Chapter 601 - Sixth Commandment XIV

Two weeks had passed since Sarah told Zach about her pregnancy. Since then, Zach had begun caring for her more than he ever did throughout their marriage.

He would constantly update her, would free his time for her, and often stayed overnight in their place. Sarah was in bliss.

Although she was curious how Beth could let that happen, Sarah didn't have the guts to ask or mention her. She didn't want to ruin the atmosphere. Moreover, why would she need to?

Sarah was the legal wife while Beth was the one who attempted to ruin her marriage. If this went on, Sarah wouldn't mind adopting Zach's child from Beth.

"Hey, hey!" Sarah snapped back from her thoughts upon hearing Zach's voice behind her.

Slowly, she turned her head around, beaming him a smile upon laying her eyes on him. Zach approached her, snatching the plates she was setting up on the table to help her.

"I told you to let the maids do these things. You shouldn't exhaust yourself, love." A little upset yet sounding worried, Zach shook his head as he put down the plates on the table.

"You should be resting."

He added, sighing heavily. Sarah could not help but smile as she appreciated him more whenever he was a little frustrated because he cared. At the very least, she knew he cared for her.

"You're overreacting, Zach. I'm just setting up the table. Also, the doctors said the baby and I are healthy. Doing this is fine." In a matter-of-fact tone, Sarah grinned as she snaked her arms around his neck.

"You came home early."

She added, staring directly to his pair of eyes. Although Zach had been spending more time with her, this is the first time that he came home early. The dinner hadn't been served yet. Not that she was mad about it, she was just curious.

"Of course," Zach smiled, placing his forehead against hers. "Because from today onwards, I won't be busy anymore. I need to take care of my wife, isn't it?"

Sarah was utterly moved upon hearing those genuine words. She knew those words came from deep in his heart and it made her happy. This was the love she wanted and fought for.

It took a lot from her, but it made her feel everything was worth it. She could forget everything that happened in the past and start anew.

"Right, the dinner should be done. Let me go and check on it." After a while, Sarah pushed him back gently as she recalled that the dinner should be done by now.

"No, Sarah." However, Zach shook his head and assisted her to sit down. "I'll go get it, okay? You stay here and let me do it."

He proposed with a subtle smile on his lips. "But, you're --"

Before she could argue, Zach stopped her as he shook his head sideways. His lips stretched into a thin smile.

"No. Just let me help tonight, alright? Just stay here." Zach said adamantly as he stared at her directly.

Since he was firm about helping the servants, Sarah could only chuckle and nod in agreement. With that being said, Zach helped the maids serve the dinner while Sarah stayed in her seat and watched him lovingly.

If one didn't know everything, they would think it was a perfect marriage from two in love people.

Three weeks later…

By this time, Sarah was near 2 months pregnant. The past month had been a rollercoaster ride with Zach. Still, her heart was happy.

She was happy with her life with Zach. After all, Zach was practically staying with her and never once they ever talked about Beth.

It was as if she never existed, like a passing nightmare they both had forgotten. Sarah, as usual, didn't ask about Zach and the child inside Beth's. What mattered to her was her happiness and their child together.

"Jean, is everything ready?" Upon reaching the kitchen, Sarah knocked on the entrance of the kitchen and leaned her side.

"Yes, Madam." Jean slowly turned around and slightly bowed. "The master's lunch is ready."

Jean confirmed as she picked up the lunch box she prepared under the request of Sarah. Since Jean and everyone received a strict order from Zach not to let Sarah do chores, they did everything and refused any help from the madam.

"The driver is also ready. We will surely bring Master's lunch…"

"No, I'll come!" Before Jean could finish her sentence, Sarah interrupted midway as she energetically proposed.

"But, Madam,"

"Jean, it's not that I'll drive. I'll just tag along!" Sarah rolled her eyes as Jean had become stricter with each passing day. "I want to surprise Zach. The doctor said I'm fine with short travels. Also, I've been stuck here forever. I want to go out even for awhile!"

Sarah exclaimed in distress, pouting as she skipped a step towards Jean. "come on," She muttered, poking Jean's shoulder like a little girl who was earning cute points to get her permission.

Jean stared at her boss for a long time and sighed. How could she refuse her boss if she was acting like this?

It's been awhile since Jean had seen Sarah be the Sarah that Jean knew from long ago. Her boss was humble and kind. Sarah's growing relationship with Zach had brought back the bright and bubbly young lady in her boss.

"Madam, Master will get mad for sure."

"I won't let him scold you." Sarah playfully giggled as she snatched the paper bag containing lunch boxes for her husband.

"I'll see you later~!" Sarah skipped her steps a few times before Jean reminded her about her condition. Thus, she took it slowly and trudged with caution.

It was her first time surprising Zach in a long time. She could see him being mad, but at the same time, she knew Zach would forgive her. She was just being thoughtful as his wife, after all.

Soon, Sarah arrived at Zach's workplace. She told the driver that she didn't need assistance as she wanted to spend the entire afternoon break with him.

'I wonder what he is doing?' Sarah giggled as she thought of Zach's surprise face upon seeing her.

That put her in a good mood. Soon, she reached Zach's office as she stood in front of the door with a smile.

When Sarah was about to knock the door, she stopped midways upon hearing voices inside. 'He's still working?' She wondered internally.

If Zach was being held up by something important, Sarah didn't want to disturb him. Yet, something compelled her to lean her ear against the door which she wouldn't usually do.

"Zach, I know you only want her money. But, you can at least visit me?"

As soon as Sarah leaned her ear against the door, she heard a familiar voice of a woman: Beth. But, that wasn't what surprised Sarah as she was stuck on the remarks she had just heard, ringing repeatedly inside her head.

"Only want my money…?" Sarah whispered as her entire body shivered.
