Chapter 73 - Favorite Intern

Jade was elated as she resumed work the next day. She thought about her new job and the dinner she had last night with her family and friends. But what excited her the most was the fact that she was one step closer in accomplishing her dreams of being a game designer.

Xenox was the game leading company in the country and it has always created so many opportunities for young staffs to grow, this has been one of the reasons why she had helped Cale in applying in this company, so she could also intern here and maybe some day she would have the opportunity of being a staff here, but who would have thought that it would happen so soon.

Jade was surprised by the sound of all the congratulations that echoed through her ears as soon as she walked into the office, which made her heart swell with happiness. Not once has she experienced something like this, it all felt new to her, but in a good way which made her proud of herself.

She had no idea that a lot of people liked this much. She has always been a taciturn person when at work and would speak when necessary, and she was sure she hasn't spoken to all this people. Even if she did she was sure it would have only been work related. Come to think of it, how did they know about it? It was just two days ago, that she spoke with the vice president and surprisingly she had signed the contract yesterday, so how did they know?

There was just her, the VP, Cale, Stephanie and her supervisor were in the Vice President's office on that day. It definitely wasn't Cale and Stephanie, because she had seen the displeased on their faces when they received the news that she had signed the contract with Acrosoft, and it couldn't be Mrs Tracy Lin, that woman was as cold as ice and would never have such discussions with people. That left her with only one person, her supervisor, Mr Alain.

As if on cue the man appeared before her like he has been conjured out of her thought.

"That's my favorite intern" Mr Alan said as he walked towards her with a smile. Alan has been fond of Jade since the first day she started working there. She had moved his heart with her dilligence. Although he had been a little worried with how easily she agreed with people's opinions and suggestions, he had always known that there was more to her than she was letting on.

When Jade walked into the Vice president's office that fateful day, he was elated like a father who has long been waiting for the his child would ride his/her bicycle without training wheels.

"Good morning sir" Jade greeted with a sweet smile and a bow.

"Sir did you.." Jade let her words trail off, since she still wasn't sure if he was the actual culprit.

"Yes I did. I hope you don't mind. I really couldn't keep it to myself" He said with a proud smile, making Jade smile widen.

"We've all been rooting for you, you know" He added, Jade's eyes popped as she heard his words.

"Rooting for me? I thought they didn't even like me" Jade said truthfully while Alan let out a small laugh. That has always been the impression she had about them, but she didn't mind as long as she remained through to herself and she had Cale there, little did she know that, he was also a lie.

"Well it seems you didn't know anything at all" Mr Alan teased.

"They all admire your dedication to your job even though you're just a inte..oops" He trailed off when he realized he had used the wrong word.

"Sorry" He apologized. "You were just an intern" He said with a very proud smile.

"Thank you sir" Jade said feeling emotional. She had never for once thought she was admired by her colleagues. She could feel butterflies in her stomach at this revelation.

"We'll miss down here" Alan said to her.

"I'm still here. I haven't changed office yet and the vice president hasn't said anything too. So for now you're stuck with me sir"

"Not for long. Because the Vice president has asked for you to come to her office" Alan informed her taking Jade by surprise. She suddenly felt nervous and excited at same time.

"Really?"

"Yes"

"Sir do you know why" Jade asked nervously. Thinking about going into the lady boss office and standing before her, suddenly made her palms sweat. Alan didn't miss the nervous look sitting on Jade's face, he chuckled amusedly.

"Don't tell me you're nervous. How did you enter into her office the first time making demands like you did?" He asked.

"Wel...i..just did that on impulse" Jade replied lowering head down as she looked at her shoes.

"Don't be nervous. I guess it will be about your new job"

"Sir are you sure?" Fear was slowly trickling in her heart. How she had bravely gone into the vice president's office was still a shock to her. Yesterday she had dropped the signed documents with the VP's secretary, too afraid to face the woman.

Maybe the Mrs Tracy had thought about how foolish she had acted by making such a request? What if she gets scolded for being to brazen and foolish?

She had been preoccupied thinking about securing the contract, so much that she has not reflected on her actions on that fateful day.

"Yes. I have some things to review with her, so you can come along if that will make you feel better" Mr Alan offered, while Jade nodded. Of course she'd love that.

Mr Alan has always seen Jade as a daughter, and he has always treated her as one. Not only did Jade's commitment to her job get a place in his heart, but also how respectful she was. He always thought that Jade's parents must be happy to have a child like her.

They both made their way to the vice president's office with Jade tailing behind. Mr Alan shook his head at her scared expression.

"Go in" Mr Alan motioned her holding the door for her to go in. Jade sighed deeply before walking into the office.

"Good morning ma" Jade greeted the lady boss who was gracefully seated across her desk. Jade's eyes fell on a body which was seated opposite Mrs Tracy and she greeted, "Good morning sir."

Jade watched as that person slowly turned to face her and her eyes almost fell out of their sockets when she realized who it was.

"Good morning Mrs Peterson" Jake said throwing her a wicked smile.
