Chapter 531 - Because… I Don’t Care

Matthew stared at Ivan's expression that was plastered with disbelief. He knew the risk of letting the two know who was their 'boss' and their identity in the said family.

However, Matthew figured that he needed this risk to tame the beast who went by the name of Ivan. Ivan had been underestimating Matthew. Matthew wouldn't mind, but considering Ivan could never entrust Zoey's safety to him with that mentality, Matthew should do something about it.

"What are you saying?" When Ivan finally recovered from the shock, he asked. His lower lips trembled as he forced himself to speak.

Ivan and Zoey didn't see that coming. They didn't expect Matthew to mention Nikolai's name or figure their connection with him.

Why? Because even the most advanced technology would have a hard time figuring out their connection with the Silva Family. Nikolai wouldn't leave a trace of his connection to his trusted men in case of an emergency.

"What I'm saying is, I can take everyone down without breaking out a sweat." Matthew shrugged as he plopped down on the couch while the two watched him in shock. "If you want to hear more, you should close the door."

Matthew added as he glanced at Ivan's figure languidly and then shifted it to Zoey. The two didn't move for a moment until Zoey did the honor of closing the door to avoid someone eavesdropping.

Shortly, Zoey perched on the head seat while Ivan leaned on the window not far away from them.

"You should start speaking now."

Ivan ordered as he crossed his arms on his chest. He wouldn't let Matthew get away easily without squeezing all information of the extent of the latter's knowledge.

"Careful. Whatever you say can cost you your life." Ivan threatened as his eyes sharpened while peering at Matthew's relaxed figure.

Meanwhile, Zoey remained silent as she stared at Matthew's side profile. She pursed her lips in a thin line and swallowed a mouthful of saliva.

In their previous life, Matthew didn't know Nikolai until seven years later. So, how could he know now if the Silva Family was still reigning in some other continent of the world?

The Xi Family were wealthy and influential. However, the Silva Family were on a higher caliber; not in terms of money, though. But in other aspects, they were far more powerful than Matthew's current standing.

"Cost me my life?" Matthew repeated before a faint chuckle slipped past his lips. "You know what they say? A dead man tells no tales."

In a matter-of-fact tone, Matthew added as he raised his head towards Ivan's position. The side of his lips curled into a subtle smile as he retained his calm demeanor.

"You should thank your sister for saving your life. If you successfully assaulted me, I can't guarantee your safety." Matthew paused as his gaze moved past Ivan's figure and stared at the window behind him.

"In my Xi Family, there are more important and higher positions than the squad captains. In other words, the squad captains you have met so far weren't the people who were tasked to secure my safety. They were only with me to learn a thing or two before they could grow into remarkable men."

Matthew explained as he didn't avert his eyes away from Ivan. He could feel Zoey's intent gaze but Matthew's aim was Ivan's attention because Zoey was far more sensible in taking in new information.

"You mean you have more men that are lying in the shadows?"

"You can say that. The hierarchy of my small family is not that complicated. Just like your Silva Family; there's a head and different parts for the entire family to move. You can consider the squad captains as part of my limbs while my soldier as my feet." Matthew didn't plan on hiding the simple picture of how the real militia of his XI Family had gathered from the two of them.

Although it was a secret to most of the people, the squad captains and Paul knew the real structure of the family. Thus, even if Matthew went off on his own, it was very unlikely he would die just like that.

Even if Matthew was kidnapped and his life would be put in danger, his enemies would drop dead even before they could take Matthew's life. Those people's mission was to keep Matthew alive and if they failed, the second order that only them and Matthew knew would be executed without fail.

"Obviously, that wasn't enough for an organization to move. Have you ever wondered where the rest of the other important parts of it are? Above the squad captains, I have a few executives who are just around the corner." Matthew paused once again as he pointed to the window behind Ivan.

Instinctively, Ivan and Zoey turned their head to the direction Matthew pointed at. Both stared at it silently until Ivan saw his own reflection in the mirror.

There, he saw the red dot light on his forehead which caused his eyes to widen. Zoey, on the other hand, had glimpsed the red dot light that was standing out from the mirror.

"Their job is to safeguard my safety but ever since I woke up, they received another order." When Matthew was satisfied with their expression that told him they were quick to catch up to where he was getting on, he continued.

"That's right. I split them in half: some to watch my back and the rest was for your sister's safety…" Matthew's words trailed off as he blinked his eyes and smirked. "And to shoot anyone who wants to covet her from me. I don't distrust Zoey, though. She's just too pretty and attracts bees and butterflies everywhere."

Matthew humored as if what he was telling was some kind of light discussion. He then moved his gaze to Zoey who was staring at him blankly as she was blinking her eyes while processing everything in one go.

"Shut up," After a while, Ivan ground his teeth as he cast Matthew a deadly glare. "I don't care if you have more people working under you! Have you always known Niko and our connection with him?!"

Ivan balled his hand into a fist as he ignored the sniper's light that was on the back of his head. Matthew had been beating around the bush, but didn't explain how he knew about Nikolai. That's what Ivan wanted to know and not about his small militia forces!

Yet, Matthew remained silent for a minute and stared at the enraged Ivan. "You can say that."

"Then, why did you let us all in your territory? Why didn't you say a word to my sister? What do you want from us?!" Upon hearing Matthew's vague answer, Ivan berated him with a series of questions as it didn't make sense to him.

"Because… I don't care."
