"Are you joking? By now, all three of your affinities should be at least a thousand times higher than what they were at the beginning!"

Just the first sentence that Bonger used to reply to me was enough to put me at the spot. Only after scanning through the details of my status window did I realise what he was talking about.

"Okay, I can see it now, but how about you actually tell me what those affinities are responsible for? What the use of having them higher than before?"

As interesting as affinity sounded, I already learned my lesson about trying to take the system status by logic. For example, if I were to take my stats as either linear or geometrical growth of the various aspects of my strength, then rather than being the greatest known powerhouse on this entire island, even swatting a random fly away could pose quite a huge challenge!

"Are you serious with me right now? Ehh…"

Rather than explaining everything to me right away, Bonger only shook his head with a clear notion of disappointment before casting a glance at the approaching line of several, sage level strong monsters.

"You know what, rather than explaining it to you, how about you test it yourself? Just to make it easier and safer for you, try to fight them with magic alone, rather than taking them head-on. And don't worry, I will be right behind you if you will need help, even if I doubt you will."

Just where the heck did the Bonger go… What happened to this lovely system of mine that would support me, even if most of its actions were filled with irony and mischief? What happened to him for his character to change so much, so rapidly?

Yet as much as I would love to whine about it, there were monsters I had to defeat in order to finally get rid of the last menace of the island, allowing myself to finally either leave this place altogether or at least use the peace to finally go through my visions!

"Okay then… Let's see how much those improvements of yours are worth…"

Despite not being convinced by Bonger's words at all, I didn't really have that much choice. Sooner or later, I would still have to face against those monsters. As such, doing so right now, with Bonger's declared help, would be potentially safer and easier than doing it on my own accord and completely alone!

Closing the distance to the group of the monsters was the easy part. Just by jumping forward, even without using my shockwaves to extend my airborne period, I could still easily cover the swath of empty land that separated us, yet rather than descending right at them, I actually used my shockwaves to slow down my momentum, arriving at a relatively safe distance of five hundred meters away from them.

"Okay then, let's see what I can do…"

Putting myself in a stable position, I reached forward with my hands while allowing the clear energy to freely flow through my veins before pushing it forward in the extremely familiar manner, creating nothing else but a fireball.

Yet while the fireball itself didn't seem to be any different than the ones I was creating so far after taking the growth of my powerbase into account, there was something else that instantly caught my attention.

Ever since I realised that I could push those simple spells of mine to the higher level just by using them repeatedly, I forced myself to create a habit of inspecting my mana every time I used even a single spell of mine. And just like always, whenever I would use my skill, a portion of my mana would be deducted from my status window… Yet this time, something strange happened.

Because rather than the amount of my mana decreasing by few or few tens of points, decimal fractions suddenly appeared!

"Infuse it with more energy. At your point, you don't need to worry about creating sunflare."

Completely unfazed by this strange outcome of me casting the weak fireball, Bonger came with advice, additionally creating a set of strange, useless barriers on the way between the group of monsters and me. Yet as strange as they were, all I had to do was to watch for just a slightest of the moments to realise just what their purpose was!

Seeing the beast that was leading the charge suddenly collapsing to the ground after tripping on the cleverly set, Bonger's barrier, I pushed all my attention back to my own spell, infusing more and more energy into the fireball and watching the status window… Only to realise that no matter how hard I tried, at the current rate, reaching a single point of mana cost for this spell of mine would take me about a fucking week!

Yet the fireball itself didn't seem to be influenced by this strange occurrence to my system, growing exponentially just like back when I first accidentally turned it into sunflare. In just a few short moments, I felt the same sensation on my fingertips as all the way back in the training room of the arena city, when my first fireball turned into the sunflare. Yet this time, my guts didn't scream to me, signalling the incoming danger!

Curious about this occurrence, I made sure to surround myself and Bonger alike with a thick set of multilayered shields, while continuously pumping out more and more energy into my sunflare. And just as expected, in just a few short moments, just as the total cost of this now enormous shape of fire reached two damned points of my mana, the similar sensation of my fingertips from before, appeared once again!

"Congratulations!"

"Created new class of the spells!"

"New spell class: Doomsday spell!"

"Rewarding…"

Just seeing the third line of the notification that appeared right in front of my eyes made me realise that I might have accidentally overstepped my boundaries. Worried about the potential consequences of what I just did, I didn't dare to keep infusing my former 'weak fireball' with even more energy, opting to throw it towards the approaching monsters instead.

"Oh boy… This is going to be fun!"

The last thing I heard before the fireball of mine made contact with the enemy, was Bonger's excited sentence.

Then everything was suddenly covered in blinding light.
