One month had passed since Sarah overheard Beth and Zach's conversation. Still that night, Sarah acted almost the same with Zach. However, she couldn't fake her happiness or how lively she was before.
She's been stuck in a loop of misery. However, she couldn't unlove someone she had invested her time, heart, and everything to. Also, even though sometimes she had considered walking away from all of this, she couldn't.
How about her child? She wanted a complete family for her child even if she was not happy anymore. If she could pretend all her life, she would do it for the baby inside her womb.
"You seem stressed, love." Sarah glanced up to the head seat where Zach was perched. It was dinner time and Zach had come home looking a little devastated.
"It's just work." Zach shrugged, using the overused excuse she fell for repeatedly but not now.
"I see…" Sarah nodded, forking out a piece of vegetable on and didn't ask further like usual.
Zach glanced at her and sighed. Although Sarah didn't change much, he couldn't help but notice the slightest change.
"Sarah, do you have any problems?" After a minute, Zach finally asked her for the first time.
Sarah had been asking her about her day and often told him about everything. She noticed even the smallest thing while it was his first time asking her such normal questions.
"Hmm?"
"I've noticed that you seem a little… different." Zach raised his brows as he stared at her. He wanted to say that she seemed a little sad, but changed it to be more vague.
"Huh? How so?" She asked, feigning innocent as she knew she changed. Zach and Beth changed her.
"I mean, you seem tired and…"
"Hormones." Before he could finish his sentence, Sarah answered, cutting him off midway. "I'm about to enter my second trimester. It is probably because of my condition."
Sarah sported a smile on her face. Zach nodded in understanding as it was normal. Beth was the same -- worse, even.
"I see."
"Anyway, I'll go rest first. You still have to go back to your office, right?" Changing the topic, Sarah retained her smile and asked.
"Mhmm,"
"I see." She nodded. "Don't exert yourself too much. I won't wait for you because the doctor advised me not to stay late at night."
In a matter-of-fact tone, Sarah informed me as if she hadn't been doing that for the past month. Still, her acting had been perfect for Zach was blind to notice anything about her. All he cared for was himself, no one else.
If things went south with Beth, Zach would come to her. That fact was finally clear to Sarah. A little late for her to see it, but at the very least, she finally understood her position in his heart.
But, she didn't care what he thought of her. Because, Sarah was determined to put Beth and Zach to their rightful place. If being nice was not effective, then, she wouldn't mind being the villain to protect the family of her child.

Soon, Zach bid her farewell with the reason he needed to come back to the office. He said he only came back because he didn't want Sarah to eat alone. Sarah would be in bliss if she didn't know the truth.
From the balcony of her room, Sarah watched Zach's car exit the mansion's driveway. Her eyes glinted as the side of her lips curled into a smirk.
"Enjoy the show, Zach." Sarah whispered along with a scoff before she turned around and went back to bed.

As usual, Zach lied. Work wasn't his destination; it was Beth's new place he rented out for her. Since he said he broke up with her, Zach had to move her to a safe place where they could meet secretly.
'Good thing Sarah doesn't ask much.' He thought internally he stopped in front of a villa.
Since his divorce with Sarah didn't proceed, Zach had slowly regained his comfort in life. Hence, he could afford such a villa for Beth.
"She's still awake?" Zach wondered as he glanced up at the lights coming from Beth's room. Since he wanted to surprise Beth as she had been good lately, he didn't tell her he wouldn't come.
Zach proceeded to go inside the villa cautiously. He had spare keys so he entered the place without any trouble. As soon as he did, Zach's brows furrowed as he saw another man's pair of shoes.
'She has a guest?' Yet, Zach didn't jump into conclusion as Beth mentioned about meeting her brother.
Zach was happy for her, of course. This brother of hers made Beth really happy and helped Beth with her mood swings. Thus, Zach had a good impression of this brother. Maybe these shoes were of that brother's. He didn't want to make a bad impression since it would be their first meeting.
With that in mind, Zach headed inside and didn't dwell about that other man's shoes. AS Zach reached the living area, he looked around but Beth was not there nor the brother.
"Where did they go?" Zach wondered before he raised his head and gazed at the stairs.
For some reason, Zach felt a sudden knot in his stomach as his heart pounded faster. He didn't like the feeling of surging inside him.
'No. it's the brother.' He denied what his instincts were whispering in his ears as he shook his head sideways.
Without further ado, Zach inhaled and exhaled sharply. He shrugged all malicious thoughts and headed to the second floor.
To his surprise, the lights on the second floor were turned off. The only source of light was the gap of the door from their bedroom.
Zach slowly and cautiously approached the room as his heart beat faster. The closer he got closer, the sound of a man and woman moaning came louder.
When he reached the door, Zach slowly widened the opened door and what surprised him was the utter shame of being cuckold. There, Beth was under the man, naked as he was ramming into her despite her baby bump.
Zach was too surprised that he couldn't find the words to speak. Seconds felt forever before Zach exploded in anger.
"Get away from my woman!" Zach shouted as he took hurried strides and held on the man's bare shoulder as he pulled his away before launching a punch.
