't want the company losing money because I'm not around right?" He said wriggling his brows playfully.
Grandfather Beau scoffed. Now, he thought Blake was going way over his head. When has ever contributed to the profitting of the company? If he hadn't been his grandson, he would have long kicked him out of the company.
"Grandfather how do I look?" He asked as he slowly twirled around.
"Handsome" His grandfather replied with a thumbs up.
"I know right. Well I have to be, after all it's my day and my brother can't outshine me today" He said with a confident smile.
"Looking good" Jake complimented him as he stood by Blake's door post.
"Thank you" He replied as he slowly turned around to glance at him. His smile slowly dissappeared from his face. "Go take it off" He ordered with a scowl, making Jake frown at him in confusion.
"Jake you're doing it again. You can't wear same thing as me. Where's your heart?" He spat out in annoyance, as he glared at him.
Jake caught on what Blake was saying. He couldn't believe his brother was being petty right now.
"It was a coincidence" He said in his defense.
"Coincidence or not, go and wear something else" He said with a frown.
"You should change yours" Jake refuted.
"Jake, it's my birthday. Mine!!" Blake exclaimed with a sad face.
"Alright fine" Jake yielded. It wasn't as if they actually wore same thing, it just had same color. What could he do, when he shamelessly doted on his brother.
"Thank you" He replied as a smile creeped across on his face.
"Whatever" Jake said rolling his eyes at him before turning around to leave.
"You haven't wished me yet" Blake reminded him.
"Happy birthday" Jake said with a smile as he motioned him to come closer. Jake pulled him into a hug when he walked close to him. He had totally forgotten why he was there in the first place. He had come over to wish him a happy birthday, before Blake started nagging him.
Blake has been a major source of happiness in his life. He was the closest person to his heart and he loved him unconditionally even though he doesn't show it always.
The few years he spent abroad were not easy for him. Because he was worried about him and their grandfather. He was just a few years older than Blake, but he knew he was responsible for him, since they've lost both parents.
He didn't feel like leaving him behind most especially after losing their father. He knew he had to stay by him and watch him grow, but he couldn't help it but leave at the time. He had to take care of the company since their father died, and also he wanted Blake to be less dependent on him. He still hasn't forgotten how Blake had earnestly pleaded to go with him, but he had refused. He had missed the last 5 years with him and he knew he had to makeup for that.
A mischievious smile spread across his face when an idea popped up in his head. "Blake it's that a grey hair I see? Are you growing old so fast?" He exclaimed dramatically, causing Blake to look at him in shock and surprise.
"What? Gr..ey hair?" He asked with widened eyes before running to the mirror. "Where?" He asked as he ruffled his hair in search of it, while Jake chuckled in amusement before waltzing off.
"I hate you" Blake said in anger when he realized it was a trick. He couldn't believe he fell for that. He frowned at the sight of his dishevelled hair.
Grandfather Beau chuckled in amusement at Jake's countenance. He looked like a kid who's candy has been snatched.
"You should try working on your hair, if you don't want to scare the staffs at work" Grandfather Beau said with a smile before standing up to leave.
"Bullies" He hissed under his breath, before picking up a comb to fix his hair.. He was just going to take his time to look better than that brother of his.
