While Zoey kept bragging on and on until the crowds began to express their disdain, Zoey's eyes twitched. Ahead of her, Kenneth Bai rushed towards them, the speed of his wheels caused dust behind him.
Not a minute later, Zoey saw another motorcycle that was the same model as Kenneth Bai's ride. Unlike the fully-geared Kenneth Bai, the other person was in a suit. It was not hard to guess that it was her baby darling.
Accelerating with the same speed, a red sports car didn't lag behind. Although Zoey admired how cool Matthew Xi looked riding a motorcycle for the first time, she couldn't help but feel distracted by how large the number of people following them from behind was.
Rem and his friends were also headed their way, as if they were the one racing for the finish line. If they didn't know any better, Zoey would think she should be cheering for this unofficial race.
"Sis, are they your men secretly?" Ivan inquired, his under eye twitching because of the large numbers of motorcycles speeding towards them. "I think we should step aside." He added, calculating the speed of the 'racers' who wouldn't be able to have a full brake until the finish line.
Currently, Zoey had parked her motorcycle on the finish line. For what? To brag of her victory, of course. However, standing here wasn't safe, especially if Kenneth Bai and Matthew Xi didn't decelerate.
Rem and his friends, and also the sports car had reduced their speed. Yet, the two weren't stopping a bit. It was as if this race was meant for Kenneth Bai and Matthew Xi.
"Nah, I'm the goal here! Why would the trophy step aside?" Zoey heartily laughed, joking that they shouldn't move an inch just to show her proof that she won.
Little did she know that she shouldn't speak such reckless words because she didn't know what these men had inside their head at the moment. As Zoey laughed, Ivan glanced at Kenneth Bai and Matthew Xi and ground his teeth.
"Sis," He muttered, his tone was alarming as the two were near yet their speed remained the same.
"What?!" Despite seeing the speed of the two ahead, Zoey just frowned as she glared at Ivan who showed his worry about what's ahead of them. "If you're scared, go to the side! No one would dare break the trophy!" She said proudly, raising her chin as she was confident that her darling wouldn't hurt her.
Moreover, the road was wide — the line of the starting point that was also the finish line was wide as well! Why would they go straight towards where she was standing — which was, by the way, the middle of the line — if they could use the free space on the side?
"I mean, look..." Slowly, Zoey faced the two speeding motorcycles in front of her before her words trailed off. She narrowed her eyes and studied the abnormal speed of Kenneth Bai.
She didn't notice it earlier, but now that she put her hundred percent focus, Matthew Xi wasn't racing with Kenneth Bai. He was trying to catch up on him while attempting to keep a close distance.
"Sh*t!" Zoey shouted, dragging Ivan to the side like the Flash.
In a fraction of several seconds, the two speeding cars drove past the line but didn't stop. "I knew it!" Zoey shouted, following the two that drove past them by her gaze.
Zoey panicked, her mind immediately processed in the top speed as she came up with the current problem and dilemma. She prompted up, waving her hand to the sports car that approached the finish line at a slightly slower speed.
When Enzo Li stopped, Zoey ran towards him. "Get out!" Zoey shouted, knocking on the window continuously.
"Wait —!" When Enzo Li opened the door, Zoey grabbed him by the shoulder as she pulled him out. "Ivan, come! You, Lawyer of the year, get out!" Zoey retained her high tone while looking at the passenger seat where Lucas Xi perched.
"Now!" Zoey agitatedly ground her teeth while her eyes widened. Seeing how frenzied Zoey was, Lucas Xi unconsciously hastened to take off his seatbelt and rushed outside the car.
Meanwhile, Ivan jogged towards the front passenger seat. There were no words exchanged between them, but both Zoey and Ivan had understood what's going on.
Kenneth Bai's motorcycle had a system malfunction. No one knew how and why, but that didn't matter at the moment. Kenneth Bai wouldn't be able to slow his speed and needed to keep the same speed without crashing!
"This is why they say never lie to your ride." As Zoey perched on the driver's seat, she immediately buckled her seat while Ivan only found his comfortable position.
"Right..." He muttered, glancing at Zoey as she gripped on the steering wheel before pressing on the pedal.
Ivan witnessed the glint that flickered across Zoey's eyes. For some reason, it bore utter worry and concern, as if that brief second, she did a sincere prayer to keep him safe.
The question was: who? Who was she concerned about? Kenneth Bai? Ivan didn't know, but that question would be entertained later.
Soon, Zoey sped away and followed the tracks of the two. She knew Matthew Xi and Kenneth Bai, and she was certain Kenneth Bai could maintain his speed without crashing... that was if his motorcycle wouldn't blow up!
"Ivan, buckle your seat." Without casting Ivan a glance, Zoey reminded me as this ride wouldn't be any friendly road trip.
After all, Zoey was more concerned about Matthew Xi. He didn't have any safety gears and knowing him, he would take the risk of lessening Kenneth Bai's impending injuries if they were pushed to the edge.
Zoey might kill Kenneth Bai if something happened to her darling. God forbid... she wouldn't even forgive herself because he went to find her because they thought she was caught.
Meanwhile, as Zoey drove the sports car, and they could still hear the tires screeching, Enzo Li and Lucas Xi were left dumbfounded. They received an order from Matthew Xi to let Zoey drive the car and ask her to follow them.
However, they didn't need to fill her in because she already knew the problem. "Enzo, contact the Bai Family and ask them to give an order to close off more roads if they want their son alive tonight." Lucas Xi muttered, snapping him from his stupor as they knew the situation was more dire for Kenneth Bai now.
"Nevermind, I'll do it. Contact Assistant Qian instead and tell him to give an order for an information lockdown." Lucas Xi shook his head as he changed his mind. With the current situation, Matthew Xi's priorities weren't about this problem leaking, it was Kenneth Bai's safety.
Hence, as a reliable cousin, Lucas Xi and Enzo Li would have to do the big problems they would worry about later if not handled now.. With that being said, Enzo Li and Lucas Xi seemed to transform into different people as they took charge of the other matters.
