Chapter 303 - Didn’t See That Coming

Meanwhile, Kenneth Bai heaved a sigh of relief as the pursuers behind were gone — Zoey was also out of his vicinity. He kept driving at the same speed until he could see the finish line ahead.

Kenneth Bai squinted his eyes, people were cheering for his secured victory because he was the only that could be seen. For some reason, he slowed down as his mind wondered if Zoey was caught or not.

Each passing second meant closer to victory. Alas, his mind wandered somewhere else as his opponent wasn't ahead or behind him. Zoey was not there at all!

'Sh*t! Did she get caught?!' Kenneth Bai ground his teeth, his grip on the handle shaking. Part of his mind knew he needed to secure this victory, but the other half was too distracted to celebrate this win. If anything, his anxiousness grew stronger.

"F*ck this sh*t!" When he was a fifty meters away from the finish line, Kenneth Bai clenched his teeth hard and drifted — doing u-turn

The tired screeched, causing black lines on the concrete ground. The audience who were watching him from the distance suddenly stopped cheering as they knitted their brows together.

When he started driving away from the finish line, the confused crowd could not help but murmur.

"Huh? What's happening? Why is he going back?"

"Did the other one got in trouble?"

"Hey! Tell us what's happening?" The same question resonated across the crowd and Rem could not give a clear answer.

Rem received a report when Kenneth Bai passed through the last point, but not Zoey. Thus, he was worried about his money which he had betted on Zoey. Other than that, he lacked information about what happened along the road.

"Lu, what's happening? Why is Ken going back? Do you think something bad happened?" Enzo Li elbowed Lucas Xi, watching Kenneth Bai speed away from the finish line.

Utter worry plastered across his face, his heart pounded in worry. Enzo Li could not help but tighten his fist, before he decided to follow suit as he was worried at the things they were unclear about.

However, just as Enzo Li took a step away, Matthew Xi brushed passed him while placing his phone inside his suit pocket. Kenneth Bai glanced at his cousin's broad back as he made his way to the spare motorcycle Kenneth Bai brought for Zoey — which she refused to use.

Without further ado, Matthew Xi hopped on the motorbike, wore the only safety gear he could which was the helmet, and revved it up. "Big bro..." Enzo Li murmured, at the same time, Matthew Xi didn't waste a second as he sped away while the car he used followed suit.

"Damn it!" Instinctively, Enzo Li clenched his hand as he rushed to his own sports car. He knew something happened. Matthew Xi's enraged expression was enough for Enzo Li to know that.

"Hey! Where are you going? Wait for me!" Confused as hell, Lucas Xi snapped from his trance as he followed Enzo Li's hurried steps. Out of instinct, Lucas Xi hopped inside the passenger seat while Enzo Li went inside the driver's seat.

"Hey," Just as Lucas Xi tried to get some answer from the usually confident cousin, Enzo Li started the engine and sped away. Since he knew the map of the race, Enzo Li could just follow them.

If something happened and Zoey had to change route, Enzo Li could just follow Matthew Xi's tracks. After all, Enzo Li's sports car's horsepower could make him catch up to the man. Perhaps, even Kenneth Bai.

As Matthew Xi left and Enzo Li followed suit, Rem finally snapped out from his puzzlement. "Hey, check what happened on the road!" Rem shouted, snapping at a few of his friends before jogging towards his own bike to join the party.

With that being said, Rem and a few of his crew revved their motorcycle and sped away. The ones that were left on the finish line could not help but look at each other in confusion.

Zoey, who was clueless that many guys were worried to find her, kept heading farther from the area. She constantly glanced at the rear mirror, seeing that the two riders that drove past her were now driving behind her.

Although Zoey didn't reduce her speed, the two riders caught up with her eventually; one on her right while the other on the left. Still, Zoey remained calm despite any possible dangers that might come any minute.

She studied their behavior through her peripheral vision. Upon noticing that one man loosened his one hand off the handle grip, Zoey abruptly applied the brakes so the two riders went ahead of her.

Fortunately, there was no car behind her, else she would have been in a major accident. Well, Zoey wouldn't do that in the first place if she knew there was a car behind her.

'Are they trying to kill me?' Zoey wondered internally. Her mind instinctively thought that the person was pulling out a weapon of some sort.

Regardless of whatever it was, Zoey wanted to be careful and act ahead of them. After all, she wasn't carrying any weapons with her and couldn't retaliate.

Although she knew she was being watched, that's all she knew. Who would have thought that they would do something reckless like killing her on the road?

Now, Zoey wondered if she hadn't stopped these kinds of activities in her previous life, would the people that were after her take advantage of this golden opportunity to silence her?

Still, that didn't make any sense at all. After all, Zoey could remember everything that the man had told her before she ended her life in her previous lifetime. His desires wouldn't be fulfilled if he silenced her now.

Why? Because at this moment, no one thought that she had something to lose. Even if she dies now, everyone would think she has nothing to lose. So... who were these people?

Zoey stared ahead, and saw the two riders' backlight turning red as they reduced speed. She narrowed her eyes and noticed the white handkerchief which made her sigh deeply.

"Didn't see that coming..." Zoey murmured, following the two riders as they turned right.. This time, although Zoey had her guess on who they were, she didn't let her guard down.
