'Are you crazy?!' Kenneth Bai honked, turning to Zoey as he shouted internally. Zoey surely understood his simple gesture that didn't require any words for her to understand.
Zoey slightly pointed her thumb at the back, before placing her hand back on the grip handle. As instructed, Kenneth Bai glanced at his side mirror just to be dismayed at what he was seeing.
Currently, there was one mobile that was chasing them. Based on the vehicle, it was from the police! Not from those lazy patrols but the real troublemakers that implemented the traffic law!
"Fck! This crazy — which route did she come from?! Fck!" Kenneth Bai cursed through his gritted teeth, before they heard the siren from behind.
"Fck! I can't get in trouble! My father will kill me this time!" Kenneth Bai gritted his teeth even tighter as he had the urge to glare daggers at his opponent.
He gave her a side eye which irritated him even more. Why? Zoey was rather calm unlike him who was panicking! Wasn't she afraid she would get caught? After all, unlike him who could speed away from their pursuers, Zoey had low chances to get them off.
Kenneth Bai heard a voice over the microphone, along with the loud siren that was growing louder. "Sh*t!" He cursed, glancing at the mobile behind through his side mirror.
Without further ado, Kenneth Bai revved his motorcycle up as his sole focus was to lose them. If Zoey got caught, that was her lack of luck! Kenneth Bai would die tonight if he brought shame to his Bai Family.
Meanwhile, as he got further away from her, Zoey constantly glanced at the mobile that was chasing at her. If she kept this pace, they would catch up with her soon.
She couldn't go faster than this. Zoey was well-aware of her ride's capacity. She knew that she wouldn't win using this engine without any plans. Regardless, she didn't think of using other vehicles because neither was she used to any other bike nor she trusted any other except for the one she had.
At the very least, Zoey knew that her ride wasn't faster than Kenneth Bai's, but it was reliable on the reroute for shortcuts. They might call her a cheater, but no one said they couldn't use other routes.
The map was the only guide for safe racing. Needless to say, Zoey wasn't cheating but it could be considered as improvising.
"Oh, he's far now..." Zoey thought internally, seeing that she had lagged behind Kenneth Bai again.
"I haven't done this in a while..." She muttered, glancing at the mobile through the side mirror before Zoey switched lanes.
Since the highway road was wide, it was easy for Zoey to switch lanes using her motorcycle. Moreover, since it was past midnight, there were less vehicles.
Zoey continued with her speed, switching lanes from left to right then right to left. Loud honks resonated in the air as some vehicles nearly got scraped by the speeding motorcycle. Thus, to keep it safe, other drivers had to slow down and stay on the last lane of each side.
Soon, Zoey had reached the end of the highway road, with the special patrol mobile still behind her, speaking through the microphone. If one didn't know any better, they would think that Zoey's violation was graver than traffic rules.
Up ahead, there was another traffic light. Unlike the highway road, it was more crowded with people even walking on the sidewalks. Zoey glanced at the green light until it turned to yellow and then red.
Zoey didn't have the time to stop as the cars started moving, blocking the road ahead. Yet, despite the risk, Zoey just narrowed her eyes as her speed didn't decelerate at all.
"Plate number xxx..." From behind, the mobile that was pursuing her once again reached her ears. They slowed down, thinking she would too because there's no way to cross the road while the cars were passing.
"Sorry, I can't get caught tonight." Zoey whispered, her eyes glinted with solid determination as her jaw tightened.
Without further ado, Zoey drifted in the middle of the intersection, going to the left almost bumping into a car. Fortunately, there was a safe distance between the car Zoey nearly collided with and the one behind it.
"Holy..." Some bystander whose attention was caught by the speeding motorcycle could not help but swear in awe. Others even squealed as they thought they were about to witness an accident.
After all, Zoey's knee scratched the concrete ground, as the smoke from the tires and the engine clouded the air around the rider. For some reason, everyone thought the rider was cool — even the patrol that was pursuing Zoey stopped in their tracks, before they snapped back to reality to ask for back up while detailing where she was headed.
****
Zoey didn't reduce her speed even for a single second. Although there was no one that was chasing her, she continued with the same pace as she needed to catch up with him.
Therefore, Zoey did another reroute as her mind calculated the location of Kenneth Bai right now. It's been a few minutes and if Kenneth Bai followed the map, he would soon reach the finish line if he kept the same speed.
'Damn it!' Zoey gritted her teeth as she made a turn into an alley. Since she reviewed the place during the preparation time, Zoey had refreshed her memory quite well.
If she didn't meet any trouble, she could still catch up to him. Hopefully, she could. However, just as Zoey exited the alley, two speeding motorcycles drove past her.
At first, Zoey ignored them. Alas, as she stared ahead, she saw that both of them slowed down by the red back lights. 'Ahh...' Zoey muttered internally, understanding the situation.
"Just as I thought..." she murmured, slowing down purposely before she drifted for a u-turn. "I stopped racing a long time in this lifetime so they never got the chance." Zoey added, driving at the opposite direction of her supposed route.
"Come, follow me idiots.." Zoey smirked, setting aside the race as this bore more importance than the prize of this race.
