Soon, Zoey and Matthew arrived at their destination. It only took them another twenty minutes before they landed in a wide garden where a helicopter could fit. Stood before them was a huge mansion — too huge that Zoey couldn't believe it was standing right on the city's border.
Obviously, although Zoey didn't know the exact address, she knew they were at the border of the city. To be exact, the other side of the city where they had hitched inside the chopper — it was a coast to coast ride.
"Let's go?" Matthew extended his palm towards her, spreading it open for her to accept.
Zoey gazed down at his hand before she slowly looked up. "You know I'm hesitating to go inside." She muttered, speaking her mind aloud before she turned her head as her eyes scanned their surroundings.
There were a few people around. Some were in uniform suits while others were in casual shirts and pants. If Matthew hadn't mentioned that it was his place, Zoey would assume it was a boot camp or something of that sort.
'To be honest, this reminds me of the Silva Family residence.' She thought internally, recalling how the mansion of the Silva Family was like.
Since the said family was considered as a large one, there were men around the entire mansion. Thus, it would make it harder for anyone to infiltrate their base as there were literally eyes everywhere.
Matthew didn't respond immediately and stared at her side profile. By the looks of it, she was studying the entire vicinity cautiously, memorizing the layout of the place from the outside. "We don't need to go inside then." The side of his lips hooked upward, shrugging his shoulders as he shoved his hands inside his pocket,
"Huh?" Her brows knitted, beaming his side profile a suspicious look as her eyes narrowed.
"Come with me," Without further ado, Matthew commanded after he gave her a side eye. He then began walking towards the side while Zoey remained rooted to the ground. Don't hesitate. You won't get away anyway, even if you wanted to." In a matter-of-fact tone, Matthew spoke once again. He didn't even glance back as he said so.
"Geez… this guy… he doesn't even know I infiltrated Inigo's base and managed to come close to him. Don't underestimate your wife." As she watched him walk away, Zoey whispered.
She shook her head sideways, sighing heavily before she took a step forward. "Hey, wait for me!" She yelled, jogging to catch up to him.
"Where are we going?" When she caught up to his side, Zoey perked her head up, looking at his side profile while walking.
"To the other side." Matthew gave her a side eye, walking towards the corridor that was outside the mansion. "This way will lead us to the other side without going inside. Was that reassuring enough for you?" He asked, his tone enveloped with sarcasm.
"Ah, yeah?" Zoey had discerned the sarcasm in his tone, but she couldn't really care less. Still, she was curious. "Your house is standing in the center of a big lot, huh?" Zoey hinted, visualizing the place in her mind.
In her perspective, if there was a way of going to the other side of the mansion through this way, then it's only plausible that the house stood in the middle of the entire lot. The garden they came from had some kind of forest further aside from the wide garden itself where the helipad for the chopper was built in..
Therefore, Zoey was curious about what laid on the other side of the mansion. Zoey's curiosity slowly reached its peak with every step they took.
"I don't like cramped places." Matthew kept his head straight ahead, walking slowly while Zoey was akin to a curious cat whose eyes kept wandering around.
"Yet, you kept on appearing in my building." Out of habit, Zoet spouted through a murmur. She only realized what she said after it was spoken. Thus, she immediately pursed her lips into a thin line while cautiously studied his side profile.
Fortunately, Matthew was neither affected nor stopped in his tracks to confront her about it. Instead, his steps didn't falter as he kept his gaze ahead of them bearing his unchangeable front.
"And, why is that?" He glanced at her, arching his right brow.
"Because…" Zoey paused, fiddling with her fingers as she pondered of other possible reasons that could divert from her initial guess.
Since the first twenty seconds of her silence felt too long for him, Matthew finally stopped in his tracks. Slowly, he turned to face her, who instinctively looked up and stopped in her steps. "Because I like you." Without further ado, Matthew continued her unfinished sentence.
Zoey gulped, staring at his determined and enthralling pair of russet eyes. "Miss Zhou, I wouldn't waste my time, nor will I endure going to a place that wasn't to my liking." He paused, his gaze never left hers as he expressed his thoughts aloud.
"Am I making myself clear?" He queried, sounding more as a professor teaching his naughty student who seemed to not understand his lessons.
"Uh…" Zoey was rendered speechless, chuckling awkwardly as she didn't know how to react at this very moment.
"I told you beforehand, I will let you see the difference between me and your husband. Also, how that character Levi is filled with plot holes." In a matter-of-fact tone, Matthew uttered. He stared at her for a minute before he turned and continued to walk ahead.
Meanwhile, Zoey watched his broad back as he walked further away from her. "Yeah, I already can see the huge difference." She whispered, sighing heavily as she shook her head sideway.
"Hey, wait for me! Don't treat your guest like this!" After a second, Zoey jogged to catch up to him, yelling her complaints as Matthew had a seasonal gentleman personality which only came out whenever he felt like it.
Soon, they finally reached the end of the open corridor leading to the other side of the mansion. What welcomed her made her jaw drop as her eyes widened in disbelief. "Bloody hell…" Zoey muttered, seeing a wide target shooting, training grounds, and an army of men filling this entire side.
