Chapter 44 - Birthday Party 2

Amy cheeks flushed at the sight of Blake. He was gorgeously dressed in his white retro handmade suit that made him look extremely handsome. She had always known he had a thing for white, but seeing him right now made her heart flutter like she was seeing him for the first time.

Her heart was wildly racing as he flashed a smile in her direction. Everything in her told her he was smiling at her, and this made her knees go weak.

She halt on her steps which she didn't know she had taken subconsciously, when she saw Blake wave in her direction, but it wasn't at her....it was Lair.

He was waving at Lair!!

She slowly turned to Lair with a scowl. Why was he stealing her spot light? She had known he'd jinx the night for her. She recomposed herself and looked at his direction again. Maybe, just maybe he didn't see her, she said to herself.

She frowned slightly when she noticed he was no longer standing there.

Jade didn't miss out on what was happening in front of her. She closely observed Amy's change in countenance, and she was sure Amy was somewhat feeling sad.

"I don't think he saw you. He must had had his eyes on Lair, since he had invited him specially" She said thoughtfully making Amy sigh.

Maybe Jade was right. She looked different tonight after all, so different that she wouldn't have been able to recognize herself if she hadn't personally made herself look pretty.

"I guess you're right" She said as a small smile spread across her face.

"Let's go say hi then" Amy suggested with impatiently. She could no longer wait to show off all this beauty to Blake. He'd definitely be enthralled by her .

"I can't believe you didn't me invite for our little man's birthday, that's bad man." Mike complained to Jake with a mock glare. He couldn't believe Jake would actually not invite him for Blake's party. And to make matters worse, he had found out about it from Phil.

Phil who was chasing women around the country knew about it, but he didn't??

"Why should I have done that?" Jake asked nonchalantly as he raised his glass to his lips.

"What do you mean by that? What is he trying to say?" Mike asked as he turned to Rick like he was reporting back to him.

"I guess he didn't want to invite you, but I was invited" Rick said with a mock smile. Mike was dumbfounded by Rick's response. He frowned at him for finding the situation amusing. He was hurt for being sidelined. Why couldn't they see that?

"So why wasn't I invited?" Mike asked with a frown, staring back at Jake with vexed eyes.

"Isn't it obvious he didn't invite you because you won't stop teasing his brother?"

"And after all we knew you would always find your way here" Daniel replied making Mike scoff in disbelief. He didn't see this coming. He'd never thought that a day would come when his friends would do something like this to him. Like go to a party with out him or try avoiding him.

Unbelievable!!

He gave them a displeased look before settling his gaze back on Jake. "You are just so evil and you're doing a good job by making them your minions" He said as Jake smirked at him.

"So where's the birthday boy?" Mike asked looking around. He was sure he had seen Blake with Jake and the others when he walked in.

Jake turned around to look for Blake who has suddenly scampered away at the sight of Mike.

It wasn't unusual for Blake to hide away from Mike. He always did that when Mike came around.

Blake could never handle Mike's teaseful attitude. He never gets tired of making a jest of him. If it hadn't been the fact that he was his brother's friend, he might have returned the favour. In one word, Mike was annoying. Though he respected Mike as a brother, but that didn't change the fact that he was annoying.

Blake was sure the beautiful lady standing by Lair looked familiar. He had a hunch that he knew her, but he couldn't remember how or where. He thought she looked beautiful...very beautiful. She some what looked like the guest he was expecting. He wondered why she hadn't showed up yet.

Maybe she had gone for the party she had mentioned earlier. He really wanted to thank her for her gift. He'd never thought she took notice of what he liked or used.

Her gift had actually made him happy.

He was about heading over to Lair when Jake signalled him over, it was time to cut the cake.. Blake made a mental note to talk to Lair before the party was over.
