Chapter 628 - Seeing An Old Face

"Ay… I can't believe you still don't know the best clubs at your age." Zoey sassed, staring at Zion from head to toe in disdain.

They finally settled in the VIP room of a high-end bar. From the second floor, they could see everyone partying on the dance floor through the slightly tinted floor to length window.

"Haha. I'm sorry, my little sister. Your brother just didn't have spare time to try out different clubs as he was busy saving lives." Zion chuckled, humoring his playful sister who seemed like she was judging his entire existence just because Zion didn't know which club to go to or bar to drink in.

Zoey shook her head, clicking her tongue as it still hadn't sunk in her that Zion was akin to an old man trapped in a young bachelor's body. With Cora dating Ivan, Zoey was now worried if her brother would ever have a romance of his own.

"I never thought I'd ever worry about his personal affairs…" Zoey mumbled, catching Zion's attention.

"What?" Zion asked. He didn't hear her properly.

"Nothing, big brother! I'm just mumbling random things." Zoey let out a fake laugh, sighing secretly.

"Cheers?"

Zoey added, raising her brows along with her glass of champagne. Zion's lips stretched into a smile and they clinked their glasses lightly.

"Cheers!" Zion muttered and downed his glass of rum. He winced as his body started feeling the sensation of the alcohol traveling through his system.

Meanwhile, Zoey only sipped a small amount of champagne. Zoey was a heavy-drinker, but tonight, she didn't want to go overboard. She was here because of her brother and to give him company.

"Now that I think about it, we have never done this before, have we?" After smacking his lips, Zion sucked air through his gritted teeth as he rocked back and forth lightly.

Zoey pondered for a second, "Right, this is the first time." She chuckled.

In her previous life, Zion and Zoey had grown closer especially when they secured their goals: Zoey as a successful businesswoman and Zion as the medicine chief in Kwan General Hospital.

There was a peaceful point in their lives when Zoey and Zion would just share a drink or dinner together. Some people who didn't know their relationship even mistook them as lovers.

Still, not in this timeline. That life would take place in a few years. Hence, it was their first time drinking together.

"I missed a lot, huh?" Zion muttered, smiling bitterly as he spun the glass of rum in his hand lightly.

"Pursuing my ambition… I missed a lot of other important things."

Zion added, his aura suddenly grew gloomier as the alcohol started kicking in. Zion was the complete opposite of Zoey in drinking. Hence, just one chug of that glass of rum was already taking effect.

"What's more important than saving tons of lives?" Zoey commented, trying not to sound too worried and sentimental.

It was no secret that Zoey had a chaotic childhood. Her life had a fair share of good and bad times. However, Zion's was not very much different.

Zion was born as the only son and heir of the Kwan Family. At a young age, he needed to do everything to please his parents. His fascination for human anatomy and medicine just came naturally. Still, behind all the love and privileges, comes a great responsibility and pressure.

Being a doctor was the only choice Zion had willingly taken. The rest? It was to please Zachery and Sarah.

Now that Zion had lost the girl whom he adored for a long time, he could not help but wonder if everything was worth it.

Zion glanced at Zoey and offered her a subtle smile. He stretched his arms and placed it over her head.

"My little sister has grown up so fast. I didn't even realize it."

Zion expressed, patting Zoey's head. It had been a while since Zoey joined the family, but Zion never truly realized it until now.

"You sound like an old man." Zoey teased, letting him pat her head.

"Is he a good guy?" He asked.

Zoey furrowed her brows and pondered about his last query. When her brain processed what he meant, the corner of her lips tilted into a smile.

"Yes. He is sometimes weird, but you'll get to like him once you know him."

"I doubt that." Zion chuckled, shaking his head as he retracted his hands from her.

"But, if you like him that much, I will try to get to know him. Unless, he hurts you, that's a different story."

Zion added, leaning back languidly after pouring himself a glass of rum. Zoey just watched him, biting her lower lip to restrain herself from smiling from ear to ear.

In her previous life, she never had such a type of conversation with him. Zion was always hostile towards Matthew and it took a while for the two of them to find the same equilibrium.

But now, Zion was more understanding. Also, his words moved Zoey's heart as he sounded like a real big brother. A brother who wanted to protect her.

Zion's intention never changed be it in this lifetime or the previous one. However, he was just more vocal now with the help of the alcohol.

"Gosh… do you want me to get married before you?"

To lighten up the atmosphere, Zoey humored. Well, at this rate, Zoey might actually get married before Zion because her brother's romance life was as dry as a deserted land.

"Why? Do you want to get married at your age?" Zion queried back, narrowing his eyes suspiciously.

"You're not pregnant, are you?"

He added. Zoey immediately gasped in disbelief and her reaction made Zion laugh out loud.

"Are you crazy? Gosh…" Zoey clicked her tongue, sensitive at this topic as it just brings painful memories she wanted to forget.

"Haha! I'm kidding." Zion laughed, shaking his head as he didn't expect Zoey to react that way.

After a while, Zion smacked his lips as he tilted his head back. "Marriage, huh?"

"You're already at that age, brother. Did Mom and Dad start setting you up on blind dates?"

Zoey asked, recalling that during this time, Sarah and Zachery would constantly set Zion up on blind dates with elite women. Sometimes, Zion would attend, but most of the time, he couldn't make it because of his tight schedule.

Well, it was obvious before that Zion was not interested. He already had his eyes on Cora. But now, things have changed.

"Hmm," Zion hummed, pondering about this matter as he hadn't thought about it before. "Maybe? So, I can forget about her."

Zion bitterly added. The thought of Cora and Ivan drove Zion to chug the glass of rum until it was empty.

"Geez…" Zoey clicked her tongue as she watched her brother drinking his sorrows away.

Just then, amidst their peaceful night-out, a knock from outside the door reached their ear. Zoey arched her right brow because the door slowly opened even before they could give permission.

"Big Brother," As soon as Zoey glimpsed at the man's demeanor, her radar for danger rang inside her mind.

Zoey's eyes glinted, preparing herself for the worst case scenario. With Zion with her, Zoey didn't act immediately, afraid it would put Zion in danger.

Slowly, the door opened and Zoey was wary. Zion was less wary than Zoey as he glanced at the door indifferently.

"What is it?" Zion asked, thinking that it was the club's staff and they needed something from them.

"Big bro, can you…" Just as Zoey was about to give her instructions for Zion to run away, her voice trailed off as the building tension broke abruptly.

"Hey!" Behind the man standing on the door, a woman's furious voice was heard. She kicked the man on the back, pushing him forcefully inside.

"How dare you bump into me and not apologize, huh?!" The young lady who seemed to be at the same age as Zoey, hysterically continued.

"You! Do you know who I am, huh?!" She pointed at the man, her entire expression was seething with anger as she ran her fingers through her hair.

Zion and Zoey were rendered speechless as it seemed like these two were fighting in the wrong room. Zoey narrowed her eyes, recalling where she saw this familiar looking crazy elite before.

'I think I've seen her somewhere… where…?' Zoey wondered, watching as the woman vent her frustration like a spoiled heiress.

After a moment, Zoey's eyes widened as she finally recalled who was this scandalous girl.

'Katherine Quin?'
