"You will need energy for your concert." Ivan smirked, glancing at the energy drink. "Here, let me open it for you." Without further ado, Ivan opened the can of energy drink for him and immediately put it in front of the man.
"You will really need it." Ivan said as the man just cast him a disdainful look in return to his kind gesture. "Don't tell me I didn't warn you." He shrugged, turning his head to the direction of the entrance as it opened.
There, Matthew entered the premises with Carter, Paul, and a few of his men. "Wow…" Ivan whistled in awe as he couldn't deny the majesty of his entrance.
Matthew's eyes scanned the room briefly before walking inside. His countenance spoke nothing but his demeanor was intimidating. In Ivan's opinion, Matthew's aura was different from Inigo. Although they were more or less the same in their territory, one would fear Nikolai knowing what he was capable of.
On the other hand, Ivan was unsure what Matthew was capable of. After meeting his incompetent men, he wasn't expecting much. However, despite that impression, Ivan couldn't underestimate him not because he was Matthew Xi, but because he didn't truly know the man.
"Huh… you think that that man could make me speak?" As Matthew approached, the man scoffed in mockery as he shook his head sideways. "Even if he kills me and feeds me to his cat, you'll get nothing from me." The man added, raising his pair of malicious eyes at Matthew, who stopped in his tracks upon reaching the side of the table.
"Master," Ryan immediately stood up from his seat, bowing his head as he stepped to the side.
Matthew raised his eyebrow upon hearing the man's last remarks. "You people know a lot." He uttered, his voice immediately enveloped the entire warehouse with piercing coldness.
"Man, how did it get cold all of a sudden?" Ivan rubbed his shoulders lightly, shivering as he never saw Matthew be this cold before.
"What are you doing here?" Just as Ivan muttered his comment, Matthew ignored the man and asked him instead. "Where is she?" He asked, not mentioning Zoey's name as it wasn't needed because Ivan would surely know who he was looking for.
"I don't really know. On her way, I guess." Still, despite the strong, thick air surrounding Matthew, Ivan remained calm and playful as he shrugged his shoulders indifferently. "I'm the one who caught him, so don't make me leave." He added, guessing that Matthew would order him out as he wasn't a 'part' of it.
Well, Ivan wanted to see more of how they move. He wouldn't satiate his curiosity about how they would be able to make this person talk if he wasn't there to witness it.
Indeed, it might be sick of him to have such ideas. However, Ivan knew that Zoey wasn't playing around and wanted to linger around Matthew. For whatever reason why she was overly protective of Matthew, Ivan couldn't just let it be.
He wanted reassurance that this man was capable of protecting her as well. Be it today or some other time, Ivan would need constant reassurance that Zoey would remain safe with Matthew by her side.
"I won't." Matthew answered, retrieving his eyes away from Ivan. Slowly, he dragged the wooden chair on which Ryan was perched upon earlier and plopped down on it. "So you caught him by neglecting my orders, huh?" Without looking away from the man, Matthew muttered, linking his hands together.
'Young Master," Upon hearing their boss's last remarks, Ryan's back stiffened as he called out.
"Let's talk about it later." However, before they could start explaining, Matthew spoke that halted whatever explanation the two had prepared. "So, you wanted my head, huh?"
"Heh… not me." The man chuckled, shaking his head as he shrugged his shoulder. "But if you're going to ask me 'who', you'll never know." He teased, the side of his lips grew wider into a grin.
"I see…" Matthew just nodded his head calmly, placing his palm on the surface of the table and assisted himself up. "That's nice of you." When he got back to his feet, Matthew gave him a nod as his eyelashes fluttered ever so slowly.
"I hate when people waste my time." Matthew relayed his thoughts, glancing at Paul who was standing not far away. "Make sure to clean the place after." Without further ado, Matthew began walking away as he gave his green signal sooner than Ivan expected.
"Wait, wait, hold on!" Just as Matthew took a first step away, Ivan raised his hand as he stopped him and others who already raised their gun at the man. "Why are you not interrogating him?!" He gasped, peering at Matthew from head to toe as the latter turned around.
"He wouldn't speak even if we do that." In a matter-of-fact tone, Matthew answered nonchalantly. "If you were in his position, would you?" He tilted his head to the side, waiting for Ivan to understand why he didn't want to waste his time for nothing.
"Tell her the business here is over. So, don't bother coming here." Since Ivan remained silent, Matthew didn't wait for his response as his silence was enough as an answer. "Let's go." He glanced at Ryan and Carter before resuming in his tracks.
The man who remained holding their guns at the man remained unmoving, waiting for Matthew to leave before executing the order. However, just as Matthew took three steps, the entrance opened once again.
There, Zoey was walking inside with Angelo behind her. Her steps were unfaltering and quick as her eyes only glanced at Matthew who stopped in his tracks. "Oh sh*t… Man, now you really need that energy drink." Upon seeing that Zoey arrived sooner than expected, Ivan turned to the man and reminded him about the energy drink.
"You didn't have to…" Matthew's words trailed off as Zoey walked past by him. He turned around, following her figure and his brows furrowed as she snatched the knife on Carter's waist.
Without further ado, Zoey held onto the man's wrist and without batting an eye, she stabbed the back of the man's hand, pinning it on the wooden table that was instantly followed by a scream. It happened so fast that everyone could only watch in disbelief.
"You have ten seconds to answer my question…" Zoey's eyes glinted as she slowly turned her head to face the agonizing man. "Where is he?"
