'I think I'll go insane.' Zoey muttered internally, traveling her gaze across these unwelcome guests.
Keeping her silence, she watched as Zion enjoyed himself entertaining these people he believed as her 'friends'. Heck, Zoey wouldn't be friends with them.
"Big Brother Zion, I didn't know Zoey had a big brother! This is surprising!" Kenneth exclaimed as drinks were served.
"Well, Zoey tends to do things differently and doesn't want to take advantage of our family name." Zion politely answered, chuckling as it was not a surprise to him that Zoey never mentioned him to them.
"She doesn't?" Katherine queried, arching her right brow suspiciously as if she doubted that claim.
"Zoey is amazing. I'm sure she --"
"You," Before Enzo could finish his sentence, Zoey intervened. "Don't."
She said, shaking her head lightly. Enzo furrowed his brows and the side of his lips slightly curved downwards.
For some reason, Enzo had felt this inexplicable hostility which Zoey had towards him. Even that night where she barged in in the VIP lounge, Zoey was already cold to him as if he had wronged her.
Yet, Enzo couldn't think of any incident where he met Zoey even before that. Therefore, he was just confused as to why Zoey was acting extra coldly towards him than everyone else.
"Z," Sensing the gloom emanating from Enzo, Zion glanced at Zoey.
Zoey rolled her eyes, knowing what those eyes meant: behave. Well, she was trying, though. It was just that this was not what she expected when she brought Zion in the nightclub.
"I'm sorry. Zoey is just like that. She just looks mean, but she's very kind." Zion reassured, offering a kind smile to Enzo as if comforting him.
"I know, big brother! She's doing things in unconventional and unpredictable ways, but she's really nice!" Kenneth, who had been obviously hinting that he knew Zoey more than the two, exclaimed.
"Really?" Katherine asked, evidently intrigued by Zoey.
"Of course! You know, I lent her my car months ago and…"
"Ahem!" Before Kenneth felt carried away, Zoey cleared her throat loudly.
This snapped Kenneth back to his senses. He realized he nearly tattled about their secret.
"Ahem, I mean, I lent her my car months ago and she returned it full tank." Kenneth awkwardly continued, chuckling forcefully as he scratched his temple.
Katherine arched her right brow and rolled her eyes. Just when she was anticipating a good story as Zoey left a strong impression on her; it turned out to be just a normal story.
"So, are you all out partying? No wonder Zoey insisted on going to this place." Zion inquired. His cheek flustered as he was overly confident and friendly.
Zoey had rarely seen Zion drunk. Hence, she was unaware that Zion could be this overly friendly when intoxicated.
"Big bro, these three are the black sheep of their family. Partying is their only escape."
Zoey bluntly said which was returned with glares from the three: Kenneth, Katherine, and Zion. Enzo remained silent as he was unaffected as it was not true.
Zoey just shrugged nonchalantly. Kenneth then diverted the subject.
"Well, I threw a party because it was my two year anniversarry of being single."
"Do people throw parties for such a reason now?" Zion chuckled, finding it fascinating. "Well, I should throw a party as well."
He added, followed by Kenneth and Zion's chuckles. Katherine just rolled her eyes, picking up a glass of wine she ordered earlier.
As the conversation of the men ran smoothly, Katherine glanced at Zoey. She bit her bottom lip, raising her brows as they were the only females in here.
Katherine didn't want to join the men's conversation because it didn't interest her. Also, she may not verbally admit it, but she somehow found a female heroine she was interested in.
"Uhm," Katherine gulped, clearing her throat. "Big sis," she called and Zoey only raised her gaze at her.
"I'm not your big sis." Zoey flatly said.
In her previous life, Zoey first met Katherine as Zion's 'fiancee'. Perhaps, it was that fact that Zoey didn't like Katherine from the start.
It was probably a sister's instinct that Zoey didn't like Katherine. They were just the complete opposite: Katherine was a rebellious heiress who knew nothing but spend and party. Her brief outburst earlier just added to the reason why Zoey must not like this spoiled heiress.
Meanwhile, Zion was the kindest and purest soul Zoey had ever known. He never partied, had a strong sense of responsibility, is successful, and filial. It won't work.
"Why not?" Stubborn, Katherine frowned, crossing her arms on her abdomen.
"I don't like you." Without a second hesitation, Zoey answered coldly.
Momentarily, Katherine remained silent. After a while, she took a deep breath, raised her chin, and sported a brave face.
"I don't care. I'm used to it."
Zoey arched her brow, studying Katherine's brave and snobbish front. Slowly, Zoey narrowed her eyes as she leaned closer.
"Do you like my brother?"
Without beating around the bush, Zoey inquired. Her gaze never left Katherine's who immediately distorted in dismay.
"Big sis, I may look daring and wear provocative dresses whenever I feel like it. But, I'm not a slut." Katherine sassed, glancing at the smiling Zion as he was having fun with Kenneth and Enzo's company.
"I don't just fall in love at first sight. I don't even believe in it."
She added. Zoey nodded in understanding, cupping her chin by the back of her hand.
'I didn't know this woman was quite interesting. I just judged based on her usual habits of being a party animal.' Zoey thought internally, letting out a deep exhale.
"That's good."
"But," Just as Zoey answered, Katherine was quick to speak. Zoey furrowed her brows and peered at her conflicted expression.
"But, I like you. Not romantically, though. I'm not gay, but I'm not against it." Katherine admitted, expressing it with her brave front. "I don't usually get impressed by women or even men. But, I think we will be good friends."
"Are you saying you want to be friends with me?" Zoey asked, casting her a suspicious look.
"Why not?"
"Uh…" Seeing Katherine's determination, Zoey tilted her head to the side. "You don't have friends, do you?"
