Chapter 638 - A Dilemma Appears

As the night got deeper, the VVIP Lounge had less and less guests. One after another, time passed and this room had no one left aside from those who had passed out and were too drunk to go home.

Zoey watched as some people left with their dates. Some left carrying their friend who was too wasted to know it was time to leave. It was how parties go.

Miraculously, Zoey was the only one who was sober. The three: Katherine, Kenneth, and Zion, were still trying to keep themselves awake. Yet, they were already swaying until Zion finally gave in and rested his head on the table.

"Let's… drink… more…" Kenneth dawdled before his forehead slammed against the table.

"Ah? Hey… these two sisters…" Katherine chuckled before she finally dozed off as she collapsed backward against the lounge seat attached to the wall.

Zoey let out a helpless exhale, shaking her head lightly. "It's 3 in the morning. Should I just leave these two here and go home with my brother?"

Once again, Zoey let out a sigh. She couldn't take Zion home like this. Zachery would surely blame Zoey for being a bad influence.

"Can I just sleep here and wait until they wake up? I'm too tired for this." Zoey mumbled, conflicted at going to the hotel carrying Zion or just stay here until her brother wakes up.

It didn't seem like anyone had the gall to ask Kenneth to leave the establishment. They wouldn't want to lose such an important regular client, after all.

She glanced up, catching Enzo's figure who was just drinking elegantly, three tables away from them. Zoey heaved a sigh of relief as Enzo didn't seem like he had drunk that much as Kenneth surely went overboard tonight.

Just as Zoey was deciding, her eyes brightened up upon hearing Matthew's voice.

"Need help?" Matthew asked. Zoey immediately turned her head to his direction.

Instantly, Zoey sprung away from her seat. "Baby!" She called out excitedly and rushed to him.

Like an excited girl, Zoey immediately wrapped her arms around his waist as she looked up.

"I didn't drink!" She beamed at him a blinding grin. "In exchange, these two bullied my ears and corrupted my brother!"

Zoey frowned, tattling Kenneth and Katherine to her hero named Matthew.  Matthew offered her a subtle smile, pulling Zoey's small frame in his embrace.

"I missed you." He whispered, burying his face into Zoey's shoulders. However, just as he did, Matthew drew it back as it was a little wet.

"Hehe. That girl invited herself to cry on my shoulder." Zoey explained, seeing Matthew's puzzled eyes as he furrowed his brows.

"Anyway, I missed you!"

Zoey added, slipping her arms out of his arms and hooked them around his neck. As she tiptoed, Zoey planned to give him a short peck on the lips.

However, before Zoey could draw back, Matthew placed his hand on the back of her head and stilled her head. Without asking for permission, he deepened his kiss as his tongue parted her lips.

Sensing his strong desire, Zoey didn't hold back as she smiled on his lips. Zoey softly bit his lower lip before welcoming his tongue by a sensual lick.

As the two tangled in a passionate kiss, they stopped upon hearing someone clearing his throat.

"Ahem! I'm still here." Enzo uttered, standing from his seat and approaching the table where the three drunkards were sleeping.

Enzo  glanced at Matthew and then tugged on Kenneth's shoulder. "Hey, bro. I'll take you home."

Meanwhile, upon Enzo's interference, Matthew and Zoey broke the kiss reluctantly. Matthew was obviously displeased, but Zoey widened her eyes before she skipped a step back.

"We will continue later." She winked, brushing her clothes as she faced Enzo.

"Can you take her with you?" Zoey asked at Enzo, pointing at Katherine.

"Uhh…" Enzo only glanced at Zoey before he shifted his eyes towards Matthew.

It was still a surprise to him that Zoey and Matthew were an item. He didn't hear anything about them, but he did hear about a strange woman visiting him in the XI Main tower.

"Let's take her." Matthew only glanced at Enzo before he set his eyes on Zoey's side.

"Ah?" Confused, Zoey furrowed her brows as she cocked her head to the side.

"She nearly got abducted, you know that. It's not safe if we leave her alone and she seems to be traumatized." Matthew explained.

Matthew had heard everything earlier before Zoey's phone died. Therefore, Matthew was concerned as he got the hint that Zoey had saved her from the worse.

Knowing Zoey, she wouldn't do that out of good intention. Zoey wouldn't do that if she thought she was not responsible for it. Zoey was that kind of person who says mean things, but deep down, she was worried.

So, to reduce Zoey's worries, Matthew wanted to check and know who were the people who had the audacity to kidnap Katherine. It wouldn't hurt anyone to spread generosity and kindness, after all.

"Oh… you heard that?" Zoey awkwardly nodded, realizing her phone was connected with his earlier.

Zoey's stress level made her forget that Matthew was still on the phone. She even forgot that Matthew had told her that he would come if they were still in the nightclub.

"Enzo, you should go home. I'll take Kenneth with me." Matthew ordered, raising his eyes to Enzo's figure.

"Big brother, I promised him I'd take him home." Enzo argued, sounding a little hostile towards Matthew.

Yet, Matthew's expression remained unfazed. During this timeline, Enzo and Matthew were like siblings. Matthew trusted and rooted for Enzo, just like how he silently rooted all his cousins for their life choices.

But, Enzo wasn't this distant. Enzo was just like Kenneth and Lucas who were carefree. Just like how Matthew got used to their persistence inviting him to parties, they were also used to Matthew's mien.

So, what was with this sudden hostility?

Matthew remained silent, exchanging eye contact with Enzo. When Enzo unconsciously glanced at Zoey, Matthew's eyes glinted.

"Do you think he will get away if General Bai hears what happened here? I'm trying to give him an alibi, but if you insist, do as you please." Matthew uttered sternly without batting an eye.

Upon hearing Matthew's rational explanation, Enzo ground his teeth. After a long silent minute, he nodded defeatedly.

"Right. Thank you, Big Brother Matt. Telling them he's with you, is more pardonable." Enzo said under his breath.

He seemed pissed at something, but said nothing further. Without another word from him, Enzo left the lounge silently.

No one could tell if he was pissed at Matthew or Zoey. But one thing for sure, Enzo was acting strangely which Matthew and Zoey had noticed.

As Enzo left, Matthew's gaze followed his figure. His pair of russet eyes glinted. Meanwhile, Zoey watched Enzo's figure leave with her right brow arched.

"Was he always this short-tempered with my darling?" Zoey murmured as this was the first time Zoey had seen Enzo bravely show his annoyance.

In retrospect, no one had acted up in front of Matthew. The Xi Family consisted of unique individuals. Enzo may be a short tempered guy, but he conducted himself properly in front of Matthew.

Not because fear was the first reason. It was because they respected Matthew.

"Don't mind him. He probably had a bad day. Also, he was a little drunk. It was probably the alcohol."

After a while, Matthew diverted their attention as he looked at the puzzled Zoey. Hearing his explanation, Zoey didn't dwell on it for a long time and nodded.

"Uh… big bro?" Just as Zoey and Matthew agreed to move on and turned their eyes on the three people on the table, they heard Enzo once again.

"What do you…" Zoey asked, slowly turning her head back while Matthew was staring at the three.

However, when Zoey's voice trailed off, Matthew furrowed his brows as he also turned his head around.. There, Enzo was walking backwards, his hands in the air with a gun placed on his forehead.
