Chapter 650 - Inigo's Translator

Meanwhile…

"How funny life is. Yesterday, you guys wanted to bury me alive, but look at you now." Angelo scoffed, moving his head to the person lying on the bed next to him.

There, Inigo was not in a better condition than Angelo -- the former was far worse. Inigo had barely made it out alive. If Angelo was beaten until he inflicted fractures, Inigo, on the other hand, had gunshot wounds and missing vital areas.

It was a miracle that he was already conscious. Surely, villains don't easily die.

"Ha ha," Inigo let out a weak laugh. Yet, laughing weakly still hurts his insides like hell.

"Good for you, f*cker." Seeing him wince, Angelo scoffed. He felt no remorse seeing Inigo suffer. For him, Inigo deserved it.

"If not for these handcuffs, I'll smother you."

Inigo watched his breathing, keeping it at minimal. Surely, he had gone overboard last night.

If not for the fact that Nikolai had sent a few of his men somewhere last night, he'd have surely died. Inigo underestimated his little brother's powers during this lifetime.

'God damn it.' Inigo cursed inside his head. He had lived this timeline and succeeded in bringing down the powerful crime family. Why must he have to do it all over again?

It had taken him eight years to build a proper and powerful army to bring down his own family. Hence, thinking about spending another eight years repeating what he went through made him lose his patience.

Sadly, Nikolai was as elusive as ever. He was as thorough as ever. Inigo didn't even manage to come close or meet Nikolai as the latter's men had already found out about his infiltration.

"If that guy betrayed Zoey, do you think he won't betray you?" Angelo scoffed after a long silence.

Until now, he had doubts towards Matthew's intention. Seeing Inigo end up like this made him assume it was Matthew's doing.

"How low have we fallen." Angelo muttered. "Love… what a terrifying power. Because of it, Zoey has fallen for that guy's tricks and the ripple effect has started. We're all going down. I don't even know why I am alive."

Inigo casted a side eye to Angelo's side profile. If he could speak, he would have thrown all his sarcasm at this depressed Angelo. But, this guy who used to work for Inigo was still his family -- a brother whom Inigo protected from the pain of betrayal from Angelo's biological sister.

There was a long silence that had enveloped the small infirmary in Matthew's mansion. Neither Inigo or Angelo spoke a word, keeping their thoughts to themselves.

Soon, they heard the door open. Both of them instinctively glanced at the person coming in; it was Matthew.

"Great." Angelo mumbled sarcastically.

Matthew glanced at Angelo. He grabbed the chair nearby and dragged it to Inigo's side. When he sat down, his russet eyes scrutinized Inigo's figure from head to toe and sighed.

"Where's… Z?" Through his gritted teeth, Inigo asked.

"She just left." Matthew answered blankly. "You've gone overboard."

"Heh," Inigo only let out a faint scoff. He already knew that. Matthew didn't have to rub salt on his wounds.

"What would you do if Nikolai cornered you?" Matthew's eyes flickered with killing intent. "Do you want me to wage a war with him without preparation?"

Inigo wanted to chuckle aloud as Matthew sounded so cheesy to him. However, breathing alone felt like torture. Thus, he couldn't just relay his thoughts aloud.

Meanwhile, Angelo knitted his brows hearing them. What were they talking about? He wondered. By the sound of it, his assumption that Matthew did this to Inigo was wrong.

"If he could speak, he would've said that you're being so cheesy and gay." Angelo chimed in, knowing Inigo's thought process.

Matthew arched his brow, casting Angelo a look. Inigo smirked hearing how accurate Angelo was.

"But what I'm saying is true." Matthew argued. He didn't care what he would sound like. But, he would be forced to rescue Inigo if something happened to him last night.

"I gave you the address so you can let off some steam. I didn't think you wouldn't use your head properly." Matthew added as he shot Inigo a look.

"Why would I need to use my head? Is what he is thinking, maybe." Again, Angelo was the one who answered, relaying his lucky guesses regarding what Inigo would say.

"Ha --!" Upon hearing Angelo's words, Inigo nearly burst out laughing. However, just before he could, he felt a stabbing pain inside his ribs.

Matthew darted his eyes from Inigo to Angelo and sighed.

"Nikolai is already on the move. Did anyone recognize you last night?"

Matthew inquired, setting his eyes on Inigo. The latter only shrugged weakly. Instinctively, Matthew glanced at Angelo, silently asking if he could kindly translate it.

"Who knows." Angelo answered in a deadpan tone. He also wondered why he was even helping the two communicate. What he knew was that watching them hurt his eyes.

Matthew massaged his temples. "Ivan will come in here later. It seems like he already tried to break his ties with the Silva Family."

"What?" Angelo knitted his brows together. "Ivan?"

From retrospect, Ivan was the last person who would turn his back on the said family. Ivan practically grew up in that crime family. Yet, Matthew was saying that Ivan was breaking his ties with Nikolai?

"I haven't talked to him because things came up." Matthew sighed as he didn't feel the need to give all the details of what happened last night.

"But I already have a vague idea."

Matthew added. When Inigo heard that, he let out a faint scoff. Angelo took notice of that and he arched his brow. Although Inigo didn't say anything, Angelo understood his unspoken thoughts and agreed with it.

"I don't know why I am even saying this, but please don't trust Ivan so much." After a beat, Angelo spoke, catching Matthew's attention.

"Why so?"

"Just because." Angelo shrugged. "Ivan has never turned his back against his family. He is a person who could set aside his own personal feelings for the Silva Family. Don't put your faith in his shallow feelings for that girl."

Matthew remained silent. He glanced at Inigo and saw him nod.

"Well…" Matthew leaned back and sighed.. "We'll see."
