Chapter 287 - Evalyn And Levi

Zoey, although wanted to stay longer in the bath, couldn't as she wanted to spend more time with Cora Ma. Maybe, catch up with her because her best friend was in an accident two months after Matthew Xi had died in their previous life.

Therefore, Zoey could safely say she truly missed her best friend. Cora Ma's death gave Zoey the idea that Matthew Xi's accident wasn't just because he was not lucky enough.

After all, they died in almost the same way: a trailer truck, losing control of the brake, killing who was in the smaller car while the driver of the trailer truck was both in a desperate state for money. Hence, they could do everything — even killing people 'through accidents'.

Staring at herself through the mirror, Zoey picked up the small knife she had grabbed earlier when she headed inside the bathroom. She hovered her forefinger over the tip of the sharp knife, slowly pricking on it until it began bleeding.

Zoey winced at the slight pain, then hastily looked back in the mirror. She felt pain... and yet, she was still here.

With just that little test, Zoey came to believe that this was reality. That she truly went back in time to correct the impending future for her and the ones she cared for.

Zoey smiled and so did the reflection in the mirror. Her eyes gleamed with millions of thoughts as the corner of her eyes formed another batch of tears.

"Thank God..." She whispered, sniffing as she wiped the freely falling tears from the side of her eyes. "New life, new beginning." Zoey nodded her head, convincing herself that she would make the correct choices as per the little dumpling's reminder.

Although she wanted to run to the XI Corporation that very moment to see him, Zoey knew it was impossible. Matthew Xi didn't know her until later. Hence, Zoey decided to take her sweet time dolling up her 22-year-old self.

After a quick thirty minutes, Zoey found herself again staring in the mirror with her old clothes that she usually wore back at this age. A smile plastered across her lips, touching her cheek as she couldn't believe this was happening.

Just as Zoey was staring at her reflection, Cora Ma suddenly intruded inside her room. Upon laying her eyes on Zoey, her under eye twitched in dismay.

"Z, I know you're pretty but is this a requirement to stare at yourself this long? Don't tell me you fell in love with yourself?" Cora Ma shook her head. The way Zoey stared at herself was quite different, as if she fell in love with herself or something like that.

"Cora, I just love this lifetime." Without turning to Cora Ma's direction, Zoey muttered which caused the latter to furrow her brows.

"You talk like you lived in a different timeline." Rolling her eyes, Cora Ma sarcastically remarked as Zoey truly sounded weird.

"Cora, will you believe me if I say I time travelled?" Slowly, Zoey turned and faced Cora Ma.

"Pfft—!" Finding her words ridiculous, Cora Ma pursed her lips, resisting the urge to laugh out loud. "Yes, Z. I believe you." She replied halfheartedly just for the sake of it.

"Cora, I have a story plot in mind, wanna hear it?" Shrugging her shoulders, Zoey ignored the halfhearted response as she didn't expect that anyone would believe her.

They might even think she's crazy if she argued about it. Not that it would surprise anyone as she could be considered crazy.

"A story plot?" Arching her right brow, a glint of interest flashed across Cora Ma's eyes.

"Time traveling." Zoey smiled, winking at Cora Ma as she strode towards her. "Money, Power, and Influence, Evalyn had it all... or did she?" Stopping in front of Cora Ma, Zoey grinned.

"Huh? You already have a name?" Surprised at the opening remark, Cora Ma mused with raised brows as she nodded her head.

Zoey chuckled, shaking her head as her best friend truly liked to notice little stuff. "She wanted to go on a love venture, and decided to find her one true love in funeral parlors." Bearing a large grin, Zoey narrated which made Cora Ma chuckle.

"Pffft— Funeral parlors?" As they headed back to the office, Cora Ma found this story a romcom which was quite interesting in a way. Hence, she felt the need to listen more about this absurd idea.

"Yes!" When Zoey plopped down on the couch, she nodded her head. "Little did she know, just as she entered her car to go on her venture under the influence of alcohol, her true love was just in the backseat of her car... bleeding to death." Recalling how she met Matthew Xi eight years from now, a hint of gentleness displayed on her lips for a brief moment.

"Really, Z? This is totally a romcom." Shaking her head, Cora Ma could not help but be amused that Zoey already had an idea on which road the story would go.

"You make me envious that even in writing a story, you seem to have a hidden talent in it." Cora Ma remarked, her tone contradicted her words for enviousness. "You know, if you have this idea, you should write it. I don't think I can steal someone else's idea. I'd rather rob a bank than steal other people's stories." In a matter-of-fact tone, Cora Ma shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly.

Although she found the story interesting, Cora Ma didn't think it would be hers if Zoey already had a concrete idea about it. It might be a waste of time if Zoey wouldn't write it, but what else could Cora Ma do?

"You don't want it?" Arching her right brow, Zoey tilted her head to the side.

"No, thank you. But I would like to hear the rest of the story."

"Alright, I'll write it then." Zoey shrugged her shoulders, thinking it's not a bad idea to write everything that she could remember in her previous life. After all, it would also help her refresh what there's to remember and notice what she failed to notice or rather, chose to ignore in the previous lifetime.

"You will? Wow... I really think you're a different person." Surprised that Zoey seemed determined to write the story down, Cora Ma's eyes widened. "So, the story... the man bleeding to death in the backseat is the male lead? Does he have a name already?" Changing the subject, Cora Ma inquired where they left off.

"Hmm... Levi." Rubbing her chin, Zoey contemplated the name that she found something interesting in her previous lifetime about their names while she was bored.

"Levi, huh? Not bad. Evalyn and Levi, I see." Nodding in understanding, Cora Ma was amused that Zoey could pick 'random names', because Cora Ma often found naming her characters a little troublesome as she always looked up deep meanings behind their names.

"But his nickname will be... Browny." Proud, Zoey grinned as she didn't want to change that nickname ever.

"Hahaha! Gosh! He will be a pet, wouldn't he?" Upon hearing the ridiculous nickname, Cora Ma burst out laughing. "You'll be a sadist writer, Z." In between her waves of laughter, Cora Ma shook her head sideways.
