Chapter 644 - And You Like Him Already?

When the breakfast ended, Matthew turned to Kenneth who had barely touched his food.

"You, come with us today. I called your father and told him that I'm borrowing you for a moment." Matthew said, sounding it more like a command.

Kenneth slowly raised his gaze, furrowing his brows. "Man, I have a terrible hangover. The last thing I want is to see you two lovers be lovey-dovey all day."

He complained. If this was a normal day, Kenneth wouldn't mind. However, Zoey was with them and he didn't like watching them together.

After all, Kenneth… deep down, he still believed that Zoey and Matthew made a wrong decision on being together.

"Why? Do you like Zoey?" Without beating around the bush, Matthew inquired.

Upon asking, Ivan nearly choked on the juice he was drinking. He let out a series of coughs, patting his chest as he raised his eyes full of disbelief towards Kenneth.

"Man, you like my sister? And you're friends with… boss Matt?" Ivan inquired, intrigued at this sudden revelation. He didn't know them, but Ivan got a good grasp of their relationship.

Meanwhile, Katherine furrowed his brows, same as Enzo. The two unconsciously moved their eyes towards Kenneth and then to Matthew.

By the looks of it, Matthew didn't appear like he would take offense even if Kenneth's answer was a yes. Still, it was a little surprising if his answer was a 'yes'.

On the other hand, Zoey knitted her brows. She cast Matthew a look. She couldn't understand why he would ask such a weird question.

Not that he appeared to be jealous. She couldn't point it out, but there was something in Matthew's tone.

"What? No!" Kenneth was quick to deny as he gasped. "Bro, I've been single for years! That's why I partied last night. I'm a bit sensitive nowadays."

Matthew scrutinized Kenneth's front for a moment. After a while, Matthew nodded in understanding.

"I see. I don't mean anything with my question. But you will still come."

Kenneth let out a heavy sigh. "Alright." He reluctantly agreed, afraid things would get worse or he'll appear guilty.

"How about me? I should come too? I don't have a car to go to the office. Also, my sister's brother is here too." Ivan inquired, a bit disappointed at the fast resolve in the drama he thought would ensue.

"Paul will drop you off. Mister Kwan can stay for as long as he likes; Miss Quinn too." Matthew informed, glancing at Zion and then to Katherine.

In his mind, keeping them close to him was better. Katherine had offended someone she shouldn't and Matthew owed her security. As for Zion, Matthew thought Zion might need some time off from his family and take a break from the pressure.

Still, he refrained from verbally mentioning it to them. It was better to give them options as Matthew was fine either way.

"Thank you, Mister Xi." Katherine politely expressed, turning into a decent lady unlike her crazy stunts last night.

When she raised her gaze, she pursed her lips. Hesitant to talk to this man.

"Mister Xi?" She called out cautiously.

Katherine recalled that her brother had a meeting with the XI Corporation last night. Her brother even threatened her. Thus, she was afraid that this ordeal would spoil the company's progress on expanding their family business.

"About…" She trailed off when Matthew cast her a look.

"I rejected your brother's proposal." As if he guessed her thoughts, Matthew said bluntly.

"What? Is it because of me?" She blurted out.

"No. I don't like him, that's all." As blunt as ever, Matthew replied. "However, I told my assistant to revise the proposal and gave a condition that if they give you back the shares you inherited from the late chairman Quinn, I might reconsider."

"What?" Stunned at what she heard, Katherine blinked her eyes many times.

"Mister Xi, how did you… I mean, you knew my grandpa?" She asked, her lower lip shook.

Zoey studied Katherine's expression. Last night, Katherine was like a wild party-goer. Just like all other privileged elites who only know how to spend money and party until they could be useful as a tool for political marriage.

But now, it seemed Zoey was wrong. Katherine seemed like she was more than what meets the eye. Not like she really cared about other people's personal affairs. Zoey had a lot of things going on at the moment, after all.

"I don't. But, my girlfriend seems to have taken a liking to you. That's why I'm helping you." Matthew answered.

As soon as Katherine heard Matthew's blunt answer, her eyes lit up and twinkled. She immediately moved her gaze to Zoey, blinking them many times as she cupped her cheek.

"Big sis, you liked me?" Blushing, she asked.

Zoey's under eye twitched, glaring at Matthew who feigned innocence.

"No. But I think you're not bad."

After rolling her eyes at Matthew, Zoey glanced at Katherine.

"Then, I should stay here a bit more, right? Oh no, I think that's not proper if you don't live in the same home." Katherine queried before she realized she was reaching conclusions too fast.

"She'll be staying here for a while. Mister Kwan, you should also take a vacation." Matthew insisted.

Before Zion could refuse, Katherine cast him a glare and spoke for him.

"Of course, he will! Right, brother?" Katherine widened her eyes, urging him to agree.

It would be awkward if Katherine stays there alone. It would be better if there's someone else too who was squatting in Matthew's house. It would be less embarrassing.

"I mean…"

"Very well. I will send a letter to the Kwan General Hospital that I'm hiring you as my private doctor." Matthew nodded, not letting Zion disagree.

The sudden conclusion of their set up rendered Zion speechless. Before he knew it, his fate to stay in this mansion was already set in stone.

Zion cast Zoey a look of help, but she looked away. For some reason, it seemed like Zoey had already planned for him to stay in this place.

"Then, I hope you enjoy your stay in my humble home. We'll be taking our leave." Matthew excused himself, standing from his chair.

"Well, I hope you don't burn the house, kids." Zoey humored awkwardly before standing up. She hooked her arms around Matthew's and waved them farewell.

"Boss, don't forget our date later!" Ivan yelled as the two lovers departed.

When Zoey and Matthew left, the only people who were left around the table were Ivan, Katherine, and Zion. Kenneth went with them and Enzo had excused himself in the middle of breakfast.

"Alright. You two try to fall for each other, alright? I'm off." After Ivan darted his eyes from Katherine to Zion, he smacked his lips and clapped his hands.

Ivan then slowly stood from his languid sitting position. Just when he stood up on his feet, Katherine spoke.

"Wait!"

Ivan raised his brow, staring at Katherine in confusion. "What?"

"You're not staying?" She asked. Ivan sported a look of dismay.

"I may not look like it, Miss. But I'm a working man. Who would clean my sister's office if the janitor is absent? Also, I have a date." In a matter-of-fact tone, Ivan explained proudly.

"Right. You have a girlfriend…" Katherine trailed, nodding her head as she watched Ivan take his leave.

When Ivan left, there were only two of them left. Zion was staring at Katherine with furrowed brows.

"What?" Katherine asked with her usual sassy tone.

"Do you know him?" He asked.

"Uhm, just now. Why?"

"And you're in love with him? Already?" Zion didn't hesitate to ask as he was intrigued how this girl began to like someone just minutes after they met.
